Our turn. Yes at last after a lengthy wait of disappointing rescheduling of dates it was finally happening. After a comfortable nights sleep at the Thistle we made our way down for breakfast and enjoyed the views as we watched the Planes land and depart at T5. After doing the twilight check-in the previous evening we collected our hand luggage, checked out and waited for TFL bus back to T5 ( number 423 ). The bus stop is outside the hotel opposite the Prem Inn and again it ran every 20 or so minutes. Straight through Departures and through to Security with Boarding Passes and Passports in hand took no more than 15 mins, although the airport is still not operating to full capacity handled the flow of travellers well. We did have a little worry going through the bleeper machine, although watches were fine to be left on but only if it wasn’t a smart watch set the machine off on each occasion. Once cleared it started to become more of a reality that we are flying. Sat down waiting for our gate to be announced just people watching, it was still surreal that we are leaving today but until I was on the plane, belted up than it would be reality. Vanessa had found a refillable water staton on the top floor so we topped up before we were due to board the 9 and half flight. The flight is on time as we boarded and was welcomed by the crew.
THE FLIGHT✈️
A good selection of entertainment on screen for Adults and children, the cabin crew were brilliant, the food going out was very strange, a choice of Veg Biriyani or Chicken Pie. Yes please 😁🥧what arrived was chicken which was very tasty but instead of a pastry top, had mash covering the chicken. Served with a salad and chocolate mouse for deer was nice along with a choice of drinks. The meal delivered an hour before landing was very different, a chicken ceaser sandwich and a Kit Kat but the advantage in this would be more room for the meal which awaited down International Drive.
TOUCHDOWN 🇺🇸
We are here finally here, off through immigration which took approximately 35 mins and then to baggage pick up, a couple of flights had landed either side of us but again pretty good. On to Budget to collect the rental, bearing in mind we are a party of three we were rewarded with a Chevrolet Traverse. With seven seats, the luggage quickly took care of the third row and one in the second.
THE HOTEL🏨
On leaving MCO a journey of 15 mins and a toll of just under 3 dollars we negotiated traffic which was quite light and navigated down Universal Boulevard and cut through onto international drive to our hotel the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando, A quick check in and in our room for 8 o clock👍.
MILLERS
Little or no introduction needed for one of my if not all time favourite restaurants / bar. Quality food / portion and price and ideally situated in the middle of International Drive next to Pointe Orlando. Milers is a must for any traveller who finds themselves near one.
