Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are sharing some amazing dupes to Cerave products.. I am not suggesting that everyone needs to stop using Cerave, you should make your own mind up on that based on what is right for your skin and wallet, but should you wish to move away from the brand then I hope these cruelty free dupes will help you make that decision. I would love to know your thoughts on Cerave so please leave them in the comments below. Sending lots of love xxx

I guess the reason people love cerave over ceramedix is that cerave is non comodegenic . Their body moisturizers can also be used on the face for those people with acne prone skin. But ceramedix I love love on the body

I used to use CeraPhil a lot and soemtimes CeraVe, and when I learned that they weren't cruelty-free, I went ballistic. I told my mom to stop buying them, but she said, "Meh". And when I told my brother about it, he just went on about a whole speech on "how we need animals to be tested so we know it's safe" and "would you rather have humans be tested on?". It disgusts me. Thank you for this video. I've lived my life for song long thinking that these products were safe and cruelty-free.

About a year ago when I was just starting to get back into skincare, I went for Cerave cleansers and moisturizers. They are super cheap here in the US and are literally available everywhere--drugstores, supermarkets, Target, Walmart, etc. They are very basic but seemed adequate. However after branching out into other products (and learning about the company's dodgy stance on the cruelty free aspect) I realized there are a lot of options that are much better. For my ceramide hit, I use the Krave Great Barrier Relief. It's pricey but it lasts a long time and my skin LOVES it. So smooth and soothing and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft.

    My experience with Cerave:
Moisturizing cream: gave me really bad milia which was a struggle to get rid of
Hydrating cleanser: was not bad but for me I felt like it did not clean my skin well enough.
And as you said here in Europe they are quite expensive so I don't think I ever gonna buy them 😀

I completely agree I have always despised all their formilulas and have never understood the hype unless you have dey not remotely breakout prome skon that can use anything so why not use cheap products and spend less. I suppose drugstore wise yes they add in ceramides and some other good ingredients but nothing in their line remotely worked for my oily blemish prone skin even products claimed for this skin type all left me feeling not clean, heavy, greasy, clogged etc. Was just s nightmare as much money as it would have saved me lol. As a vegan who tries to be cruelty-free, I appreciate this! The product I’ve had the most trouble finding a dupe for is the Cerave Healing Ointment. I find that the ceramedex cream is perfect while on tretinoin! I don’t believe it’s as rich as the healing ointment, but I have never tried that one so I couldn’t tell. But if you get red sensitive areas, have you tried the cream first then tretinoin in about 30-60 min after?

However all ingredients were at some point tested on animals in the past. The "cruelty free" claim is bogus. Btw loreal started to replace animal in vivo testing with in vitro long ago and has invested a lot of r&d in those in vitro techniques. Check theecowell in ig.

Sorry to say but cervea is only the brand that did not irritates. I tried aveeno, dermol and simple brand all the good none fragrances brand and it all made me itch and irritated me a lot so I thought to try cerave and it worked did not irritate me. But yes am thinking to go and look for an cutlery free product which is good for dry and super sensitive skin. Plus I have really irritated skin which sometime itch and gets very flakey plus I have kp on my arms and legs and I tried cervea with the salicylic acid in but it itched me when I put it on I can’t use anything with salicylic acid in.. just my skin is super super irritated when I put anything on it so I have to be careful that’s why am abit skeptical to try anything else apart from cervea because my skin is very sensitive. Do u recommend anything. Forget to say I have rosacea on my cheeks which are always red lol.

Hello! You mentioned to just add the amino acids to a basic moisturizer for a good alternative, but what came to mind is the fact that most of us watching do t have basic moisturizers, as we watch skincare tutorials to find something better than basic, so I found myself scratching my head. I don’t think I have or know of good one! 😳 Would you recommend a basic, affordable moisturizer that would be a good possible base to add serums to?
I have combination skin, 49 YO and the 10% lactic acid from The Ordinary barely itched for 5 minutes if that, so I apparently have skin as strong as yours! going to get the high % AHA this week

Thank you so so much hun and thats a really good point about the moisturiser.. when I say basic I mean something which doesn't have too many active ingredients in, something like the ordinary natural moisturising factors or a drugstore equivalent which will just seal in the hydration... I hope this makes sense and sending lots of love from here in the UK xxxx

I enjoy Cerave quite a bit since it was kind of "introductory" for me on my journey of loving skin care? I honestly really love their cream-to-foam cleanser, their SA cleanser, and their moisturizing cream. However, I do want to look at other options (especially cruelty free options) now that my skincare collection has expanded.
Really have been interested in the cocokind matcha moisturizer but am looking at a couple options before committing.

My HG from cerave is their SA cleanser, cerave PM lotion, eye cream and light weight spf 30. I’ve tried finding dupes but still can’t replace them after several years. The SA cleanser helps to gently exfoliate my skin. I’ve tried other SA cleansers and they burned my skin. The cerave PM lotion had the perfect consistency for under makeup. I’ve recently started using la roche-possum double repair moisturizer at night because it’s a bit thicker. I haven’t tried it under makeup yet. The eye cream sits well under makeup too and doesn’t give me milia. The light weight spf also sits well with make up and he allowed me to be consistent with my spf. I do occasionally try new products to see if I can replace cerave but just haven’t been able to replace these four.

Hey Rob! Great video and some of those dupes look very promising. I loathe the Cerave cleansers -- they all feel very stripping and harsh on my skin. However, the PM lotion is like an all time favourite 😁 I can't believe you don't like it, but like you said everything won't work for everyone even when we have similar skin types. It's funny because I love it precisely because I don't find it to be greasy and it works well as just a basic moisturizer that I can count on to not conflict with my retinol or leave my skin feeling bogged down. I also love the texture and finish. But ok, you hate it so we agree to disagree 😊 Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

I have a few Paula's Choice products on my skincare (obsessed) shelf but I would never compare their price to CeraVe's even in the UK, especially considering quantities and very frequent sales om CeraVe on different websites.

For anyone searching for a replacement of the Cerave lotions I would suggest trying the Bonajour Green Tea Water Bomb cream. It has a similar base to Cerave but uses a teensy amount of plant oil in place of silicone (takes only a moment longer to absorb and leaves a smooth, non greasy finish) and has the addition of multiple peptides and green tea. Very soothing for sensitive skin, lightweight, fragrance free. A nice one for face and body. Decent sized tube for the $ too and they are a cruelty free brand.

I've tried the Paula choice cleanser. It does not make my face feel like the cerave. It's a little drier. The hydration of the cerve makes my face feel like i've already Been moisturized. The Paulas choice I need to use moisturizer right after were my face feels tight. When it comes to cleansing, I want a beautiful silky balm and a hydrating cleanser . It doesn't need to have anything in it. Because it's a cleanser, it's gonna be washed down the drain. It is to get the oil sebum off my skin, that's it.. I haven't tried another cleansers That feels the same as the Cerave. I don't mind spinning money on active and even a beautiful moisturizer... But my cleanser needs to be basic and do one job only. And that's to clean the skin without stripping And leave my skin feeling hydrated.

the whole point of cerave is to provide good, basic skincare, at an affordable price.
    So, you can't recommend a £30 moisturiser (50ml) or a £17 cleanser (100ml) and say it is a dupe.

    • @aperson5261
      @aperson5261 3 роки тому +3

It’s a dupe in the fact that it’s more ethical which is as much as a deciding factor in whether someone will buy a product as price is for others. Not all dupes are to do with price.

Every time I go to the store, literally any store, that carries CeraVe there's always just a handful of products left on the shelf. They're almost always sold out of everything. Admittedly, when I tried some of their products my skin was not a fan. While I love that there's lots of the barrier repair ingredients in there they just use way to much/too heavy occlusives for my skin. I'm admittedly still trying to find products that are repairing/healing without aggravating my acne and easily clogged pores.

I did purchase also some cleansers and the Cerave cream, just ot try and I wasn´t impressed at all!!! - The cream wasn´t hydrating or moisturising enough. I ended up mixing it with argan and apricot kernel oil ot use it on my body.
    - The Hydrating cleanser is just so itchy and almost burns my skin. I had to give it away.
    - The Foaming cleanser is ok but just that. I will probably use it on my body
    - The SA cleanser is actually quite good. I use it a couple times a week on my t-zone and its fine. Actually much better than the Inkey Lists as it doesn´t dry my skin of.

Hi Rob cereve doesn't really work for me tbh. The facial lotion and moisturising lotion in the pump bottle are too lightweight and even the cream in the jar isn't enough for my super dry skin. The hydrating cleanser is fine, but not something I'm in love with (used as a morning or second cleanse after a oil/balm).
An option I like better is the illiyoon ceramide ato cream (available from stylevana or yesstyle), which when ordered from Asian sites is around £13 for 150mls. The pyunkang yul ato cream is also a good option and a similar price - it is cruelty free. They're a better texture, contain ceramides/cholesterol/fatty acids and are more hydrating in my opinion. The LRP toleraine hydrating cleanser works very similarly to the cereve hydrating cleanser, but it's a better texture though unfortunately not CF.
The ceremedx mentioned is easily available in the US, but not here in the UK and the other option is at least double the price at £31 for 50mls. I may try the Inkey list ceramide night treatment as a day cream - I know it won't be enough for my severe dryness overnight. I'm currently using the FAB ultra repair cream as a daycream and the Altruist urea cream at night. I need something really rich in the Scottish Winter and most face creams just don't deliver enough moisture and occlusion for me overnight. This is why I often use body creams on face/neck/chest overnight and use serums etc for active ingredients and barrier supportive ingredients. I'm currently using the Superdrug pure serum for my ceramide hit at night - it's super affordable. It may be a good option under a basic moisturiser for ceramides and very inexpensive, even with the two layers. It may work really well alone for an oily skin, or under sunscreen. Best wishes.

Thank you for doing this! Any good vegan dupes for Cerave's Healing Ointment (specifically with petrolatum)? This is one that Dr. Dray on UA-cam is always recommending...

I really like E.L.F.’s skincare products, they have ceramides. Pacifica also has products with ceramides now.

2nd comment - yup copy cat, but will try lol, love allotonin! The plus centella one sounds great too. Sooo .... Cerave, tried many of their products, moisturizers, sunscreen, cleansers bla bla bla a couple years ago & couldn’t figure out all the rage, truly, just couldn’t (& that’s at drugstore American prices!!). Great post, thanks 😊. BTW, is first aid cruelty free? I’m confused with the info I’m finding.

Hey hun Happy Sunday and i am so glad i am not the only one who didn't get the hype lol.. It is a little confusing with first aid beauty so i have emailed them to clarify and await a response.. On the face of it it looks like they are no longer cruelty free but i am waiting for confirmation.. Sending lots of love xxxx

I don’t always share your opinion, but, I still enjoy your videos. Too bad Cerave is not cruelty free. The products are fantastic and extremely affordable. Cya later

Hey Susy, I never judge, the brand is not for me but i always say to people use what works for your skin and of course your wallet.. Their products really didn't work for me and i think they are over hyped but for people looking for simple and affordable they really can work well for them.. I just wanted to offer some dupes for people looking to move away from the brand.. Sending you lots of love xxxx

I have only tried 2 Cerave products: the eye cream 👎🏻 millia; and the smoothing cream for the body, this I like and it works great. I tried de A.Florence cream last winter an it was gorgeous. Now I am using Ceramol, it’s and Italian brand that uses 311 ratio ceramides/cholesterol/oils. 👌🏼
