    oddly enough the color pink annoys me and when i am in an all pink room i get anxious and often times i get angry. light blue on the other hand calms me down and makes me happy.

    Number 6 is completely wrong, in England, Manchester, where I'm from, the lights are only triggered if the button is pressed, and I'm guessing that is the same for other areas around England.

      +iCannoNz Completely agree it's too much of a generalisation as it totally depends on what type of lights have been fitted and what their purpose is. Sometimes it might seem to do nothing but actually will extend a red light on one part of a large junction to allow people to cross without chancing it and running across. Sometimes it will turn the lights red immediately. And sometimes it does actually do nothing because the bloody button is broken :oD

    • @iCannoNz98

      cwwhg Yeah I get that. But I'm just saying that in my area every button triggers the lights, where I live we don't need the automated lights so literally every single set ahas a button, and they only work if the button is pressed. but I understand about the different types of lights for different situations bit

      @GamerKnight = u r bagging someone out for writing "u" instead of "you" and say they sound like a kid. I write "u" ALOT in my comments, and I definatly are not a kid. in ur second response, what does "asure" mean? and in ur last response, instead of writing "please" u write "plz" twice. also, "saying" only has 1 "g". b4 u bag out other people, make sure u aren't calling the kettle black.

    The elevator "open" button actually serves a very useful purpose. Rather than holding a hand in front of the sensors to keep the door open, you can hold the button. This helps if a slow-moving disabled person is approaching an elevator or if you're loading the elevator with multiple trips of furniture or groceries. The door won't close and move on so you don't have to resummon it.

      Yes. Play the classical music instead. It works at least as well, and doesn't get people mad.
      As far as a test of high-frequency hearing, until a few years ago, there was one just about everywhere, the sound of the "flyback transformer" in a CRT-based television set. If you could hear that a TV was on, even with the volume turned all the way down, your high-frequency hearing was pretty good. Today's LCD TVs don't make that noise, which is probably just as well.

    • @bcn1gh7h4wk
      @bcn1gh7h4wk 7 років тому +12

      same.
      I can still hear the TV noise.
      one time, I heard a high-pitched noise coming from somewhere around me, which I couldn't place.
      I cleared all of my electronics, but it wasn't something in my house, it was coming from outside.
      I went out, followed the noise, and tracked it to the warehouse behind my house.
      I thought "meh... maybe some motion sensor malfunctioning"
      sure enough, not a minute later, the police showed up.
      motion alarm, inside a warehouse, behind my back wall, with me inside the house.
      now THAT is hearing.

      If you play a loud noise depending where you live it could be classed as noise pollution or causing a public disturbance. I would say these fit into that illegal category. They could also effect various other species as well which I am very much against. They are not cool.

    • @75egcg
      @75egcg 7 років тому

      BadRep there's a small suburb. Well think more of an inner city setting of minorities and refugee/immigrant ghetto but outside the main city...
      Anyway, about 15 years ago they did away with a kinda dangerous traffic intersection right in the main square that gets f-ing heavy with traffic and retrofitted it with the most screwed up rotary in existence.
      It's kind of an oblong square with confusing entrance points, and some exit points that go into parking lots that look like the Main Street bc that's what they were before the change. And it's slanted on a big dumb hill
      Well about 10 years ago there used to be a random stoplight right in the middle of it for pedestrians that would flip to red faster than a normal traffic light if it even detected a person near the crosswalk, which ran straight through the rotary. It was really annoying.
      My first time ever being pulled over was bc I ran that red. Also, I was trying to navigate this newfangled weird rotary that was unlike any I've ever seen before behind the wheel of damn tractor trailer. I was about 19 or so and worked for a small time distributor. I still drive truck to this day, although a pulp mill convinced me to work for them and now I'm not and regretting it.
      Sorry for the long ass comment with random subjects all over the place.

    • @ArkadyVasiliev
      @ArkadyVasiliev 7 років тому +1

      BadRep it depends on the crossing type. A crossing that is placed across a carriage way not at a junction will be button activated since the lights never need to change other than to let people cross. However at for example a four way junction eventually one set of lights will have to turn red and thus allowing people to cross when it does so and doesn't actually require a button

    • @jaystarr6571
      @jaystarr6571 7 років тому +1

      The lights here don't change any faster but they do hold green longer to give you more time to cross.

    The 'mosquito' sound pisses me off because I'll be 32 in four months and I can still hear that sound more sharply than most younger people, it seems. An alleyway I have to frequently pass through has the damn noise playing and I'd be shocked if my ears ever cease to be able to hear it loud and clear.
    I additionally don't like the fact that an adult who can't hear it has decided it's suitable to subject other sets of ears to. Children have to use this alleyway every day and the noise isn't only painful* when exposed to it for minutes on end - it's immediately painful thus meaning everyone gets the brunt of it even if they're not loitering.
    It's a shitty way to treat children and young people, so no wonder it's popular.
    _*there's no accurate word in our language - it's not pain but 'discomfort' is too soft_

      @eveningdim7167 7 років тому +3

      RiC David Since you're 32 and since children are actually required to use the alley, I think you have a solid case for a complaint on your hands. Is it privately owned or government owned? You could lodge a complaint, and maybe even take it to court if you have to.

  • @JohnnyX50
    @JohnnyX50 6 років тому +3

    The pedestrian button may be a placebo in some places somewhere, however I was involved in traffic light control in my late teens and the code was in PLC logic. The button press was coded to behave as though traffic in one junction was waiting at a red light, thus triggering an early timer for changing the set and adding extra time for crossing at the junction the button was pressed at. It worked that way because one junction may be a lot quieter than the other, thus resulting in a long wait to cross the road if you had no way to shorten that time. Traffic lights, unless phasing is altered remotely by the traffic division of the council, will favour the busy junction, constantly trying to keep busy traffic flowing. They are quite sophisticated in terms of programming.

    It's actually illegal for elevator door close and open buttons to be fake. The open button tends to do the same as the IR door blockage sensor in the door and stop the door from closing, while the close button does nothing. So why is it illegal for a button that does nothing to be fake, you may wonder. Well, the functions named only apply to normal operations! In firefighter operations, the door MUST be opened and closed manually by (you guessed it) the open and close buttons! When the elevator is in that mode, there is literally no other way!

    Here in Florida the walk signal buttons do actually work. If you don't press one the signal light will NEVER turn on. But drivers completely ignore them and will run you down even if the signal is activated and you are in the cross walk. The cross walk nearest my home has had three fatal hit and run murders in the last three years all due to drivers believing they had a legal obligation to summarily execute anyone caught in a crosswalk. Only two have been caught and the third is still at large. They should install spikes that come up out of the pavement when the walk signal is activated. They should rise up around 18 inches so they don't just pop tires but destroy engines, exhausts and transmissions. If your car is damaged as a result it's an automatic suspension of license and a year in jail since the only way that could happen is if you broke the law. I'm sick of my neighborhood being the playing field for a giant game of "let's kill all pedestrians."

    • @AdrianMartinez-sl5vb

    Pedestrian crossings in London do NOT have placebo buttons. At pedestrian crossings in New York, there doesn't necessarily have to be a guarantee that all traffic crossing your path while it is green for pedestrians is breaking the law. There is in London. Crossings have a green light for pedestrians parallel to the traffic being allowed through. In London, crossings typically have a phase for pedestrians. If no-one pushes the button, they will skip the pedestrian phase. The only reason why it looks like it is a placebo is because if you don't push the button, the chances are that someone else will, except late at night. There is no advantage to the crossing going green for pedestrians if no-one has pushed the button.
    British lift door close buttons are generally not placebos, but American ones are required to not work for 5 seconds.
    We used to have placebo buttons on our trams in London, but they removed them recently.

    Actually, in the town that I live if you don't push the button the light crossing never changes. While the close door button in an elevator may be bullshit (I have no knowledge either way) the open button is absolutely not it's how you hold the door when you need it open for longer then the timer keeps it open or if you need it to open back up if it starts closing.

    • @thatguy6225
      @thatguy6225 7 років тому +3

      Yeah, here, crosswalk buttons may or may not make the light change faster (depending on the button), but they do change the amount of time that is given when it does change, to allow pedestrians to cross busy streets where they would give cars less time. I've had the sensor loops in the street not pick up that my motorcycle was above them. I didn't want to get a ticket in Beverly Hills, so I got off the bike and walked over to press the button.

    Seafoam/pale green is far more calming. Most greens are calming to most people. Except electric lime 'dayglow' green or the chromakey 'green screen' color in photo shoots. I get a romping headache from them in a very small amount of time too. Most 'dayglow' colors hit me just like this.

    Elevator "Close door" buttons are usually superfluous but not fake. The door closes automatically, usually 3 seconds after nothing is sensed by the infrared beam. Some do work. If the beam is set for 7 seconds and you press the "Close door" button immediately after the last person enters or leaves, the door will close immediately. You may wonder why the beam has a delay. It's to allow for elderly or other slow folks to have a chance to get in or out. A multi-level retirement residence would have a longer delay set for the automatic closing.

    • @rfvtgbzhn
      @rfvtgbzhn 6 років тому

      I think the delay of these buttons is useless. At least in my country no one presses the close button if there is still someone who wants to enter the elevator. Many people even press the open button in this case.

    4:45 elevator buttons arent placebo. The door close button works, just not in a way the public usually needs to use it, or knows. I used it in my old job. Needed to get to the top floor without stopping at other floors inbetween. Hold the floor number+the door close button until you arrive. It will skip the elevator lobbies inbetween even if they have pushed the call button. The computer will skip the trigger and keep going to the floor requested. Otherwise, it might be faster taking the stairs to get to a top floor emergency. This is easier to use than it can be for someone to find another person with an elevator override key. I never even KNEW who had those keys except the FD. All the nurses, docs, and guards knew this override because when I worked there. There was no separate elevator for doctors and emergencies. We used that function instead, and guests got to learn something new everytime we did it. They did eventually designate one elevator as medical/emergency use only though. The function still exists none the less.
    The button will not simply close the doors just because you pushed it though, unless it isn't up to code. This seems to be causing all these informative posts/vids to spread false info. Person in charge says the function doesn't work ever since the 90s and handicap laws. Made it so you can't close the doors sooner than programmed, so the handicapped can't be cut off. But this is a button with MULTIPLE functions. That's why they still exist in some elevators. Elevators without this function, typically don't have the button available at all. I am sure there is still 1 or 2 other shortcuts it is used for as well that most don't know about. If there are a lot of floors, I see this button and I still use it lol.

    I noticed that in China, EVERY "Close door" button gets pressed at every floor level. This is a 100% habit for Chinese. I used to put my finger up one inch from the button and tell the other folks that I could send a magic signal to the button without actually touching it. The door would close at 3 seconds by the infrared sensor, not the button. This usually got a laugh.

    The buttons actually do work. they act like the magnetic detection strips under the car Lanes. sometimes an intersection mostly gets traffic in one way, so unless it's pushed, it won't switch. other places have a special sequence for pedestrians only that can only be activated by the button. The problem is people think the button is supposed to instantly work, when really it just puts it in the next cycle

    The traffic button tells the lights that people want to cross, if you don't press the button you wont get the walk sign. The light will change for a few seconds so the other cars can go, but then will turn back not letting anyone cross. If you press the button you get the walk sign.
    If you are at a cross walk and the light turns but you don't get the walk sign its because you didn't press the button. At least that how it works where I live, never been to New York.

    The hold door buttons on elevators do work, and you are supposed to use them instead of holding the door itself. Holding the door breaks elevators leading to people being stuck in the elevator, it happened to my boss and I while moving equipment for a hotel gig.

      @@Skylark_102 If your'e gay your'e gay. If your'e straight your'e straight. It's not like support will change that. One of the biggest reasons that there is so much is because It's been ostracized for thousands of years and is now accepted. It's celebratory. It's not like all this support will somehow turn straight people gay. Seriously, that's ridiculous.

I think you need to realize you are part of a whole, and be more humble. I choose to never hate anyone, to be a friend to all unless proven otherwise.
