Well done, Jason! In addition to Portland cement (calcium oxide) you could use ground glass or calcium phosphate (available as a fertilizer or bone meal) or crushed magnesite. The problem with using glass is that gold is soluble in molten glass just like lead oxide is. If you were to use bone meal fertilizer, you would first have to burn off all the left over organics like fat which smells bad and smokes a lot. If you used copper as the collector metal while processing the original gold button, you may find a lot of copper remains distributed throughout the final gold button (to be determined with a quick x-ray analyzer). Gold and copper form a pretty strong marriage if inadequate amounts of flux are used. I wish more video authors discussed gold ore processing options like you have done so people wouldn't expose themselves to mercury, vaporized lead, cyanide, nitric acid, and a bunch of related compounds that form during the processing. Again, I must say: "Well done, Jason!"
@@finiszealot5539 I defer to Jason concerning which flux mixture to use. He has done a wonderful series on his experiments with a variety of flux mixtures.

Hi mate just wanted to ask you if you how a idea how much lead I will need to get the gold out of I think the bar weight is 5 kilo bar of mixed metals from gold pins and so on
there are 5 types of Portland cement in my country and I do not know which type is suitable for gold couplling. Please answer my questions. 1-2-3-4-5 ??? Which type do you think I should use ???
Do you know how much lead to use for the different carets or does it not matter? It looks like you used about 6x the weight of the gold... is that a good math on it or can it get more apecific?
My question. At which point do yiu end the process. I was unclear on at the point when this is completely liquefied, as it cools, the gold and the impurities are seperated? And finally, is there a specific formula on how much of the pre-cut metal you need for x amount of Gold? You cut about 140 grams, how did you arrive at that figure?
Are you sure that much lead is needed?. And are you sure there is no more lead left in the gold?. I make jewelry out of gold and silver. And i've been thinking of a way to purify ten fourteen k gold into some more shiny pure k gold ... Also, are you certain you're just losing base? Metals and not losing any gold?

So it doesn't matter the furnace source as long as u have the right cupel material? So u can use bone ash cupels in a normal smelting furnace? Or do u need to have a certain furnace heat source?
I'm not an expert but the lead can be leached from cupel waste effectively with acetic acid. There are some papers about this online but I've not found any definitive information on the exact process. I think theres a number of ways it could be done.
Great video Jason! I was hoping I could ask a rookie question if that's ok?! I'm having a hard time getting all the micro fine gold I'm finding and I was wondering if the blast furnace stage - where you create the Lye/Borax/Silica flux will help me remove all the fine sands. Does this just turn to glass in the slag? This will save me hours of panning gold dust haha! Thanks for all the amazing content man - you're teaching me to mine!! :)
It is better to invest now. You will never be younger than you are today and there will never be a perfect time to invest. Due to compounding, which Einstein called the 8th wonder of the world, you can get rich slowly from investing if you do it from a young enough age.
If we have a lot of other base metals like iron and copper and the lead content is quite high shall we use industrial propane burner instead of ancient wood and blower?
would it would be possible to use this process in separating gold from let's say old cell phones and electronic boards that have visibly good quality gold. Assuming everything is cut up into very small pieces. Could this process be used?
There must've been some gold in that lead, because the finished product is bigger than what you started with. My Dad said to use mercury to gather the gold, and then the mercury needs processed to get out the gold from it. Can't quite recall the process how he said to do that..long time ago..
hi ya jason you talk of using anhydrous borax what is the differ ance of that and just borax could i use regular borax please advise thank you in advance david j.
