- I bring back this 1985 Yamaha YFM200 Moto 4 from the dead. On top of some maintenance issues it also needed a bent exhaust valve replaced and the jug bored 1/2 millimeter over. I bring the viewer in where I'm re-assembling the top end of the engine with the hopes to get it running and driving.

I was starting to think I'd found the only one without suspension lol thanks for doing a great video!
Nice job Carl, nice to see you out working
Nice job Carl.
i've got pretty much the same thing and those are so much fun.
Had one just like this as a kid and even had the same tires as this one.
Awesome channel and video thank you 😊
Thanks for checking my channel out
Good stuff Carl. Brought back to it's glory!!
Good job.
Good job
Good job on the moto 4 Carl, gotta keep the 80's four wheelers alive. Come do to pa if you ever want to try bottom end work I got a 86 230s quadsport motor sitting on the table that needs crank bearings.
no thanks haha
I know this is a crazy question, but where does the negative from the battery connect to? The one I have did not have a battery just the pull start. I'm trying to get the starter to work.
I have that same exact four-wheeler, there great to ride in, idk if you'll see this but what kind of clutch does it have. I've heard that it has a internal clutch belt or just a regular clutch. If you know let me know because minds wearing out....and there are so many from year to year.
Change your oil filter if you haven't already I gotta use tri moto from a guy that never changed it and it would keep stalling because the oil filter was completely clogged up
I need help with mine. It was in a fire but the wires from the engine are good and have no clue what the wiring diagram is for it. Could you help me out?
Lol yes there is a decompress switch on the right side of that model. You flip it first then use the pull starter .just saying so you know.
Hey buddy I can’t find any videos on this is there away you could show me how the front plastics go on I can’t seem to line the back side up toward the driver
Is that loud clicking/rattle from the front of the engine normal? Mine seems to be in good shape, good compression, no smoke, and valves are adjusted but it makes the same noise
It your cam chain tensioner
I have two with locked up engines I want to fix can you tell me where you found your parts for yours
Brandon Culver Sure I looked the parts on yamahapartshouse.com and ebay
No suspension, and semi automatic?
I have the exact same model and year. It currently it is low on compression. The loss of compression began on a trail ride last February and it has been parked since. The culprit is a leaking base gasket on the cylinder. It will fire but does not stay running. Any advice on fixing it?
Well there are plenty of repair manuals out there, if you have a lot of time, patience for cleaning parts and a nice clean organized shop to work in, it can be a fun project, if not I would just sell it off
@@carlhartman9358 do you have any recommendations on where I should purchase the gaskets and piston?
@@RonniePUBG I looked up parts on yamaha partshouse.com, then I would find the part numbers on eBay, I found a Wisco piston and try to find a high-quality gasket set and use permatex high tach sealer
Does anyone know if the 225 cylinder rebuild kit would work on my yfm 200?? Just bolt on kind of deal like normal installation?
Did you ever find a rebuild kit or cylinder? I’m having the same issue
@@kwuzil5918 for the yfm 200 rebuilding is expensive especially buying a new cylinder. So your better off boring yours out and give the shop your oversize piston so they can fit it properly before they to the work. If you wanted to use the cheaper and easier to find yfm225-250 you would have to split the engine and use the corresponding connecting rod. So long story short a yfm225-250 rebuild kit won't work. The reason is the connecting rod is too short and you would have too low of compression. If your cylinder is really bad you could find one on eBay pretty cheap.
Looks like the timing chain has stretched a bit you should have replaced it
Where did you get your service manual
on line somewhere
Clymer makes a very good service manual. Not sure of the cost but it is a large paperback book. I have one and also own a 1985 Yamaha 200 Moto 4 which I am restoring.
I have 2 1985 1989
arent you the dude who sails around in that old boat with your wify?
sorry you are mistaken
