Question of the Day: What else would you like to know about these amps? Is there another amp in this price range you would like for me to review? To get the most out of your Fender Champion 20, check this video out: ua-cam.com/video/OiMxoGqVzxc/v-deo.html
I was just considering these very amps for my next purchase so this review is perfect. Thanks for sharing your expertise in this video. I'm definitely buying the Orange.
Bought the Orange Crush 20 a couple days ago also thanks to this review, sounds absolutely fenomenal, put a tube screamer in front of the dirty channel and it becomes tight and modern sounding. It takes pedals absurdly well and sounds fantastic even at low volume.
Hey bro i got a orange crush too does the tube screamer sound better in the dirty channel or clean? I tend to play chuggs a lot im considering to buy a overdrive pedal want to know of its worth it
Hey man I absolutely love your vids I just recently bought a fender champion 40 thanks to you! Can you please do an Arctic Monkeys - I bet you look good on the dancefloor tone, much appreciated, love your channel!
Thanks for the comparison. I have the Orange Crush 12. Based on your video, I would go for the Orange Crush 20. No matter if has no effects like reverb or delay. Regards.
me and my brother literally have these same 2 amps, i have the 20RT tho. i love them both. tbh those the orange needs an od. i use the boss sd1 and it sounds incredible. havent tried it with the fender tho. thanks for this video u helped us understand how to get the most out of these 2 amps!!
Have the Crush 20RT- it totally wipes the floor with some 50W amps and the reverb is excellent - using it for blues and jazz! I've just added a Tank-G with some customised AM2 preamp models and some IRs and I can feed it through the guitar input... or through the aux-in port! If I ever upgrade the Crush 20RT... it'll be to a Crush 35RT, as I think the Orange 'sound' can't be beaten!
Im leaning towards the Orange 20, with qll the bideos im finding. I like the way they look and its the same price as the vix mini I have now, but I can use pedals with it.
Thanks for this video. I am considering to buy an Orange Crush 20 and a good processor. Since I am a beginner I think Orange Crush 20 Amp and a good processor would be a good option for me. But could not decide about the processor. Though I have inclined to buy a Boss ME 80. Nowadays there are many modern processors eg. - Boss GT 100 /200, Valeton 100 /200 and similar others. So please help me to find a better processor for beginner like me. Instead of buying an Orange Crush 20 + a good processor, would it be worth buying only Black Star ID Core V 3? Please let me know. Thanks.
So maybe the champion 50 would be a better choice? Looking for a decent amp for my 15 year old. He only has a cheap 5 watt amp that came with the guitar combo I got him last year. I want something he can use for a few years
Your Crush20 vids made me buy one for myself! Just wanna ask, why doesn't it "chug" that much? Is it bec. I use a Strat copy (all single coil pickups)? Did you use your humbuckers on your Ibanez on all of your Crush 20 vids? Thanks! Viewer from the Philippines here!
I did use humbuckers for all of the demos in this video. I think I used humbuckers in most of the other videos too. I usually post that info in the description section of each video. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Have you tried the fender volume at 7 or 8? The distortion will change in the higher tones (in my Fender amp experience). Maybe it will even out the woof in the speaker. Thanks for this review, you're awesome at presenting material!
The higher the volume on my FenderChamp 20 the worse mine sounds. I mean it's offensive. I bought an orange crush 35rt instead and am selling the Fender. Should be a $40 kids amp.
I think the Champion 20 does great for bedroom playing. I think the 40 might be too much. That is my opinion if you only want to use the amp for bedroom practice. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@5MinuteMusic Thank you for the reply. I like the idea of a footswitch jack and 2 channels on the fender champion 40, but I'm afraid it doesn't sound good as the champion 20 on bedroom volume level. So, what your thoughts?
I'm an Orange fan through and through. If I want the effects for this amp, I just use pedals. Or, get the new Orange Crush 20RT which has the built-in reverb.
My Fender Champion 40 acts the same way at low volumes. I know your goal was to stay under $150, but stepping up to the 40 provides the two channels like the Orange Crush. While these 20s are very nice, it was worth the extra $50 for me to step up the Fender food chain.
Do you think the Crush 20 RT has the same clean sound like the version without Reverb? Could it be that the "existence" of the reverb changes the sound? I mean even if it is not turned up...
I assume also you are aware off that the Orange Crush 20RT do have Reverb?! But then it's no longer a under $150 amp. I paid €160 for mine. Nice vids btw.
Turning mids down, treble up on high gain tone is just a terrible idea. Especially with an Orange amp, you should play to their strengths, which are the mids.
Have you tested all these amps without any pedals in this video? I would really need help in advice of buying new amp, but videos i see on internet not helping me enaugh 🥺
So when my buddies and I play together I sometimes use his champion 20. I like the sound and the effects it has and it’s loud enough to hear over the drums. So would the championship 40 be louder but still have the same effects as the 20?
@@joonapuurunen5602 That is true! I think they are all very useful and cover different aspects of these great amps. I am also planning a series of videos on the Crush 12, and on one of the Marshall amps in this price range. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@marciopaivaRS well I'm going to be almost exclusively playing it at bedroom levels once I get it in a few hours. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to test the 20 v the 40 but 40 sounded great even very quiet in my opinion. And the 2 channels I think is a big improvement in tone options and also just having the clean chanel.
The FenderChamp is absolute junk if you wanna play metal. I mean it's offensive. I bought one as my 1st amp, I've only made one payment to PayPal Credit for the 6 month payment plan for it, and already bought an Orange Crush 35RT to replace it. I'll be selling the Fender. The orange is twice the price new, but sounds worlds better, has a buffered FX Loop (look it up its an awesone feature), a footswitch for clicking from heavy to clean while playing, a 10 inch speaker (2in bigger than Fender20) and with pedals you can get all the sounds that the Fender offers and they'll sound better. But just get ANYTHINH else but the Fender. Anything.
This review is MISLEADING.. The amp actually sounds SMALL in real life. The sound is big here because the mic is way to close to the speakers like what people do in recording. You don't put mic in front of your amp when practicing in your bed room. I wish amp reviews have a set of mic that records the ACTUAL human hearing distance. Not like STUDIO MIC level.. By putting a mic in front of these amps makes the amp sound like a 100watts amp.. when in reality the sound is WAAY smaller and the distortion is WEAKER. The sound is exaggerated here and BIG because of the mic. The mic is producing that big sound, not the amp.
That is a great idea! I might try experimenting with a close mic vs. room mic comparison and see how that works. Also, when I play with these amps, I usually set them up on a desk and I sit down in front of them. When I do that, the amp does not sound small or weak at all. Thank you for watching and commenting!
