Mercedes-Benz Trucks: The World's Biggest Truck Factory | Full Documentary
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- With more than 11,000 employees, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth is the largest truck factory in the world. Every day more than 400 fully roadworthy trucks run off the line here. From Wörth am Rhein they are exported all over the world - sometimes even via the factory-owned container port.
Our truck documentary accompanies the development of a Tractor Actros - from the first drawings of the designers, the work steps in the engine plant in Mannheim to the final assembly of the truck in Wörth.

WELT Documentary really awesome documentary
Thanks Welt. Am from Zambia and am an expert on Mercedes Benz Axor. I would love to see how these trucks are are assembled.
Is the MB engines are the same Detroit Diesel engines, that goes in the Freyghliner truck 🚚 in USA?
Does MB, doesn't make a V8 engines anymore?
And this MB engines are the same the ones that sells in MB🇧🇷 Brazil and in USA🇺🇸 as a Detroit engine, or all is different?

And, of course, the unsung heroes are the people who fix these factory robots, conveyor belts and all when they break down. I respect an individual who can help their team succeed in silence.
This was an incredible exhibition of the genius of German engineering. They are a truly remarkable people. Even the workers look clean cut and intelligent. It is a real "first world" country.
Great video. I loved all the details showed in this video.
As I always say: German people take serious quality and precision.
The way that they store and pick up parts are amazing. The way that they built and test the engines are fantastic.
Thanks for post this video. I loved.
You should see/ check how the Swiss are about quality of ANYTHING if German stuff blew your mind just a thought🤷🏼♂️
i have a workshop in Chile, we repair Mercedes Benz trucks, this documentary is absoluty amazing, i never I thought the engineering behind these trucks, i hope know that factory, you have a new follower, thank you!
I used to drive one of these for a living. Wonderful. More comfortable than any car. A pleasure to go to work.

"words like cupcake & crocodile are not easily forgotten" ain't that the truth I got that stuck in my head now thanks a lot Mercedes.
Simply Amazing how far technology has come, it's hard to comprehend what happened to the Truck and auto industry just in the past 50 years, 100 years ago most people were riding horses lol. Very impressive.
This is an amazing insight to the stringent safety checks, an expertise used in creating these incredible trucks. Every aspect is well thought out, an strategically engineered for maximum efficiency. The Germans put the "T" in technology...............................
This seems to define the terms 'Effecient and Effective' pretty well. The level of tech is mind blowing. Respect
European trucks to American trucks are what a 5-star michelin meal is to a microwave dinner found in a skip.
Bruh Peterbilt will stomp on any truck brand.
Peterbilt, Mack, Kenworth, Westernstar 💯💯💯
Volvo, Benz, International, Sterling 🗑
@West Coast lol no. A peterbilt can go for decent amounts
@West Coast funny that we don't have issues with ours, at least not such issues; Where I work we depend on van-based units and we beat quite the shit out of them, driving them at their limits ... we use the Sprinter for many generations so far and didn't have engine problems. Also many trucking companies rely on the Mercedes-Benz trucks here, no matter if they operate in the flatlands or the mountains, in the far north or south
@West Coast they have issues because they are built by American not German.
@West Coast bro i think the one's in US is more different than the one's in Europe here.
when you put so much effort into production of a truck, there's no way it can't be the best or nothing
The amount of automation is mind boggling!!
thank you!
I love the humor of the production crew, playing "Aces high" over a documentary about a factory in Germany...
Its a BLACK SABBATH - "Paranoid"
It's German humour. No laughing matter...
i would love to see an actros engine gets a tune from AMG😂
They need one
And then a brabus version of that amg truck

I'm already looking forward for a Scania episode
Mecedes was my first truck there. Best cabin for the stock game. But I fell love in Peterbuilt (mod). But in my personal garage and fleet there will be one.
Now I know how they are built.
Such an excellent documentary!! Congrats!!
They need to make cabovers in America again, such nice trucks.
This is excellent...thankyou...
Any AMG trim for those trucks?
Никакой суеты все работает как часы. Молодцы немцы.
There are many cars in the world. The best cars are Mercedes Benz. One name is the whole price
Good documentary, from beginning to the end, very informative...well done WELT.
God bless Great Germany.
I was stunned to see the incredible number of holes in the 2 frame sections at the very beginning of this video. I realize that these frames come standard and are used for many different variations of trucks,. when the truck is done there are so many holes without a bolt in them , how strong is that frame really?
Maybe it's to reduce weight haha. Doesn't look too aerodynamic either. There's nothing like North American made.
@@markm.3297 Yeah, there's nothing as shit as North American made.
It Passed all of the Required test without an Issue so i wouldnt worry about the holes .. alot of companys acutally add Compressors with some of the Holes are used for since atleast here in germany youare not allowed to add more holes lol (not that that would be nessescarry lol)
The holes are all on the sides, there are no holes in the top and bottom, that is where the strength is.
Also you are not allowed to weld anything to the chassis, the only welded joints are where sections are joined together, there is normally two channels one inside the other and riveted together so that the holes between the inner and outer line up for the bolts and cross member installation and they help reinforce the welded joints.
Chassis is very springy, even removal of one cross member as an effect on the overall rigidity. Its incredible how much torsional twist there is on the overall length of a bare chassis when driven, I mean if you follow one on the road you can see it quite noticeably.
@@markm.3297 sure, American is the one and only, with nothing else being good :D :D :D

Anyone else notice music from the movie "The Rock" at ~9:50-10:20 mark and around 32:10-15?
I know it's showing German efficiency, but damn, totally got psyched for it lol
Oh and Iron Maiden! Aces High ~40:20-40:40

I do have to say: Back in the 1970s, who would have thought that a Black Sabbath backing track would be played during a Mercedes Truck factory documentary? :)
Really very cool, glad I found it! Bravo!
Can we get a Mercedes Actros truck in America?? 🇺🇸 🇩🇪
Cascadia prob the closest you'll get to an actros in the u.s
You don't see a lot of the cabover design in North America. Not really sure why, they were big in the 70s and early 80s.

Hi 🌹🌹
Nice to meet you 💜💜
9:00 as a die hard Mercedes I do have to say . Sprinter vans rust like it’s their job. Not sure if the sprinters get the same treatment
MBmann completely agree !! Sprinter pick ups can pull a decent amount of weight though
Yet here in Australia I've never seen one with rust. But then again rusting cars in most of Australia is quite a rare thing nowadays.
I'm in the North East of the U.S and due to the snow and the salt we use to melt the ice on the roads , the sprinters tend to rust .
Coover they rust in the uk because of the rain and if they are near the sea, if you want to buy a 2nd hand car or van then personally I’d try get one inland there usually in better condition
Iveco daily isn't much better sadly
These old trucks can still be seen in the middle East
Excellent documentary!

Fantastic video. Great job.
I just watched the Volvo factory in USA and it looks soo rudimentary compared to this one. Mercedes FTW (except in F1, I want RB to win this year)

Black Sabbath playing in the background 😁 nice, pleased to know that Mercedes aren't above adopting improved work practices from the Japanese
so I tip my hat to them.
Not seen much here in North America but I have worked internationally and I have seen a lot of them in Europe, South America, Central America and Africa.
I guess that's quite an understatement: apart from a few Unimogs, are there any Mercedes-Benz trucks around in the USA?
@@EnjoyFirefighting frightliner and thomas built is mercedes/daimler, so there are some mercedes trucks in the us

i really enjoyed this documentary! the level of detail in the production is impressive. however, i can't help but wonder if focusing so much on automation is actually a good thing. it seems like it could lead to job losses in the long run. what do you all think?

Hi
When it comes to making things. you can't beat the Germany. they are so good at it.
The engine is bad on the Actros. Not actually bad, but slow. All truck drivers say that VOLVO and SCANIA are the kings. MAN as well has a strong engine.
bogdan tranca several years ago,,I visited family in PFORZHEIM and driving the AUDUBOHN (Sp) I NEVER SAW ONE MB TRACTOR THERE , DAF, MAN, SCANIA , & others , there must be a reason ! Cheers FROM NJ USA🇩🇪🇺🇸

00:31 Ozzy Osbourne Track!
Someone explain to me the cost savings of:
1)Having the manufacturer assemble your truck, disassemble it, pack it, and ship it out?
2)Then you receive the container, ship it to your factory, have all your employees organize the parts and begin assembly.
It is a whole lot cheaper to ship something in a standardized container than it is to have someone haul it to wherever on a trailer and/or ferry. Combine that with the much lower wages people have in, say, Russia or South Africa, and CKD becomes the cheaper option.
2:54 Reducing the need for employees*
