- Up close views of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland at Euston station on 26th March 2022 as she prepares to head ‘The Mancunian’ northbound.
A big thanks to the great train crew who allowed a very quick visit to the cab of 47772 and also up close shots of the Duchess as she was being prepared for departure.

A Coronation class in crimson lake livery, far better than black or green I think, one of Mr Stanier's masterpieces and a thing of true beauty.

I had the Hornby version of this years ago, including the mail car with working mail pickup function. I'm not a huge fan of steam but this is one of those steam trains that I genuinely do like.
Your missing out mate they have an almost alive feel to them , my uncle drove them late 50s early 60s got me addicted then ,nearly seventy now and still love the sound and smell of steam ,smoke and hot oil Rail or traction engines got something diesel can’t match,as for electric it’s got the character of a washing machine on wheels.
Love the oval buffers......

Living in Watford, these were the top locos on my bit of the LNW...City of London and City of Coventry were the most common (Camden shed).
I had the Hornby 00 model City of London in 1963. Second hand then, it needs a service and might still run.

Why do they push steam out the front for so much longer on departure these days?

Nice train spoilt by a thrumming, smelly thing hung on the back!
Not a fan of steam!! They are living breathing creatures that sound alive and smell wonderful.
