John is not the technically best player but he is imho one of the most creative, innovative and expressive musicians and that’s more important to most people.

Unreleased b-side. The RHCP have a whole plethora of B-sides that are just as good, if not better than their material that made it on the album.
They definetly should do a compilation. I once heard Frusciante saying that he would love such a compilation aswell, cause he also thinks that many B-Sides were better then the actual songs on the record. It's just, i already own every of their 47 singles, so I pretty much know everything they've put out. This one here was a real gem though, I never heard before. If they ever gonna make such a compilation, I do hope for really rare and previously unreleased material.
It's criminal that "Bunker Hill" was never featured in an album.

This is so beautiful. Such raw emotion in Johns playing, and Anthony's voice too.
I learned this a few years ago. The chords on the verse are Em, D, and A. He plays most of the fills in Em pentatonic

this is from a show they aired live on BBC radio one. It was mostly just improvised as they went lol.

For anyone that might wonder if this is a cover or a b-side in the future, as far as I know (and the internet) this was a one time song, improvised on the spot.
He even says it on the recording: "That was another one, just made up especially for you, tonight. We felt like maybe you needed something special just for yourself."

I believe this is a one off, I have searched and searched for a recorded version for years and this is still one of my favorite songs from RHCP and the fact they just made it up on the spot makes it that much better. Please, if someone knows otherwise, I’d love to be proven wrong -

they didnt make this up on the spot XD all anthony says is that they wrote this song for that one occasion to offer something special :) the peppers are incredible at improvisation but improvising a perfectly rounded song like this is simply not possible ^^
Have you heard some of their other live jams, Tuesday night in Berlin for example? They did it regularly back then.
@@Ploddypop11 i heard lots and lots of their jams. there is a very clear difference when comparing their jams with this song. in jams, the shared exploration is very apparent. in this song, there is 0 exploration at all, everyone knows exactly what to do at any time.
you're wrong, this is a jam and if you've ever been in a band you'll know this is possible, you can tell by the little details like John kicking in late for his part or Anthony killing the solo by coming back early to the "verse"

It appears the show they played this at is 2006, Canvas Club London April 14th. Looking at the setlist, there's no song on there that you couldn't have heard before. www.rhcplivearchive.com/show/apr-14-2006-london-england-818 If I'm not mistaken, this jam is played in the same key as 21st Century.

when the peppers recorded Stadium Arcadium,they recorded 38 songs.from all of those songs,only one wasn't released.so there is an option that this is the only song that wasn't released,and there is only live recording of this song(like the song ''Mini Epic'',for example).

@McC123Ye this is a live recording from their stadium arcadium tour, probably from pinkpop 2006 but they played at some other venues aswell that tour.
This one has all the Core Peppers fundamentals on display the signature 🔥 riff from Johnny Anthony's energy Chad blasting off like onea jack parsons rockets and the Flea /john tagteam tap where here Flea drops a bass solo after John takes over the bass part w his mighty strat
