I (Deaf) use a wheelchair, and used to travel often, accompanied by my helper (also Deaf).... they would CONSISTENTLY ask him if he needed one! I've never understood this concept!
Wait, are you kidding me???? Seriously???? The guy helping you out, I mean?? Do you have any idea why/how people make the connection between deafness and freaking wheelchairs? This actually makes me feel kinda grateful that all that happens when I tell people I'm autistic is that they get a really weirded out expression on their face and are just all like "oh, okay."
@@hotaruishere2133 Hahaa... yes, seriously. We get handed braille menus in restaurants, asked if we/he needs a wheelchair to exit a plane, or I say I have discalcula and the (WRITTEN!) response is generally "oh, so you can't read! I'm so sorry!" and I'm left trying to make them feel better while educating them on the differences between dyslexia (all written symbols), and discalcula (just affects numbers) ... I teach elementary kiddos this stuff (social model of disabilities, adaptive equipment, ADA laws, how to offer help without overstepping boundaries...) but adults, mostly in the service industries (restaurants, flight crew, people who engage with the public most of their days/nights) ... it's like the whole able-bodied world gets their disabilities mixed up. It's hilarious and sad at the same time. My rule: educate in the moment, giggle/snort later.
I see this gentleman on Facebook. He's hilarious. One day I found out that he has a UA-cam channel. When I turned 30 I was getting applications for AARP, companies were sending me brochures about mobility chairs. So far every time I go to the airport I don't get asked if I need a wheelchair
You're amazing and super cute up there! I laugh sooo hard whenever you just stand there not saying a thing and we all know what you're thinking! HopeI'll see you on stage! (Come to hungary please❤️🫣)
He is one of the cutest human beings for sure
