I think the reason why the railway companies and the tube management and overground moguls all seem to like you and have no worries inviting you on all sorts of jollies (I wish they'd invite me, but I can't produce such brilliant videos) is because A) you are enthusiastic B) because you know your (and their) subject and C) you have a very low bullsh1t quotient.
They know you might point out a shortcoming or even a long one, but you won't give them a hard time about it, just the straight story and you always praise the people doing the work. Well done Geoff, there ought to be more like you.

The inconsistencies between the 125 year old tunnel and 1920s rings/lining is because they first built the tunnel around 1900 but in 1925 it was widened so the rings of the tunnel are from 1925 but the tunnel it self is 1900~

Some of the flanges on the curves had some material cut of to give sufficient clearance for the current Northern line line stock. Another area where the hand dug curves not being of constant radius caused problems.

TfL has played a blinder, inviting down someone like Geoff to give the public an insider look at the work that has been going on.
1.) TfL don't have to pay anyone to create a video.
2.) The public will probably not trust that video anyway.
3.) Having an outsider like Geoff explain it in layman's terms what is happening is a lot more efficient than a TfL PR person.

My goodness, they haven’t hung about! Perhaps it’s because much of the work was escalated? 🤔Or should that be travellated…oh sorry, of course, I meant “Walkwayed”? 😅 Excellent to see a behind the scenes perspective and I could see how much fun you were having (I expect nothing less!). And I’m glad you managed to slip in a couple of ‘walk away from camera’ shots. Wouldn’t be the same without them! 🤓 I was surprised to see the shaft entirely filled in as I was half expecting you to pan up and show a huge vent shaft or something. But like you I had no idea about those areas beneath the platforms for utilities 🤯 It kind of makes sense I suppose as they must come from and go to somewhere, but it just shows you can go on these things for decades and still discover something entirely new that was surrounding you all the time! 🤗
I do have a few days off in mid-May so I am hoping I can squeeze in a quick visit when it opens so I get to see it all shiny and new. I wanted to see the old before it shut but life annoyingly just got in the way 🤷🏻‍♂️ Mad if the Betty Line opens up too, it will be double the fun! 😎
    Thanks as ever mate 👍🍀🍻

Projects like these are just as important as extensions and new rolling stock. Shows how we can change stations to deal with capacity issues make it a better experience and hopefully collect more revenue to fund additional projects, Camden Town and Holborn need capacity upgrades too.

Weird seeing work done on somewhere that I would use on a daily basis. Even though my total time spent on the southbound platform was quite literally 3 seconds because I'd run to the Dlr platforms to go home.

In 20-50 years there’ll be Tube trivia like “do you know why the Southbound platform is so much wider?” or “did you know the connection corridor used to be the tunnel?”

I can’t wait for the Bank branch to open up again. It’s a lot easier getting to my office in Liverpool Street. At the moment I’m travelling though at Waterloo to get the Waterloo and City line to get to Bank. To top it off that long long walk way to get to the Central line.
