  • This video shows how to install the AP-500 on the Nikon 500 5.6 VR Pf lens. The factory foot has a quick-release feature to quickly remove the foot from the lens.
Our foot however is designed to be mounted more permanently, which we believe is desirable for our nature photography customers.
Detailed in this video is the process of installing a roll pin to ensure a perfect fit between the factory dovetail and replacement foot

This foot is rock solid and totally eliminates the chance of the original foot coming off by accident. Excellent quality and finish.

Great job! Made in USA, and very well engineered.

Skip to 4:00 if you want to know what time it is instead of how to build a watch.

I just installed it on my Nikon 500 PF and it worded perfectly. You have to tighten the screw down very tight to make certain it fits flush on the left side but once I did it all worked as described. Works great.

Mine isnt flush on the left side, I'm not sure I feel comfortable cranking down super hard to crush that darn thing

It seems like a strange thing to do but it installed just as described and it feels solidly tight.

Same here. I was annoyed at first having to do it, but it feels incredibly solid.

I still don't understand, why do we need that pin inside?

I believe it's some sort of spring pin... like what they used to use on watch band. back in the day

Its a shim to compensate for imprecise engineering
