Saturday mornings aren't the same without the chaotic, childlike energy that Luke & Ellen consistently provide. It reminds me of the fun old days of Disney Club or Live & Kicking, but on a slightly smaller scale.
I'm completely uninterested in anything Pokemon related, yet I quite enjoy these. :)

I saw that issue of Pokemon Magazine (published in the UK by Immediate Media) at Tesco's yesterday and thought "I bet that'll be on Show of the Weekend at some point".
I know you weren't paid to say that, it just seems fair.
And you were right!
I named my first one Thorgi and forgot it's name was Yamper.

This felt more like a classic Show of The Weekend, OX spinning logo Luke and Ellen doing a gag intro, the theme tune, Ellen in fit of giggles at the absurdness of the intro. Content, outro music returns.

Funny thing: you get a Dratini in the original Red/blue by fishing. Also they can learn water moves. Still a Dragon.
Iirc Dratini actually *resists* Electric, too

Luke desperately trying to nudge Ellen in the right direction for "fish and ships", and Ellen just not quite getting there, and then the cut to "Let's shoot Sobble in its soft sad mouth!" is one of the funniest things I've seen for a while. Show of the weekend never fails to bring the childlike glee, and I'm eternally grateful.

I have a story to share about Yamper and how it almost instantly became one of my favorite Pokémon. Fair warning, it’s kind of sad.
Right before Sword and Shield came out my dog got severely injured…so badly that we had to put her down. It was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had to do.
They say dogs are a man’s best friend, and she absolutely was. She helped me get through some really tough times. Some days were so bad I didn’t feel like living anymore, but seeing her smiling face and her cute little tail wagging was enough to keep me from doing something irreversible. So yeah, losing her was a huge blow to me.
It had only been a few days since that terrible, terrible day I lost her when I started playing S&S. But something magical happened in my first random encounter: emerging from the grass was an adorable little female Yamper. (BTW, I went in completely blind. I didn’t know any of the new Pokémon in this game)
Of course I instantly threw out a ball to catch her, and I did on my very first throw and with it at full health. (I would never attack a Yamper to begin with)
But I like to think my baby girl was watching over me when that happened, and she wanted me to use the Yamper on my journey to help heal my broken heart.
Obviously, I named it after my departed best friend and kept her in my party for the entire game. I never used her in battle, because I COULD NOT handle seeing her get hurt.
So yeah, that’s the story of how Yamper became one of my all time favorite Pokémon and how the spirit of my best friend showed up to help me heal. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my dog was also a similar breed to Yamper.
Hopefully I didn’t make anyone cry with that story. Sorry if I did. 🥹

The implication that Wailord eats ships is straight up **terrifying**
It's canonically bigger than most legendaries. it's Pokedex height stat is 47 feet or 14.5M. Is that it's nose to tail length? Or belly to blowhole? O-o' Either way it's enormous!
It's a really confusing joke, too, as the Pokédex states that Wailord's diet consists mainly of Wishiwashi (who has nothing to do with the joke).
Senile Oxtra fan confession. When it became obvious that the word "electric" would cause Ellen to start singing, I assumed the words would be "boogie woogie woogie".
I live for the pokemon magazine content. I like how chaotic it can be.

Ohm my God ; Ellen’s deduction on yamp was shockingly practical. Her logic had no resistance from luke , he was positive in agreements. Glad he wasn’t neutral or negative , and he was quite grounded with the reaction. John was a bit amped up when he heard it though .
Andy would have bolted away from this quiz quick as lighting though.

Technically the magazine is wrong, Yamper is not owned by Chloe but is the family pet and it's trainer is her dad.

In German, "Yamper" is called "Voldi" (Volt + "Hundi" ("doggy" in German)), which has the unintended consequence of connecting it to "Voldemort". :)

We get one sunny day and everyone thinks it's summer already. A nice, cold, rainy spell will soon remind us all that it is still spring time.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Yamper (nicknamed Woodward) initially but he was the only decent electric I had early game so I kept him around. Then he evolved into a Boltund and never left my party after that!

We were doing a Queens Birthday display at my work and due to some delayed shipping we didnt have enough items to fill it, so we started looking for corgi toys - which it turned out we had none, so I suggested using all the yamper toys we had. They almpst did it too.

I wasn't on board with Yamper when it was revealed, can't remember why, but I used one on my sword team and she's an absolute beast (though obviously a Boltund now, not still a Yamper)

To be fair, small & adorable are two of yamper’s defining traits, I don’t think Ellen has boltund’s trademark thousand-yard stare
I always want to pat my boltund and tell her she's doing a great job, because she just looks so nervous and neurotic about everything. Which is about right for a herding dog with nothing to herd, so props to the artists.
i live in Korea where everyone is going nuts over Pokemon cream bread that has a sticker in the packaging. I went to the local shop and a bunch of kids were working the stock delivery driver over to see if he'd brought a resupply. Definitely do have a problem...

Yamper as soon as I heard it I had to make an image for Yamper in my Hamper.
At this point these guys are basically almost PokeTubers. I'm fine with it. Although if they branch out to other types of magazines for diff franchises, that would be fine too. For example Star Wars. I want to know if they have what it takes to join the dark side. Well, I say 'they' but I mean Luke. We all know Ellen is a sith lord. It's like an open secret. And for another one, which of the Duck triplets are they most like? I think Luke is more like Huey. And Animal Crossing content would be good too, they could show us their island for each event. Egg Day was nightmareishly GREAT, for example. Just some ideas.
