    Exactly how did you click on the long base cabinet behind your island cabinets and then "click once more" to grab the countertop and drag it out? Is this a setting in preferences or defaults that allowed you to do that because I can't replicate that action. Thanks.

    • @ChiefArchitect
      @ChiefArchitect  4 роки тому

      When you click on a cabinet, in your edit toolbar, there is a tool called "Generate Custom Countertop". Once that is selected, you can drag the countertop to it's desired place.

    Hi. What is your floor type and color? same for your back splash and wall paint color?

    • @ChiefArchitect
      @ChiefArchitect  6 років тому

      Hello, S F. The flooring type and color is 'Cherry Hand Scraped Plan Cell - Bleached Flooring' which is available in the core library. The wall paint is 'Benjamin Moore Cement Gray 2112-60'. The tile was a custom material that Stephanie had imported from a web search. To create your own custom materials, please refer to the knowledge base article here: www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10145/creating-custom-tile-materials.html. Thanks!

    Can Chief Architect open .kit files from 2020 Design and can it save .kit files for compatibility with other 2020 users?

    • @ChiefArchitect
      @ChiefArchitect  2 роки тому

      .kit files are not compatible, but .dwg and .dxf files can be imported and exported from Chief Architect.

    what material is used for the cabinet doors in the material dialog

    • @ChiefArchitect
      @ChiefArchitect  5 років тому

      The kitchen cabinets in this design are Snow White from the Benjamin Moore catalog (www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/716). The Island is also from Benjamin Moore and is Down Pour Blue.

    • @korrupt4
      @korrupt4 5 років тому

      @@ChiefArchitect thanks, but did you start off with the default birch honey material and then go into the material dialog and switch it to 'snow white' otherwise if you sprayed it with the material painter it would show the grain behind the paint.

    • @ChiefArchitect
      @ChiefArchitect  5 років тому

      @@korrupt4 I believe the default cabinet material for this plan was preset to Snow White before she began her design work. I would recommend watching our video on Preferences and Defaults (www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/3/preferences-and-defaults.html?playlist=82). Cabinet defaults are explained about 1:30 into the video.
      If you'd like to use the material painter, you can choose whether or not you'd like to use the "Blend Colors with Textures" option. We have a help article that explains these tools further here: www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00004.
      I hope this helps to clarify!

    So, hey, can I have maple standard interiors on my cabinets while showing a white paint exterior? What if I want a two tone open shelf cabinet? Can the whole interior be blue and the exterior walnut? How about options to place a fluted wide stile left or right on my sink base? Is that an option? Any way to tell CA I want a decorative leg left OR right, not just wherever CA wants to place it? Can I edit individual components of a cabinet box? Can I make a the drawer box walnut, interiors maple, and the exterior white paint? Any chance I can customize your standard cabinet module to reflect how my manufacturer actually builds cabinetry? Like 1/8" frame reveals on finished sides? So, you guessed it, I just purchased CA today. Not a happy camper for all the shortcomings....

      Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out! Chief Architect is for full residential design and kitchen and bath design. We don’t currently offer limitless cabinet customization, but our tools are quite flexible, these tips may help you achieve what you are looking for a little more closely. For those details that we cannot produce automatically, we’ll share feedback with our team for future enhancements!
      • You can add cabinet accessories, such as a fluted left or right stile, in the cabinet specification dialog using millwork from the library. You can also select a cabinet foot symbol from the library and manually place it under a cabinet, to learn more please see this article: www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03026.
      • Instead of specifying the frame reveal, try adjusting the door overlay amount via the “Traditional Overlay” settings. You can also configure the face frame sizes separately per cabinet and per piece to accommodate these needs.
      • The cabinet frame can be a separate material from the shelves, drawers, and panels; however, at this time I’m not aware of a way to specify the color of the inside of the cabinet box as a separate material from the exterior.
      • We offer component attributes for including construction notes, comments, and line item reporting for the details in your cabinets that don’t show in your models, but you’d like represented in a product take-off.
      To learn more, please see this article: www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00991.
      • For custom component configurations, specific material specifications, and generally representing custom cabinets that are beyond our automatic tool functionality, you can use independent components (moldings, shelves, panels, polyline solid modeling, feet and millwork symbols, in addition to cabinet objects) to assemble specialty cabinets and manipulate them as Architectural Blocks for saving and reuse. www.chiefarchitect.com/support/category/186/architectural-blocks.html
      We’d love to talk to you more in person about these options! You can reach us at sales@chiefarchitect.com, or 208-292-3400 Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm Pacific. Thank you!

      @@ChiefArchitect Thank you for the detailed reply! I think you point to the key factor 'We don't currently offer limitless cabinet customization...', However, I am learning that you have a few amazing users of your software who have found workarounds for many things. Perhaps, as helpful feedback, rather than a complaint, you may consider interviewing a few cabinet industry professionals and get their feedback in order to make a few additions to the software. I believe you have a nice design tool and amazingly fast rendering options via your PBR, but some key functions would make a world of difference to folks such as myself. In all cases, I'm renting the software and will continue to work with it a bit before I commit to CA for the long term. THanks.
