The pianist knows more about Mercury than the guy in this video! Mercury doesn't "refine" gold like is claimed in this video. Miners used to use it to collect gold dust into a glob since mercury kinda acts like a gold vacuum for small particles, like what would be found in placer deposit, and it is dense so it usually pools down where small bits of gold are. Miners would then use a mercury "candle", which is like a steel candlestick welded to a sauce pan with a metal sheath that fits snugly over the top of the candlestick. Gold laden mercury droplets were put in the small cup at the top, covered with the sheath, and the top of the sheath was heated until the mercury went gaseous where it would condense on the insides of the sheath and run down to puddle at the bottom leaving the gold in the cup at the top and mercury blobbing in the small pan below. This guy didn't do a controlled capture, in ANY way, of the mercury vapors with a distillation apparatus or mercury candle, so he just made mercury vapors blow across his work yard where they likely condensed in microscopic particles and contaminated the soil just a few feet away or poisoned anyone unlucky enough to be breathing downwind 5-25 feet away. Mercury vapors are invisible and extremely toxic to breathe. Mercury causes heavy metal poisoning by bioaccumulating in the human body, the final stages of which mimics insanity. There is no safe exposure limit to mercury, and mercury poisoning is for life. Don't mess around with mercury unless you have training and the proper safety equipment. /psa
If your able to dissolve 1oz of gold into the mercury are you able to recover the 1oz of gold or do you lose a small amount?

I wonder... Is the mercury truly gone??? I still have doubt, but hey!! I'm just a pianist.
