Jasper’s Valley of the Five Lakes: Swimming Through Memories

Less than two weeks before the 2024 wildfires, we spent a summer day swimming in all five of Jasper’s Valley of the Five Lakes. What started as a lighthearted challenge to escape the heat has now become a cherished memory of a landscape that has since changed forever.
While the forest surrounding these lakes has been lost to the fire, the lakes remain-vibrant as ever-now framed in a whole new light. Though the trail is closed for now, we’re planning to return for more swims once it reopens, embracing the beauty of what comes next.
This is our last look at the Valley of the Five Lakes as it once was-before everything changed.
