Modern logistics ~ It’s impossible to imagine our daily digital lives without them. As consumers, we can shop online 24/7. We expect everything to arrive on time - clothing, devices, furniture or a set of screws. Online shopping is booming: in 2018, couriers, express, and parcel services, the so-called CEP sector, delivered around 3.5 billion shipments in Germany alone. And this is an upward trend. But how does all this work so smoothly, safely, and on time?
We live in turbulent times: digitalization, climate crisis, growing world population, and political and economic instability. How does the logistics industry meet these challenges?
For answers, we need to dive deep into the world of modern logistics. Our film takes us into huge, fully connected warehouses, observing as fleets of cargo planes are lined up, prepared for take-off at night and accompanying couriers on delivery bikes on "the last mile" to the customer.
We look at one of the world's largest logistics providers at work: Deutsche Post DHL Group. We look into solutions of robotization, working together with humans within the warehouse on one hand. But also artificial intelligence and big data crunching are getting more and more important.

As an Uber/Lyft driver (pre-pandemic) in the Cincinnati, OH USA area, I was frequently driving DHL, Amazon and their subcontractors to various hotels and other places around town. Even though I only spent a few minutes with flight crews, it was always very interesting to hear the schedules and adventures of these workers. The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) is the home of Amazon Air and the only other hub that DHL operates. Thank you for this video and letting has a peek at the rest of the DHL empire.

When you interview non-English speakers, please lower the volume on their speaking when you add the English voice over. It's extremely difficult to hear what's being said when two people are talking at the same time at the same volume. I'm surprised that was missed in post-production! Why have humans doing boring tasks ? but a couple of issues 1) how is Logistics of the future (Lotf?) going to mitigate the ten year old UK and European HGV driver shortage likely to impact supply chains significantly this year and to a greater degree next year ? 2) what’s your business continuity plan if a nation state triggers the Kessler Syndrome degrading our global satellite infrastructure as we are currently launching mega constellations with no global governance as the cost of repairing said infrastructure if destroyed would be prohibitive to any nation state 3)why are Amazon employees more at risk of serious injury in a robot enabled warehouse ? 4)Cyberscurity:45% of the east coast of America recently had their fuel pipeline cut off in short order:what’s your business continuity plan to mitigate same as the automated content of your operations increases or are we just going to “Pay the ransom again” ?

China underpays it's slaves. They work extremely long hours and don't get benefits for loyalty. China's emissions are massive, and Alibaba and Tmail STILL use energy to do their work so 0 emissions is just plain fantasy. I'm glad you have 10 less workers... one day it will be 0 workers and you'll wonder how they can afford anything as your society collapses from boredom, depression and no reason for living. But I guess as long as it looks good on "the books", you won't see the rest crashing down around you until there are no "books" (though you probably burn those too). Have a great day.
