It cracks me up when, not for the first time, someone on the couch assumes Charizard is an enormous dragon. When he is actually around 5'7" or 1.7 m. Luke is bigger than Charizard.
He said it so much that to this day my parents are annoyed about it and they always bring it up whenever anyone mentions pokémon lmao Me and my brother watched way too much pokémon as kids
Luke dives through the window of his local Tesco, sliding across the floor to the magazine section. But what is this? The last Pokemon magazine is missing? Frantically looking around, Luke sees a small child walking to the till, the golden glow of Pokemon magazine coming from his hands. Luke leaps over shopping trolleys and dodges flying oranges. He grabs a falling wine bottle on his way to keep himself going. He comes to a stop, pushes the child over, takes the magazine, leaves the cashier person with some cash and triple backflips outta there. Thank you, I'll take my cheque and go.
Ellen's editorial commentary had me in stitches. Was trying to imagine her face when she came across that part during editing. The word 'deadpan' comes to mind 😂
"Is summer the best season?" Luke, who literally recorded a song about how awful summer in London is because everything's bugs and the lingering smell of suncream: "Ooh... That's hard..."
Literally. I know very little about Pokemon, but I recognized Gardevoir immediately, and every reason for that is infuriating and because of the Internet.
Suggested show of the weekend: use the Pokémon sticker sheet from one of these magazines to answer a quiz from a completely different source. Ideal pet quiz, ideal house quiz, whatever
Andy fell into the trap of assuming Charizard is a giant dragon when he's only 5'4" tall. You can tell Luke didn't have the heart to correct him because it pains Luke to this day that he can't ride Charizard in his dreams.
Sure, most people would pick Gardevoir, and the reasons Andy gave were solid... until you read some of its pokedex entries: "To protect its Trainer, it will expend all its psychic power to create a small black hole." Pretty sure this was in an OXtra list video.
Why do you say the black hole thing like it's a downside? That sounds incredible to have around. "Don't mess with me, or my pocket doomsday weapon might go off."
It's actually really wholesome how Luke couldn't decide which season was his favourite, and I enjoyed Ellen's comments in the editing too. You'd think Luke would appreciate being Leafeon! He can synergize with Plant Nutrition Boy!
I had no idea that The Official Pokemon Magazine (published by Immediate Media I'm not being paid to say that it just seems fair) was a Disney Channel Original Movie.
Andy and Luke are always a great combo (again, I say this about all of them, and I means it) and Ellen's edits made me laugh an awful lot. As per! Thanks for all the lols! x
I like their humor, but this specific video feels like it targets my tastes in comedy directly. In terms of laughing out loud, I think this is one of my personal favorites of all their videos
I think Andy should splurge on a life-sized decoy of himself to replace his presence whenever Luke comes over to do “normal adult things.” Like an inflatable or a scarecrow with his clothes and face taped on it.
I love that Luke's early instinct was "oh no, it's Andy! We're doing normal adult things!" and now Andy's sitting on the couch with Luke, playing with stickers. The evolution--maybe I should say eeveelution--is delightful.
If you’d given me 1000 guesses I never would have predicted that the line “It looks like my pancreas has just fallen out!” would be said during a discussion of Pokémon Magazine. Stay weird, Oxtra :)
When Andy said " You get to eat this shellos slime", then Luke mentioned it was vacuum sealed I legit thought the slime was edible. I don't know how I've lived this long.
man I thought that my chemistry exams would be my biggest academic hurdle this year but nope "what is ash's last name: ketchum or ketchup" is infinitely harder
There was an episode in the older series where he used ketchup as his last name. It was the episode where two unofficial gyms were trying to become the official gym of a town and he used ketchup as his last name to go undercover in them.
This made my day even though my favorite Eeveelution Leafeon was considered the worst. Feel better soon Ellen. Ur comments are hilarious as always but doesn't quite feel the same as when ur on the couch with Luke
This one nearly destroyed me. The lore behind Ash Ketchup, the defacing of the quiz with vulgarity, and Andy just being Andy... I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe 😂
andy: he's not going around saying 'i'm ash from bark town or whatever' me: oh, dear sweet, innocent andy. he says 'i'm ash from pallet town soooooo often XD'
"... this pink goo is all that is left of Ash's dad after he fell into the machine" family entertainment at its finest... XDDD it is why I love you lot!
I love all the Oxbox/Oxtra family (oxfam? No wait that’s taken) but their is a special place in my heart for Luke/Andy. It reminds me of my being the sarcastic “too cool for this” uncle when my nieces and nephews were younger :)
Andy is being the kind of student where the professor grading his exam is desperately trying to find places to take points away, but can't because Andy has intentionally done so poorly.
I remember going to see the first Pokemon movie Mewtwo strikes back as a kid, everyone who was in attendance that day got a rare shiny Mew card to use in the trading card game.
I've been feeling really run down with a fever the past few days but Luke saying "It's like a ditto died" genuinely made me laugh and cheered me up. Thank you for your amazing content.
Luke is single handedly keeping this publishing company in business.
If they were clever they would let him do a segment in an issue!
@@MrChapmanification If they were clever, they would hire you for bringing good ideas to the table. Beause that was a damn good idea
@@olesams I’ll take an internship with no benefits please!
At this point, I’m pretty sure Luke is the CEO of Immediate Media and the publisher of Pokémon magazine
I love to like this comment but it’s at 420 ❤️ 💕
"It's like a Ditto died!" And that is the point where I, too, perished of uncontrollable laughter.
"it looks like my pancreas fell out" finished me
It cracks me up when, not for the first time, someone on the couch assumes Charizard is an enormous dragon. When he is actually around 5'7" or 1.7 m. Luke is bigger than Charizard.
But then how does Luke ride Charizard in his dreams?
Yeah, peeps don't mention that in proximity of Luke. lol
We will never forget…
To be fair, Luke is HUGE.
Taller, but not bigger. Charizard is wider than Luke, for sure.
Andy saying Ash doesn't constantly say where he's from as if Ash isn't ALWAYS declaring he's from Pallet Town 😂
He said it so much that to this day my parents are annoyed about it and they always bring it up whenever anyone mentions pokémon lmao
Me and my brother watched way too much pokémon as kids
Seriously his surname might as well be "Ketchum from pallet town"
That's why Ellen didn't want to do it. The supercut would have been longer than the video itself.
@@Agent719 "Ash says "I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town" (10 hours)"
You mean you don't always declare where you're from?
“Oh no this can’t be what children like!!” Luke having the sudden realization that he is a dad and that will probably be in his home one day
Luke and Andy are so good. Laughed the whole way through this. I'm loving their podcast as well. Ellen's editorial remarks were the icing on the cake.
Same. I almost never laugh out loud, but this morning I laughed so much I scared my cat. Andy's sense of humor is so low-key that it sneaks up on you.
I didn't know about the podcast, thanks for the heads up it's hilarious!
@@laras678 it's so deadpan. He and Luke bounce off each other so well.
Came here to say the exact same thing! Poor Leafeon. So much shade.
I imagine Luke down the newsagents just sprinting into the shop and going: "WHERE IS THE POKEMON MAGAZINE"
the employees hear him bounding down the pavement and frantically search to find it in time
"WE'RE NOT SPONSORED, IT ONLY SEEMS FAIR"
In fairness this is the only context in which I ever see Pokemon Magazine, so they have no excuse
Pushing small children out of the way
Luke dives through the window of his local Tesco, sliding across the floor to the magazine section. But what is this? The last Pokemon magazine is missing? "you defaced the answer box" had me absolutely dead xD
I always love how Andy comes into all these quizzes with the energy of an uncooperative five year old.
I would say a bored teenager who's being forced against their will to entertain a small child XD
Luke and Andy has the energy of cool uncles making fun of their nephew's cartoons but secretly enjoys them too 🤣
I like how the Lavender Town music quietly starts playing while talking about the murder of Ash’s father
Everyone knows the mysterious disappearance of Ash's father was actually orchestrated by a jealous Mr Mime
Of course, it's where Ash was born (according to Andy).
Loving the way Andy threw the slime container away.
Even when she's ill, Ellen's hilarious.
H-ill-arious, you mean.

No video has really epitomised the phrase "I am a normal adult man who does adult things" more than this episode
"Is summer the best season?"
Luke, who literally recorded a song about how awful summer in London is because everything's bugs and the lingering smell of suncream: "Ooh... That's hard..."
When Luke was googling Guardevoir I got legit scared of what he might find
Thank god he googled the description and not the name. Might've ended VERY differently
LOL I was like "wonder if Andy knows he picked the most rule 34 Pokemon in the last 5 years or so"
Literally. I know very little about Pokemon, but I recognized Gardevoir immediately, and every reason for that is infuriating and because of the Internet.
Luke's eyebrow raise when Andy said "enormous fire-breathing dragon" LOL
I appreciate how well Andy and Luke improvise off each other. It's like they went to comedy school together or something.
Suggested show of the weekend: use the Pokémon sticker sheet from one of these magazines to answer a quiz from a completely different source. Ideal pet quiz, ideal house quiz, whatever
If you only knew one of them was a father and one of them wasn't, you'd get it wrong 100 times out of 100.
Gonna be entirely honest: today began WITHOUT any expectation that it was going to feature Luke's non-newtonian pancreas.
...Then again, I also started my day without expecting to laugh until I nearly choked or cried.
It's nice to be surprised sometimes.
"Luke's Non-Newtonian Pancreas" What a great name for a band. Prog-rock, obviously...
Luke: *struggles to open Shellos Slime*
Me: “Poor guy, he even has the strength of Leafeon.”
"The evelution quiz takes no prisons" is the most eerie description of a pokémon magazine quiz I've hear.
I love how every combination of the OX crew has such different energy.
James has been traveling with Ash for decades I call Shenanigans!
Their reaction to the slime was hilarious, along with how Andy threw the container away. Just normal adult things, you know.
Anyone else suck in their breath when Luke started Googling to find out what Pokémon Gardevoir was?
I was worried.
Good thing they didn’t dig too deep
I was concerned that was the moment he went from normal adult man to.... you know...
"Green. Lady. Pokemon"
Yup i was expectimg a "oh no we can't show that"
All the thoughts in my head were “safesearch don’t fail me now!” 🥴
"This can't be what children like!", said Luke as he continued playing with the slime.
Andy fell into the trap of assuming Charizard is a giant dragon when he's only 5'4" tall. You can tell Luke didn't have the heart to correct him because it pains Luke to this day that he can't ride Charizard in his dreams.
Andy blankly going "reddit is going to have a field day" made me laugh more than I am willing to admit
Sure, most people would pick Gardevoir, and the reasons Andy gave were solid... until you read some of its pokedex entries: "To protect its Trainer, it will expend all its psychic power to create a small black hole."
Pretty sure this was in an OXtra list video.
It WAS
There's also the other *not so wholesome* reason a lot of folks would pick it if you're well informed about the internet.
Why do you say the black hole thing like it's a downside? That sounds incredible to have around. "Don't mess with me, or my pocket doomsday weapon might go off."
These Pokemon magazine episodes are genuinely some of my favourite SotW. Laughing the whole way through.
Luke inhaling like a tradesperson about to tell you that it is going to cost you, when he could not decide if he liked summer, was pretty funny
It's actually really wholesome how Luke couldn't decide which season was his favourite, and I enjoyed Ellen's comments in the editing too.
You'd think Luke would appreciate being Leafeon! He can synergize with Plant Nutrition Boy!
"it's like a Ditto died"
Only on Oxtra would you hear such a thing 😂
I had no idea that The Official Pokemon Magazine (published by Immediate Media I'm not being paid to say that it just seems fair) was a Disney Channel Original Movie.
First the fleshy hand. Now the fleshy lump. Luke's slowly creating the Fleshy Cinematic Universe
Andy and Luke are always a great combo (again, I say this about all of them, and I means it) and Ellen's edits made me laugh an awful lot. As per! Thanks for all the lols! x

I think Andy should splurge on a life-sized decoy of himself to replace his presence whenever Luke comes over to do “normal adult things.” Like an inflatable or a scarecrow with his clothes and face taped on it.
Remember when Forza Horizon 4 came out? Andy needs to get Mike in on creating a most lifelike decoy.
Add in a speaker that repeats "You're pretty good" and "Kept you waiting, huh?" and Luke will be fooled every time.
The sarcastic energy of Andy and Luke together is amazing.
"Oh, Andy on SOTW!"
"Wait, is that a... pokèmon magazine episode?"
These are the episodes dreams are made of!
I love that Luke's early instinct was "oh no, it's Andy! We're doing normal adult things!" and now Andy's sitting on the couch with Luke, playing with stickers. The evolution--maybe I should say eeveelution--is delightful.
Ellen being funny even when she's not on camera
There’s a reason Gardevoir was found so easily, just don’t da an image search with that name, you’ll find many cursed things!
The sass levels in Ellen's editing this video were incredible 😂
She's probably angy that she can't do the eeveelution quiz herself.
If you’d given me 1000 guesses I never would have predicted that the line “It looks like my pancreas has just fallen out!” would be said during a discussion of Pokémon Magazine. Stay weird, Oxtra :)
When Andy said " You get to eat this shellos slime", then Luke mentioned it was vacuum sealed

Very much agreed with Ellen, I will not be having any Eeveelution slander here! None of them are bad.
man I thought that my chemistry exams would be my biggest academic hurdle this year but nope "what is ash's last name: ketchum or ketchup" is infinitely harder
Ellen's Editorial Extras are great, more please
I loved the simple "no" from editing Ellen, told me all I need to know in just one word
Andy chose violence with his sylveon slander
Great work with the editing Ellen, the asides and zoom during Luke's deliberations cracked me up!
There was an episode in the older series where he used ketchup as his last name. It was the episode where two unofficial gyms were trying to become the official gym of a town and he used ketchup as his last name to go undercover in them.
Slightly tempted to get this magazine because there are stickers. As an "adult" there are nowhere near as many random sticker encounters as I'd like 🥺
I want the spooky ghost type (which btw is a dark type 😂)
Eevielution quiz: no. You're the adorable and wholesome fairy, tough luck.
Every time I see the name Ash Ketchum I can’t help but think “that sounds like a terrible condiment”
Is Ash also one of those people who puts ketchup on everything? "Gotta ketchup all"
The rest of the crew really need to get back from holiday / illness / wherever. These two are going crazy with just each other for company 😂😂
"For the content" - Everything after that sentence was pure comedy gold!
It's actually quite a mystery, where is Ash's father. "Fell into the ketchup machine" makes as much sense as anything else.
Andy would pick Gardevoir like "she seems low-key". Not remembering the OXtra video about how she makes black holes if her trainer is threatened
Tbf pikachu did once get voiced by Ryan Reynolds, so I choose to believe everything pikachu says is R rated
Andy + Luke is always a magical combo

Ellen's signature editing zooms, yay!
Somehow I can hear Ellen giggling to herself when she's editing.
9:17 When Andy says Charizard is an enormous dragon... Luke's face says "you'd like to think that wouldn't you?"
Probably one of the best editing in a SOTW episode ever.

Andy is being the kind of student where the professor grading his exam is desperately trying to find places to take points away, but can't because Andy has intentionally done so poorly.
Show of the Weekend: Gotta Ketchum all?
2:57 He does in fact, go around saying 'Hello, i'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town.'
I have a couple friends that would probably refuse to watch this show ever again if they heard the shade thrown at Sylveon there XD
Watching this, enjoying Andy trying to derail everything as usual and when he said "after this ad break" I got a damn UA-cam ad.
What an ad break :D Love it, brilliant editing Ellen :D. This was a good laugh :D

Good old Pokemon magazine nothing beats that
9:17 If we've learnt anything from these quizzes, it's that Charizard is NOT an enormous fire-breathing dragon. Much to Luke's dismay.
"Damn! Look at that idiot, Syl--" that's not what I wanted Andy to say 😆
