Installed this bumper on a 2021 Wrangler Sport JL 2 dr on 9/30/23. Additional tools required: Die Grinder (to enlarge one bolt hole), Gorilla Mounting Putty (to be explained), Rubber Mallet (to center bumper once loosely bolted on), 9" Needle Nose Plyers (to grab bolts when barely fed through hole when attaching bumper) and a very talented mechanic (AKA my boyfriend). Install took about 2 hours including a break due to frustration upon putting the bumper on once the fog lights were in. The stock fog lights fit fine. Lifting the bumper on is when the Gorilla Putty saved us. This is "Step 7" in the included instructions. The "nut/bolt plates" DO NOT STAY IN PLACE. I'm guessing this is why this video goes straight to putting the bumper on. One bolt hole, lower hole, passenger side, did NOT line up hence the Die Grinder. We made it work. The front plastic/stock skid plate will go back on w/ some custom metal plates, the original plastic clips and some cutting to fit. This video was extremely helpful to me. I'm not mechanically inclined, knowledgeable w/ tools and this is my first Jeep. My boyfriend has been a mechanic/engineer since his late teens and has owned numerous Jeeps. Get one of those or have one on speed dial! I wish I could upload a before/after pic b/c I really like this bumper. I researched them quite a bit and am 100% satisfied with this one. Purchased through 4x4 Outfitters. Great customer service and shipped in about 3 days!
This is correct. This bumper is an absolute engineering fail. No longer are the studs attached to the bumper. Instead you are given some idiotic stud attached to a blind bolt with nothing to hold it in place while trying to install. So guess what? They fall out every time. The only way I can see to install this is to weld it to the frame.
This bumper has changed a lot since this video. For starters, this bumper does not work with OEM LED fog lights from a factory steel bumper. The allen head screws used for the fog lamp bracket aren't great because the bumper is sprayed after assembly, and the screw holes are covered in coating. Ended up going with 7mm bolts instead of the screws. The actual install is pretty simple but the bolt/mounts are not welded on they are four pieces (one bolt, one nut on each) so highly recommend you have a second set of hands around to help you out. If you don't you'll constantly be taking the bumper off to try to realign the bolts, as they float around in the mounting plate. The fit, once on, is great and the bumper is relatively light. Biggest gripe was the instructions are terrible, almost not worth reading because they blend JK/JL together as if the two are identical. You will not be using the mounting hardware from your old bumper (if replacing an OEM steel bumper on a JL), so keep that in mind because it isn't called out. I was happy with the overall build quality but it is somewhat silly there isn't a skid plate for this bumper.
Ordered this bumper September 2. Installed today. Video was quite a bit off from what the actual install consisted of. She shows using those chips for the fog light screws. No. This one had a bracket on each side to install and use these little screws and try with your fingers to hold the not underneath it and tighten them down. Very frustrating. Second the bumper required some hokey brackets using plastic threaded cards to keep them in place while mounting the bumper to the frame. Took 2 people to keep everything aligned and from those bolt brackets and bolts from flopping around too much to get them into the front frame holes. Took 3 attempts. Either this video shows an upgraded bumper which is I thought I was ordering and I got an older type of design. Wasn't too happy with the install. Not like portrayed here. It looks very nice on the Jeep now but took double the time it should of. I give it a 2 out of 3 stars on the install rating. Buyer beware.
I just went through the same thing you did. For my fog brackets, one wouldn't even go in. Had to bore it out and use a nut and bolt. The brackets for the bumper were a pain on mine as well. I managed to get 7 of them in, one will not go no matter what, oh well. I did manage to use a motorcycle lift to jack it up while I lined it up, that made it a little easier but it was nothing like this video.
@@Jayhowell72 sounds like we're not the only ones that have had this issue. Extreme terrain should either take down this video or put it the way that it actually installs.

However I would like to know I am getting the bumper shown in this Video (One Merideth is installing) because I'm all the way in Canada and don't feel like shipping the JK bumper back is a cheap option if I get the wrong one.
Took me 4 hours because of the stupid fog light screws and the large bolts were too short to use the crush washer. Pissed me right off.... parts didnt even match the video and the instructions were a joke. Literally stopped giving steps after mounting the fog light. Pissed!
So I ordered a JL and got the JK version. They say it’s the same thing on the phone. I will watch the JK video and go from there, but it would be much nicer if when you place an order in this video link you got this bumper version, as it seems quite a bit easier to put in.
I liked that a woman installed this. It gives a better sense to the weight of the bumper, honestly. Smart choice when weight is a serious consideration for daily-drivers.

I put this bumper on my JL Rubicon and I do not have the LED package. My fog lights fit perfectly. On the product page, my jeep is the silver one with the red fairlead if you dont believe me.
My fog lights lined up with the holes on the new steel bumper. No modification was needed. I thought I would have to drill new holes on the bumper/make a new bracket to mount them but to my surprise, I just popped in the plastic inserts and my OEM fog lights bolted right in. I was looking forward to making a project out of it but I got my time back instead... Perhaps they offer two types of halogen fog lights depending on the bumper? I did not opt for the factory steel bumper when I picked mine up because I knew I would be replacing the bumper anyway.
Fucking yes! Just installed mine, and it was NOT this simple! It come with 4 odd bolts that you have to line up inside of a hole but the only opening is pressed up against the frame so if you drop one while trying to line up you have to completely take off
Ok it's not that simple installing the bumper , I got the one with a light bar , no instructions at all, the screws in the box are not the ones to mount it , and the alignment is a bitch it on. Some of the screws for OEM lights to be put in had issues.
I got the same bumper for my 2020 unlimited sport s but my fogs have 3 point instead of 4...what kind of bracket do I need to make the fogs work with this bumper
wish mine had retaining clips for the fog lights! The bumper in this video is not the same when it comes to hardware install. The fog lights are the most difficult when you have to use a modified bracket to align it. The holes have some of the paint all over the threads so the iddy biddy tiny 2.5mm hex key has no torque at all to push past it. Should advise viewers to watch the JK install instead. THey are trying to sell old stock so everybody is getting the outdated bumper with brackets to align. I wouldn't of ordered this when the video is misleading.
Tried ordering this and following this video. Got all the way to the end until it was time to insert the fog lights before I realized you guys shipped me a JK bumper and not a JL version that I ordered. Fog light brackets are not correct and not the right mounting hardware for the final two steps. Incredibly frustrating!
The standard fog light bracket on the new JLU Sport do not work on this bumper so there is no way to move your JLU Sport fog lamps to this bumper. TOTAL WASTE of the fog lights. And the printed directions are for a JK, totally useless. This video is helpful even though the back plastic part of the bumper is nothing like my JLU Sport bumper.
John Covacci, apparently the halogen fogs mounting points are different. So, the mounting holes won't line up. I heard somewhere that you could trim the non-led brackets to allow them to mount to the led design, but I'm not willing to spend $300 to find out.

The inside build of this bumper is NOT what ExtremeTerrain sends when you order the JL Barricade Adventure HD Front Bumper (J107329-JL). So the install of the bumper is not as easy as it looks in this video. I have tried to explain this, and four calls later, I'm getting nowhere. What you get is the JK bumper with adapter brackets that are in the video for installation of the JK Barricade Adventure HD Front Bumper (J107329). Same situation here; total BS! They know that 99% of the customers will not return the bumper. Seems like they are depleting old inventory from the JK version, so we get brackets to align the fog lights.
@@smoscar yes it fits, but you gotta be very meticulous and flexible fingers. The tiny nut you have to hold and align blindside in a hidden area is near impossible. I was able to do it after 100 times of dropping the nut. Also thought about just drilling a hole and making my own holding area. You'll know if you got the JK version or JL, when you check status of order and it will say JK version. Pray that you get the JL version (no bracket hardware needed) you know the one that everyone thought they ordered.

If you have sport fog lights you can either upgrade to the 4 bolt hole JK/JL option or check out our adapter brackets on the site!
