Which is your favorite place to boondock? Let us know! 👇👇👇
Harvest Hosts! We loved Mac's Creek in Lexington, NE.
Bass pro for us!
Just now had the chance to see this video and wanted to let you know, in case you don't, that there is an app that is "rest stops". It shows all of the rest stops throughout the US so you'll know in the future if you need to pull over.
That's amazing! I never even thought of looking for an app. Thank you so much!
The other lesson I recently learned is that if you have a Grand Design with a slide topper and it’s been raining all night, do not stand to near to the slide when it’s retracting. Unless, of course you enjoy surprise cold showers !
Hahaha oh no! Guessing you learned the hard way on that one? 😆 that definitely sounds like something we would do if we had slide toppers 🤣
To eliminate that refrigerator door fear, get some tension rods. We never have a problem with that fear anymore.
Just found your channel and truly enjoying the content!!!
Welcome aboard! We're happy to have you!
Another excellent video. Love you both so much! Have fun and stay safe!
Thank you 🥰 we love you too!!
Do you usually leave the trailer hitched to the truck when you stay overnight?
If we're just staying one night for a pit stop or what we call a "throwaway stay" then we'll stay hitched up for simplicity 😁
@@lifererouted ah ok. Thanks!
No problem!
Fun video. Thanks
Thanks so much!
Nice shoe shimmy Mike LMAO!!! If I had to choose, I would likely choose BOTH! You two really do crack me up...y'all are dang soulmates for sure!!! ;-)
Hahahaha I've been working on my shimmy! 🤣🤣🤣 Awe thank you! But the truth is, we drive each other crazy 🤪🤪
@@lifererouted a good marriage is all about the crazy...otherwise it just doesn't work!!!! xoxo Sugar & Michelle
True!! ❤❤❤
When traveled to Florida from NJ last year. Stayed a few truck stops - didn't try Cracker Barrel or Bass Pro Shops. Maybe next time.
We've only stayed at a truck stop once, in the middle of nowhere Nevada! It was pretty crowded/loud but was still handy for the night. Thanks friends!
If we had to choose Cracker Barrel just because breakfast in the morning. But great video. We love them both.
Getting food is definitely a plus - we've even got it to go and eaten it in the camper in the parking lot before 😆 thanks so much friends!
Great video! FYI for others, the Bass Pro in Kodak, TN no longer allows overnight parking. 😦 The Walmart in Newport about 30 minutes east on 40 is a good alternative.
Oh no! Good to know, Brandie!
I just discovered your channel from watching enjoythejourney. After watching a few minutes I subscribed! Great content and editing!
Thank you so much, that means so much to us! We're happy to have you along for the adventure 😁
If you're ever in Memphis you should try boondocking at the Bass Pro Shop there. It's the huge pyramid right on the river! Kind of cool...
That sounds so neat! We'll definitely have to add it to the list if we make it to Memphis, thank you!
We usually opt for Bass Cracker.
Hahaha haven't run across one of those yet! This stop was a kind of combo though, which was nice 😂
We prefer Cracker Barrel, since we often get both dinner and breakfast along with free parking. The Bass Pro Shops / Cabella's often have a huge RV/Semi parking lot. The problem is that it's often full of semi's, and they come and go all night, and are noisy.
The dinner and breakfast are a huge plus to us too! True about the semis and noise often, but this one was thankfully pretty quiet 🙌
Newbie question: when you stay at either, do you go in and ask management first?
Good question! We always call ahead and ask. The only time we've got a "no" is when the Bass Pro was part of a shopping mall - they couldn't legally tell us yes. We were glad we called, better than getting kicked out in the middle of the night!
Have you ever experienced them being full? Or being turned away?
Good questions! We haven't been to one that's full yet, but we have been turned away. We always call ahead of time to ask if overnight parking is allowed, and it has happened that one Bass Pro said it was not allowed. It was part of a mall, so they said they didn't technically have rights to the parking lot - we were glad we'd called ahead 😊
Haha we are a Chacos family! I was asked to officiate a wedding too - and I has a similar reaction 🤣. I’m with you on rest areas haha we actually have pee cups for the boys because that’s happened to us too many times lol. I don’t know why but I’m so nervous about boondocking. Do you call before you get there to get permission? 💕❤️
We love our chacos! Yes! Honestly I would do the same if we had kids - sometimes I worry Mike needs one too 😅 that's totally understandable about being nervous, it gets more comfortable with time. We ALWAYS call ahead, it's only happened once where they said they didn't allow overnight parking (it was in a mall so had a shared parking lot) but we also get more info as far as where they prefer us to park, any recommendations in the area, etc 🥰
Hey! Welcome to my home town! What did you think of the reverse diamond interchange?
Oh goodness.....if you mean the crazy lane changes on the exit, Mike may have had a 3 minute rant that we had to cut out of the video 😂😂😂
@@lifererouted that would be the one. Its about to get more crazy as they are building the company's largest bucee's at our quiet little exit.
9:21 I did not know this either. Apparently, the name originated kinda like Kleenex, but instead of the product name becoming the accepted name, it is the business name.
It makes me feel better that other people didn't know either! He's always so full of random facts 😅 Mike said he didn't know that about the brand name though!
So when boondocking what source for electric do you have?
As of right now, we have 2 100AH batteries that run our 12V stuff and a small solar generator from Bluetti
Good stuff as always.....but what happened to the goat?😂
Hmmmm good question....he may be making an appearance soon 😂
We are really struggling with that large kitchen drawer. It gets stuck half way out, then you have to pull it REALLY hard. Have you had issues? I'm wondering if the metal sliders are bad?
Oh no! We have issues with our bathroom drawer - it doesn't get completely stuck but does seem to rub when it gets about halfway out. I would wonder if the sliders are bad if it is that hard to pull out. Maybe take it completely off the sliders (there are release latches at the back that are kind of tricky to release) and see if there's anything visibly wrong with them? Let us know!
Do you typically keep your truck connected when camping at theses places
Yes, normally. But we have disconnected to go run errands!
