As someone who works in pool maintenance I can say that pebble plaster will indeed scratch the hell out of you..
Edit: also to add on, yes algae does like to sneak itself in between the pebbles and can be really hard to spot depending on the color of the plaster... there's honestly no functional improvement getting pebble tech over regular pool plaster or hell even fiberglass, it just costs way more, feels worse on wet skin, and is a bitch to install... NOT TO MENTION that there are so many builders that don't know wtf they're doing, making the plaster installation uneven with the pebbles, resulting in large (and very noticeable) light spots of concrete that need to be acid washed in order to get rid of...

My grandma has a pool with mini pebble plaster and it hurts so much to even step on. If you’re not careful you could really hurt yourself, it’s literally so easy to get scraped by that stuff.
You can also get algae growing between the pebbles and it’s ridiculously hard to get out.
Basically what I’m saying is you probably shouldn’t get that kind of plaster, it hurts to touch and algae sticks to it like superglue.
