Thanks for making this video. I have a XM ready kenwood and before watching your video I thought I could just get an XM antenna and plug it in but now I realize I need the tuner as well. Or is it Essential......ly?
Yes I was just watching your video you say if we have any questions to message you I just connect everything like you did on the video but how do I get my Bluetooth to work with my iPhone
Thanks for posting the video. I have the 2004 Durango with factory installed Sirius Satellite radio tuner. As of late the Sirius continually tries to "updating the channels" but fails. Also, I'm not receiving many of the new channels that Sirius XM has added to their lineup. I was told by Sirius, that I need to replace my satellite tuner, I've searched and searched and came upon this. Long story short, will the V200 or V300 work with my factory 2 Din radio?
I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500. I'm going to install an alpine ine-w940. After watching your video on the installation of the ram you gave me an idea on the bezel but I was wondering how much you cut off from the top and bottom to allow room for the 2 din that you installed? Also I just wanted to say that instead of using the antenna for the new satellite receiver to save an installation step dodge, chevy, and some ford's have the factory receiver behind the glove box and you just have to unplug the antenna wire and remove the clip and plug it into the new receiver.
James Speaks Thanks for the tip! I took off less than a .25" total top and bottom. You just want to be very carful and take a littlie off and than take some more until you get the fit.
Ok thank you. I actually found a bezel in a salvage yard to practice on. It's hard to find the navigation bezel. But thank you for letting me know about how much you cut off it helps at least gives me an idea.
Just a little clarification, that particular tuner he's using is only for "sirius XM ready" receiver. It will NOT work for "SAT READY" radio. it says that on the box too. I think that's what he meant to say. Just make sure the front of your radio/receiver say "sirius xm ready" like the one on the video. not "sat ready".
Looking to install Sat radio on my 2006 Limited Toyota Avalon with Nav. and steering controls....Will this kit work and if not do you know what kit would work?
Can I use the stock Sirius XM tuner in a 2007 SAAB 9-3 and plug it into the back of a Pioneer 4100NEX? My car already has the tuner and shark fin antenna, and I don't want to have to buy what I essentially already have.
Out of curiosity, just installed an Alpine Xm ready receiver in my Avalon. Will that externally mounted antenna hold up over time when running the car through the car wash?
I just came to the sad reality that i cant use the factory xm with my new pioneer dvd. But hoping i can get the right adapter to use my factory shark fin gm antenna
How can I connect this to my factory radio? it doesn't have the din outlet in the back but it is xm ready because it came out of another vehicle that did have xm. I have an 08 chevy impala.
I have a 2007 Yukon Denali XL, Can't i just use the Tuner that came with the Car? Instead of buying a wholw new unit? Im going to be installing a JVC KW-V220BT XM Ready.
question my gf bought my the sirius xm v2 300 my question is it didn't come with instructions I thought I could put the aftermarket Antena in to my aftermarket Antena and will that work and can i mount the Antena inside my vehicle not a fan of placing it outside my vehicle and do I need to buy the extra sirus xm screen if my aftermarket radio has the app in three radio
I just got the v300 for my pioneer mixtrac. I connected everything got the subscription to xm/Sirius all the channels are there but I'm not getting any sound. What do I need to do extra? I even called xm to see if they could help with the problem, but they couldn't help me.
Does the SiriusXm Tuner ( the one in the video) work in my 2008 Prius which is Xm ready not SiriusXm Radio? Please get back to me asap! Thank you very much! :)
I'm sorry as far as I know it will not work on that radio. To my understanding it has to be (SiriusXm Radio) You would have to change your radio or buy a fm modulator sirius kit of some kind.
ok. and since my car is xm ready can i just have sirius activate my SAT radio. and then be ok. or do i have to buy a tuner or a kit? ( if the tuner is already installed in my car? Thanks Alexandra Champion
ok! last question! and thanks for all your help btw! but how do i know if there is a tuner in the car already? ( because right now when i press the am/SAT button its stays on am) is that because it is not activated? Thanks again Alexandra
I am not sure but I would think it would go to a generic SAT station that is basically free and it would say stuff like "to sign up call" So I am thinking that you may not have a tuner in that car. Is this the factory stereo that came with the car?
Essentially I have tried to take that word out of my vocabulary! LOL Thanks for the comment... Subscribe To DIY Bri.. I'm trying to make better videos...
Essentially there was only 10 essentiallies, in an essentially 4 minute video. ;) We've all been there. You get a little bit nervous and come all the little ticks and words. :)
The tuner will be specific to the brand and model of your radio, and half the time the cost is so high you can almost replace the radio with a newer radio that is "SiriusXM" and buy the Sirius v200. However if you Google the model number of the radio you have and go to the manufacture page of that radio it will generally list optional accessory's for that radio if its even available any more. Hope that helps.
I watched it twice just to count the 10 uses of "essentially". Keep it up dude good work!
lol Thanks!
Precise...........just getting to the point in a simple, but very effective way.

+Joshua Almendarez - Yes! Essentially

Yes you are exactly correct the radio needs to read "SiriusXM ready" on the front.
very cool! thanks for uploading!
+Seethwin Thanks!
Looking to install Sat radio on my 2006 Limited Toyota Avalon with Nav. and steering controls....Will this kit work and if not do you know what kit would work?
If you already have the satelite radio function on the OEM radio, will the OEM antenna plug into the new tuner?
thanks for your time

Yes, it is completely waterproof.
I have the Kenwood DDX271 Double Din and the latest Sirius SXV300 tuner hooked up and it's not showing on the radio? Would I need to update the Radio?
Possibly... You may check Kenwood's website for an update and or call there tech line
www.kenwood.com/usa/car/support/
hey where can I get one of those rubber grommet from so the wire doesn't get pinched
Do these sound better than the ones u tune raido station to and mount to dash? Cause I had that kind it sucked sounded terrible
Yes much better
I just came to the sad reality that i cant use the factory xm with my new pioneer dvd. But hoping i can get the right adapter to use my factory shark fin gm antenna
Where can I get that essential magnet?
How can I connect this to my factory radio? it doesn't have the din outlet in the back but it is xm ready because it came out of another vehicle that did have xm. I have an 08 chevy impala.

+Cam Mims No, unfortunately I am not aware of any kind of adapter that will adapt to the factory satellite tuner system.
You can peel the connector of the XM antenna and use that for the module. You will still need the xm module but can reuse the xm antenna.

no it should just plug in the back of the radio
I just got the v300 for my pioneer mixtrac. I connected everything got the subscription to xm/Sirius all the channels are there but I'm not getting any sound. What do I need to do extra? I even called xm to see if they could help with the problem, but they couldn't help me.
I've got the V200 coming from a friend at TSS-Radio.com. Give them a call and they'll help you, no problem. Even if you didn't get the kit from them.
Thank you boss
I bought a the 300 version, same set up,only problem is my head unit does not have a place to plug into, what eles do I need?any info would be helpful.
Unfortunately that tuner only works with radios that have that plug on the back.
is this pretty much the same thing as the 300v1 ?
As far as I can tell the 300v1 replaced the 200v1.
How much does it usually cost for the antenna and tuner?
Around $70 Bucks. Sometimes there are rebates on them so shop around.

No kit, You should just be able to call and get yours up and running. Your car most likely has everything all ready to go.
ok! last question! and thanks for all your help btw! but how do i know if there is a tuner in the car already? ( because right now when i press the am/SAT button its stays on am) is that because it is not activated?

I essentially needed to mute the video to watch. thanks tho.

Essentially, it's better, IMO, than saying "actually".
will this work with a 2006 scion tc radio
It will work with any radio that says xm ready on it, If not just go buy a 40 dollar xm radio that you can play through your scion radio with a aux
If my radio says SAT ready what tuner do I get?
The tuner will be specific to the brand and model of your radio, and half the time the cost is so high you can almost replace the radio with a newer radio that is "SiriusXM" and buy the Sirius v200. Essentially.... 😂😂
essentially... lol
I know, I even cut me out saying that a few times! lol
You don't show how to put it in
All that electrical tape wrapped around the wires looked very amateur.
