Huh, I apprenticed at that power station (well, the 'A' station, but we visited the 'B' station a lot where this got installed) in the late 00's! Awesome to see they did a segment on it, was always special to see these kinds of loads coming in even when I was working there. Had a few generators delivered in my time, not quite as long but still had those huge support beams.
I remember it at night on the last leg along the A34, one of the bogies got stuck on the verge at Milton Interchange two miles from Didcot. I missed the last bit driving over the narrow rail bridge to the Power Station, still not sure how they managed that!

True but TORQUE is the most important factor

It dates the footage when 500hp is mentioned as the lower powered 44 tonners today will be around 450 and quite a few will be 700+.

Exactly, it was always a good watch in those days when it was a proper “magazine” type show. Tony Mason was great.
