MITRE’s BlueTech Lab Construction

Immerse yourself in the construction of MITRE's new BlueTech Lab.
We built this cutting-edge maritime testing facility around a large, in-ground tank used as an ice chest in the 1990s. Located in in Bedford, Massachusetts, the Lab enables the regional BlueTech innovation community to rapidly and safely prototype and accelerate new technology. Featuring one of the largest and longest tanks in the region (106’ x 40’ x 19’7″ with a 621,000-gallon capacity), the BlueTech Lab’s tank accommodates the use of unmanned undersea and surface vehicles in a controlled space. It also enables testing of communication and acoustic sensing systems at lower transmission frequencies and larger signal pulse-widths than other facilities.
