I think your margins are quite reasonable considering the work you put into them before retailing them with a warranty. If a member of the public bought similar vehicles from the auction and had to pay independent garages to do clutch, brakes, suspension, paint, wheels, tyres etc, in some cases it would be more than your asking prices.
Of course Lee still makes a good profit. So that just goes to prove that garages are massively overcharging customers for car repairs. Or to put it another way, it becomes unviable for a customer to repair an old car, so they trade it in, and bingo, suddenly the trade find that it is cost effective after all, it really doesn't cost as much as they charge. Rip off Britain.
@davidhoneysett8245 I know that you won't/can't be convinced but a retail cost will always be more than a garage doing repairs for themselves. Imagine Tesco selling bread for what it cost them to buy....pointless.
I drive a lot of miles and every day I think why are modern car colour so drab and boring!!! Silver, white, black and boring grey 😴 bring back some excitement to colours!
Its cold its nearly Christmas and gas and electric is going up faster than car prices are going down so a car is the last thing on my mind plus I dont need another money pit like people leaving the windows open when the heatings on
I had a 4x4 Sedici (same car) and with winter tyres was unstoppable in the snow. Happily went over the Pennines on minor roads and if you struggle, simply press the centre diff lock button (I know it isn't a real centre diff lock....I've been on the internet before and mentioned it 😆 )
Years ago we had a Rover45 that would start and then immediately stop, and strangely enough that was due to a bad cell in the battery. You would expect that once a car is started, it will keep going, but the electronics sometimes don't see it that way and will shut the car down.
Your cars are prepped to a really lovely standard very impressed with your standard of stock. The dead focus should pay you back in some way, if it saves you refurbishing a set of alloy wheels then so be it. It’s all money you don’t have to spend
I had that exact same Jag. Loved it!!! For about a year, but even 6 months in stuff started going wrong. Had a huge issue with water ingress, battery leakage and the alternator. I have a new Fiat 500 now and yes, it’s a ‘downgrade’ but it’s so great to drive, cheap too! So far so good!
O dear o dear that jag will be nothing but a headache 😂 had a 2010 3.0 tdv6 for nearly 5 yrs spent more on it than Russia spent on ammo 😢 NEVER AGAIN!!! Got a ls460 now what a machine she is.
I'm with you on the C-Max wheels, I think they're ugly too but, I'd either put it out as is and offer the option to the buyer of which wheels they prefer or just put it out as is, sell the car with them on and get the ugly sight out of your eyeline 😂
You do prep your cars very well. That 'Lancia thingy, new discs pads, shocks all round, sump. Refurb the wheels on the Ford, it will look shite with the wrong wheels on it
Your Citroen C1 is red, but I'd say the reason it's not selling is those awful black wheels. Repaint them silver and I'd bet you'll sell it, no bother.
The wheels on the titanium need to be the horrid originals or it will look like a lower spec car. What’s with the Astra J it’s a bit multicoloured. I looks like it’s had a prang and had a door a bonnet in a different colour
What may be putting people off the Clio is the mileage on a petrol engine. Don't think the colour is off-putting at all, I'd quite fancy that as a wee runabout with our 308 on borrowed time.
Those Clios are bonny things in bright colours ......... those in slate grey and black are boring but the bright reds and bright blues are nice. That 108 - if you are buying 2nd hand and only spending two and a half grand you take the best you can find not get fussy over the colour !!! My wife recently bought a Viva and loves it. I like it too tbh. Decision made on test drive and when I told her ( previously an owner of 2 Chevrolet Matiz over a period of 14 years ) of its Chevy Smart heritage
When I had roadworks outside my business for 7 weeks closing the road (water company) affecting my business, I applied for compensation (advising of the revenue for previous years for said months) and I received compensation for the difference. Hope things pick up for you.
That Maserati looks a million dollars! I don't need one, not wanting to change my car right now and know it's not cheap to run. But I'd be proud to have that outside my house.
I had a Clio like that while my own car was getting fixed during lockdown , I liked it . Quite nippy for 1000 cc . .............God I hate ABS Sensors ! ...................🤩
22:01 the Mercedes shame it's a petrol and not a diesel I was really interested in that seeing as its having a new timing chain fitted I'm after a nice reliable prestige car with a manual gearbox and diesel engine, no rush got my trusty yaris to get me about in the mean time.
I agree about the Clio colour. It's not what suits it, BUT.... I rent Clios in France sometimes. They are super to drive. The steering is like a racing car. They also drive nicely in gusty storms, and the driver does not feel it. One thing I do dislike is dark coloured cars. Red or lighter works for me. Red suits the Aygo/107/C1 for me.
There’s nothing wrong with the Jag 3 litre engine - if you look after them and, it it’s a diesel don’t ignore the DPF full warning. Ran mine for way over 100k and never had to do anything apart from brakes etc. brilliant cars. For some reason Jags seem to last better than Land Rover and I suspect it has a lot to do with their owners! When was the last time you were carved up by a Jag driver?
I'd change the c max wheels I'm not a fan of the titanium wheels either I much prefer the snowflake zetec wheels but the ones off the focus would look fine
With regards to the cmax I'd probably concentrate on the boot that appears damaged rather than worry about the wheels, the clio suits the red in my opinion!
November is rather quiet here too. Lee, make some fake 'Black Friday', 'Singles Day', 'Whatever Day' offers and maybe people will bite. Love the color on that long-staying Clio, btw!
A family member has a B-Max, same spec, with the exact same wheels. I'd keep it standard as more likely to appeal to the target market if kept original
Lee for the door on the black 3 door Aygo give John and James a buzz at Baxenden Breakers. They do a Chester Copart run every day so could meet you at lymm
Another good video lee, i agree id change the wheels me personally, would lift the looks abit, quick question mate, whats better in your opinion the aygo, c1 or 107, really considering buying one, great little cars
You need to get on with your motors ! Seem a decent lad BUT the 'dealers' who make good money NEVER have a car on the yard over 3 months, costs too much in parking space for percentage of costs 😪
Those perforated FIAT sumps are caused apparently according to a dealer mechanic by Fiat anticipating a large order so they tell their supplier to make say 300 sumps in advance where the supplier stores the sumps unpainted for months gathering moisture. When Fiat finally get the batch of sumps for fitting, Fiat simply paint the sumps without treating them so further down the line they rust through. Obviously Fiat hasn't bothered to address this issue. That's Italians for you I suppose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "Not a my a problem!"
Them Renault Clios in that 3 stage red colour are a nightmare. I had one on the forecourt for over a year and ended up sending it back to the block to get shut of it and just to see the back of it and the cash back in the bank 🤦 Good luck with it!
Lee. The stiff gears SX4. Happens Colts SX4 Alfa 147s. What is it. The linkage?? It’s never in box but ruins the drive. Think you’ll know what causes them go stuff not have the return to centre spring
My sympathies with the road closures. I’ve been in retail for 37 years and suffered many closures & traffic lights that have affected my business. You get no compensation and the money you lose never comes back.
I bought a car for £3,700 8 months back and bought the cheapest non-crashed one of the model I wanted that I could find. 144k on the clock. It needed £800 spending immediately and people who know were blown away by how cheap it was. Good ones were going for up to £10k. Maybe more. There is one on the market now for £5,800 - nicer interior than mine, nicer condition bodywork, nicer colour, better interior in better condition and 70k less on the clock than mine. Arguably the other one is £2k better than mine before we consider mileage. One example, but prices could be down 30% in 8 months. Sports car, 2006, by the way.
I had a C-Max as a company car - 2012 diesel model. Garbage. When I sent it back to the leasing company after 3 years it was my lowest mileage ever car because of the amount of time it spent at the dealers. Put me Ford products forever
Two things wrong with the c max you had no 1 it was a dirty diesel all diesel are crap ! No 2 it was too new the older ones were much better 2007 2008 ones were ultra reliable 😉 as long as they were 1.8 or2.0 petrol .
Lee...wondering if you're interested in a 2010 Captiva? Few extras on there including dashcam and had bearings done last year afaik. A friend's dad about 15m south of you has to stop driving (stroke). Has a lot of miles I hear.

The problem with that 107 may well be the black wheel trims, they don't go with a red car. Silver ones would lift it.
Yes your the 4th person to mention it, will get them changed 👍
I like black wheels.
The Ford C- max, being a Titanium model, I'd personally keep it on the Titanium wheels, but that's just me.
Same

Clio colour ? Love it myself....Don't mind the Viva either , both easy to find in car parks !
Who wouldn’t want metallic red. Great colour.
The Renault red is up there with the similar Mazda red with the best mass market colours.
I drive a lot of miles and every day I think why are modern car colour so drab and boring!!! Silver, white, black and boring grey 😴 bring back some excitement to colours!
Nice colour that clio.
Its cold its nearly Christmas and gas and electric is going up faster than car prices are going down so a car is the last thing on my mind plus I dont need another money pit like people leaving the windows open when the heatings on
Lee I'd get the SX4 dragged out and prepped, lots of snow forecast and they'll be crying for a 4x4! 👍
Your right, Hot stock that hoggmotorsport 😁
I had a 4x4 Sedici (same car) and with winter tyres was unstoppable in the snow. Happily went over the Pennines on minor roads and if you struggle, simply press the centre diff lock button (I know it isn't a real centre diff lock....I've been on the internet before and mentioned it 😆 )

The Fiat 500 is a great little stylish car, bought a Ford KA for one of daughters 1st car, basically the same thing and hardly an issue with it.
Fiat 500 nothing but trouble.
Fix it again Tony

Not been a great week for Jaguar has it!
@ No 😞
Love the Clio colour; the 107 would look much better with silver wheel trims, it looks too chavvy.
I am going to order some trims for it later, I was thinking the same kevin and now you have just confirmed my thought. Many thanks 👍
Agree, was just about to write the same about the rims.
I'm in on the wheel colour too 😊
Agree with the trims
Black rims are fine on some cars but too many end looking like boy racer chav mobiles especially the smaller cars.
Friend had a sx4 for about 7 years in Ireland as a little runaround and it never let him down. So much so he’s purchased another small Suzuki.
Black trims o the red car doesn’t work should be silver IMhO. Hope things pick up 👍
Completely quiet here, but as expected around Christmas time. Just hold tight and get stock for next year and carry on I guess.
Love the viva and clio colour ❤I hope sales pick up again. ❤ Have a great week Lee.
thanks Henry

@TheIMobile Yeah colour match looks awful to me too, as do those wheel trims.
I agree. First thing I saw when I looked at it. Black wheels really make it look like a boy racers owned it.
Great walk round, can't believe the Clio is hanging around.i would stick with the wheels on the cmax, get them refurbished,it suits the titanium trim.
What may be putting people off the Clio is the mileage on a petrol engine. Don't think the colour is off-putting at all, I'd quite fancy that as a wee runabout with our 308 on borrowed time.

The 107 looks biy racerish with those wheels, some better wheels will uplift it , then you'll get interested parties 😊🎉
I had a MK4 Clio and I'm a big fan, the colour is nice I can't see why that would be putting people off
Me not bothered with colour of a car and long as it is a good one. I have never gone for a particular colour great video again Lee
I agree about the Clio colour. It's not what suits it, BUT.... I rent Clios in France sometimes. They are super to drive. The steering is like a racing car. Jeez, I must be getting old, I can remember the original Vauxhall Viva.
You can't beat a jaguar.awesome cars, well up in till around 2008 when the styling all went wrong.
They are shutting roads for ages in the south too. I am beginning to think it’s deliberate. They dig a hole, close the road and disappear for weeks.
I like the colour on the clio and the viva, wouldn't put me off.
That's the first time ive seen the inside of a car for over a year, that jag looked like it was from the 70's.

You need to get on with your motors ! Seem a decent lad BUT the 'dealers' who make good money NEVER have a car on the yard over 3 months, costs too much in parking space for percentage of costs 😪
I'd change the titanium wheels , just a personal preference . The Clio could be that when there's a choice at that price the french stuff is last .
You will be devaluing the C-max putting the focus wheels on it as the wheels on the c-max are the correct titanium ones
Red 107 in the corner - good cars! Awful wheels on that. It’s a visual thing, change the wheels it’ll go!
I’d keep the original wheels Lee great video have a grand weekend mate👌🚘👍🏻
great watch for a monday lee
What a pain road closure.

That red clio looks great. I think it's just approaching Christmas and kier startwat has made everyone poorer.😊

The Clio is a nice colour. I dont really like the alloys it has tho - maybe change those
I thought there was more chance of getting the 🍋 Fiat 500 back than getting the Jag out of that yard 😅😂
🤣
My sympathies with the road closures. I’ve been in retail for 37 years and suffered many closures & traffic lights that have affected my business. You get no compensation and the money you lose never comes back.
Keeps the titanium wheels those others are just basic focus wheels
Cheers Lee.
I wish you wouldn't direct camera towards the Ghibli, i can't stop drooling 😂😂

change the wheels hate the originals so hard to clean
I bought a car for £3,700 8 months back and bought the cheapest non-crashed one of the model I wanted that I could find. 144k on the clock. It needed £800 spending immediately and people who know were blown away by how cheap it was. Good ones were going for up to £10k. Maybe more.

Yes I could be, could you send me a reg and details. My email is carukchannel@gmail.com
I much prefer the Titanium wheels
Have you tried Ford with the ecoboom issue … what ever caused it was down to rubbish design…?
Not sure what you mean with the clio colour, just looks a metalic raspberry red… possibly more for a female if it’s a bit more pinky red..🤔
Very spokey wheel is a pain to clean.
Agree
Red French car avoid, Laquer peel and oxdising problems as they age
Great video Lee. Do you know a way to get the vehicle mot details( or equivalent) from a car from N Ireland? Vehicle score shows the dates but not the failure details ? Thanks.
Sadly not, NI tests are ran by the department of transport directly
