Comments on here are hilarious, personal attacks of him being boring, smug, wanker etc yet no one can comment on the content of what he's saying. Probably because you don't like facts and are drawn to empty rhetoric. The people who want brexit have not got ordinary peoples best interest at heart. One brexit supporter tell me what are the things that the EU does that affects their lives negatively. Tell me the tangible benefits of brexit, actual facts not empty rhetoric about sovereignty and taking back control which has been proved to be a falsehood as we are a sovereign nation that makes our own laws. I look forward to a fact based reply .......

      Jonathan Pattison ...
One aspect of peoples lives affected negativily is the fact they can't find a place to live !! People on low incomes and some families are living in b+b .or are renting rooms in shared houses..when you have an unlimited influx of people with the same needs there is only so much social housing to go around ...people like o' Brian are unaffected by this and couldn't care less about it . Second ...o 'brian claims irreparable damage will be done by leaving the EU with no deal ...this is a wild assumption not based on any fact ..only his worthless opinion ...

One tangible effect would be to have full control of our fisheries - we are an Island nation with no fishing industry 1 job in the sea = 4 on land. can you agree that the EU in the mid nineties destroyed our fishing industry, as fishing was not not on our checklist when they chalked out who was to make money where - the EU regulates the markets to ensure unfair advantages to european companies - mainly german and french, tariffs are placed by the EU not by the UK. as a sovereign nation non member of the EU we would be able to set our own trading regulations and our own tariffs can we do that now sir - can we fuck - 85% of our trade is done outside the EU the tariffs our country pays on that 85% is set by the EU how is that sovereign ? so are we are a sovereign nation that makes our regulatory rules then ? are we a sovereign nation that trades independently with other nations on our own terms ? does a sovereign nation conscript its army to a European super state army controlled by self electing officials in Brussels ( same as soviet union that pal) we have different idea of the meaning of sovereignty, are you not a proud british patriot sir - and what rhetoric of substance did you post there pal ? where is your fact based proof that its a falsehood that we are not a sovereign nation anymore - i look forward to a fact based response on the fisheries, regulations and tariffs aspect of being a sovereign nation - also where is your evidence that 17,4 million people dont have this country's best interest at heart what a prick you are with a statement like

Nigel Farage didn't specifically say that No deal is better than a bad deal he did however say very similar things:
The three examples i have found of Nigel Farage clearly stating that he thought No Deal / WTO terms would be preferable to our current terms of membership:
    - In his Interview with Andrew Neil, this is where he went into the most detail as to why he preferred WTO to our current membership terms. The relevant part begins at 19:55
    ua-cam.com/video/gA80i3FNAts/v-deo.html
    - In his opening speech at the Spectator debate starting at 09:15
    ua-cam.com/video/uYTJGBBjkGo/v-deo.html
    - And in his ITV debate against David Cameron, check the third exchange starting at 4:55

I'm not against him, he is just a natural product of politics and assosiated media going down the drain and failing to represent the people.
All you do is wonder how you could have sabotaged Farage, or obstructed him, when you should be focusing on dealing with issues that affect GB's population (really affect - not racial and sex balance of a tv program). He will soon be back to discussing parking tickets, and then at some point LBC will drop him. I have read the book, and whilst i’m enjoy listening to people with different opinions, it reads as a fisher-price ‘my first liberalism book’. The arguments are so underdeveloped and also contains many errors. It’s more of a mini-book made up of transcribed calls i’ve already heard. A vanity driven book over the desire to convey a message.

Britain was feeling good about itself, religion was on the wane, comedy and music were awesome, we had the internet and mobile phones but it hadn't gone mad yet. It was before 9/11, before Islam was the only topic on the news, before burqas were common on the streets and the Berlin Wall had fallen. I'm honestly not sure who determined exactly what racism is but I think its a pretty straight-forward construct. Surely if you acknowledge race (which you did) then you can acknowledge racism which is essentially what you have described (discriminating or subjecting an individual or group of people to prejudice due to the skin tone). Its not a trick question, if you're happy to define people by race then surely racism is a relative concept.

I've listened to that interview. It was a complete car crash. O'Brien huffed and puffed and continuously tried to divert the conversation with ill thought out red herrings that made him look like a fool.
You can tell his calls are heavily vetted so only those with the weakest arguments get through. On the rare occasion he gets any resistance, he simply bullies the caller by talking over them and then cutting them off.

Never mind Victoriana, why would anyone want to go back to the UK of the 70's (at or around the time the UK joined the EEC)? Bread strikes, 3-day week, rationed power, oil crisis ... probably not a period to feel nostalgic about, and the immediate precursor of what the UK is walking away from. I assume that going back to pre-EU membership means resetting the clock to that period.

Quite easily if they are complicit on perpetuating disinformation to mislead the public. Democracy in the modern age once relied on an objective reporting of the facts by the press, but when that press is owned or controlled by those be fitting from the disinformation they are putting out, then who benefits? Not Democracy. As for the rest: they are entitled to their opinions, not their own facts.

The leave campaign did lie, they lied about the NHS go and read the IFS report on will leaving the EU provide a dividend for the NHS and you will see first hand the lies you were sold and the ‘making a deal with the EU will be the easiest from human history’ well we both know how that’s gone.

I don't think he's "smug" - smugness requires you have a tangible track record of achievement to boast about/ be proud of. What has James O'Brien actually done to be smug about? He's written a book - his own opinion on a number of topics. So what? Defining yourself or your position as "right" and the opposite as "wrong/ false" needs to demonstrated, not just claimed. Self-deluded might be a more accurate description.....? Does James believe in a flat-earth, fairies and Father Christmas?

FACT: we were known as the ‘sick man of Europe’ before joining the EU and have since become the 5th strongest economy in the world.
