      @@ContagusCars thank you again !!
      I did change my thermostat and housing today using the trash bag mod. and your clear views of the process gave me all the confidence. The bag caught about 3 cups of juice, almost NO mess at all doing this. Never seen that.. Nice technique ! All when great. 👍

    Thank you from a 75 year young retired lady. Had a price quoted between $300 and 465 to change out my thermostat. Omgoodness, I thought that can't be that hard...well I followed your video and with limited basic tools I did it. Old mouse nest and all, fun and very scary but I did it. The only really hard part was getting at that nut in the very back by wall of the air thingy, if I had a better tool maybe, but to find out it wasn't even tightened by Jeep. I took all precautions for mess but still had a bit. Went to the dollar store for the catch pan under engine and used large plastic bag to tuck in over the wheels and more thingies to keep them dry, all came together. It truley was so easy any one can do it I proved that, if I had to do again it would take me 15 minutes. Thank you for you great video. I can't believe what these mechanics are trying to do to us, its out right wrong. PS...I know nothing and I mean nothing about cars.....go do it!!

    My guy! Thanks. Saved me tons of money. A $500 repair cost me about $30, which included the radiator cap. Thanks again, fella.

    Thank you, I was worried about pulling the plastic piece off but after watching you rip it off with a vengeance i wasn't worried anymore!!! Great video! My problem did not actually point to the thermostat because of where the water seemed to be leaking from, but after checking and double checking all the hose's it was the cheapest/easiest/quickest option to try next and it worked! Thanks again.

    Hello, So there is no need to flush the radiator to do this process?

    • @ContagusCars
      @ContagusCars  4 місяці тому

      No just don't get any radiator fluid on your belts. They might get oily and squeak. Sorry for the late response. Thanks again for choosing this video. I really appreciate it. Thanks again

  • @adiobracy4272
    @adiobracy4272 9 місяців тому +1

    So you didn’t drain the radiator fluid first? Trying to figure out if I had to drain it completely then refill afterwards?

      No actually I did not. When I took it off all I did was replace it. I did put a little in my reservoir just because. Thank you for your comment and support I really appreciate it. If you haven't already please subscribe, share, like and join the family. Thanks in advance!

    Im replacing my thermostat this weekend, how do you know when all the air is out of the system?

    • @ContagusCars
      @ContagusCars  8 місяців тому

      It Has a valve on top of it. And you just have to twist it with the Phillips screwdriver. Thank you so much for your comment and support I really appreciate it. If you haven't already please subscribe, share, like and join the family. Thanks in advance

  • @FrostyTerps21
    @FrostyTerps21 10 місяців тому +1

    How did you know when all the air was "gone"? You just start the car, wait like 10 seconds and then close the valve?

    • @ContagusCars
      @ContagusCars  10 місяців тому

      @FrostyTerps21
      Yes get it all together and open up the valve and wait until a lot of water comes out and you should be good. That's all I did. Thanks for your comment and support I really appreciate it. If you haven't already please subscribe,share, like and join the family. Thanks in advance

    I wondering what the issue was that led to the thermostat needing to be replaced. I'm assuming it was some minor overheating, and erratic temperatures. I'm having the issue where my Jeep will sit at 220-225 while driving but at lower speeds and idling can start to get to 230-250. I recently had a coolant flush and that seemed to solve the issue for a bit but I am thinking I need to replaced the thermostat. Any help?

      I think you should definitely fix your thermostat. I don't think it will hurt and it would probably help your situation. And it's pretty inexpensive. Thank you for your comment and support I really appreciate it. If you haven't already please subscribe, share, like and join the family.

    Sr for a 2012 jeep grand cherokee what thermostat should i get rated temperature? My mechanic set it up too were it opens around 215-225 how u do that does it just depend on the thermostat u get? That it opens at a certain temperature? Also whats a normal temperature this vehicles run at thank u iam young and i dont have a father figure so iam trying to get it done my self the mechanic got mad 🤷🏽

      The thermostat I used was a 203. Yes it all depends on the one you buy. Your jeep should run between 200 and 215 if it gets to 225 that's to hot. I hope this helps you out. I really appreciate your comment and support. Thank you so much, let me know if I can help you with anything else. If you haven't already please subscribe, share and like this video

    Thanks for helping the community with your video but to help save people searching for the right video, can i suggest you edit your title and add 3.6 petrol as there are at least 3 different engine variants for this model. Thanks :)
