BLESS YOUR HEART JACK! :D Since you enjoyed this programme, I humbly invite you to check out my website projectwasabi.com - where all of my other audio dramas are all in one place. Other Columbo, Law & Order, Sherlock Holmes, Dragnet, etc. :D Cheers!
Whoever has compiled these stories from the tv series, has certainly done a fabulous job. What a joy when only up to listening-reclining not watching/sitting up. Having watched most of the series in years gone by, these is a pure treat.
Carlene - BLESS your heart!! :) Thank you so much. I humbly invite you to visit me at projectwasabi.com - As an extra added BONUS - if you visit my website - there's at least ONE drama (maybe more) which are NOT posted here on UA-cam. Thanks again!
In addition to watching Columbo (UK Freeview, 5USA, Channel 21) normally broadcast at weekends........ I can listen to these beautifully crafted/ scripted stories while I work Pure Joy - Thanks!!
What a gracious comment. Thank you, Ramo! If you'd like to hear more - i humbly invite you to visit us online at ProjectWasabi.com . Stay Healthy! / ¡Salud!
No offense at all, but these are so great for insomnia! I have listened to each one and your vocal really enhance these!! I have problems sleeping and now that I have found your terrific videos, I can sleep!! Thank YOU!!! You are absolutely great!! I enjoy them immensely!!
Blessings Starfish! I'm grateful for your comments. No offense taken - my wife and I always listen to audio drama as we fall asleep - very often - my own stuff! :-) I'm very happy to know you enjoy my works, and I'm also very happy you're sleeping better. Heads-Up! Recently NBC Universal has been blocking my stuff from UA-cam. When this happens, I invite you to visit my webpage projectwasabi.com THanks again, Amigo! Sweet Dreams. ;-)
What a gracious comment. Thank you Stewart! :) if all goes well, our next programme should premiere Christmas Day 2022. In the meantime, we humbly invite you to visit us on the web / ProjectWasabi.com where you'll find more content (not all available here on YT). Thanks again for your kind words. Cheers! - B
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your audio drama's, the attention to detail, your sense of humour and your wonderful voice. I would happily listen to every episode, actually better than watching them...how can that be? thank you
What a coincidence Julie ! I can't tell YOU how much I genuinely appreciate your good words. I hope you'll click on "read more" . . . Blocked by NBC Universal - my last three audio dramas never made it to UA-cam. The Good News is they *_are available_* at my website --> projectwasabi.com Truly! The thought there are folks like you out there, who enjoy hearing audio dramas as much as I.... BLESSINGS FRIEND, Happy Holidays to you! - B
I wanted to throw on some Columbo in the background while I was at work, and I stumbled across this. Next thing I knew it was time to clock out! I am a big fan of listening to things and trying to picture them in my mind, rather than just seeing them. This is really well done, you really help paint a clear picture of what's happening. Hope you do more Columbo in the future!
YAYYYY NOVA!! That's exactly how my favourite audio dramas hit me!! A great way to lose time. Thank you so much for your good words; made me smile. I humbly invite you to visit my website - projectwasabi.com - where i sort of "corral" my audio dramas all under one roof! :-) Blessings!
Hi agai Nova! Since it's not on UA-cam - I humbly invite you to sample my newest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (not available here on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
Hi again Pilot! Since it's not on UA-cam - I humbly invite you to sample my newest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
HEY!! Thank you Mona!! If all goes well, our next programme is due out Christmas 2021. In the meantime, if you'd like to hear more of our audio dramas - we humbly invite you to visit our website (projectwasabi.com), where you'll find other shows, not available here on UA-cam! Completely FREE of course, and no registering, logins or passwords to slow you down. :) ProjectWasabi.com Cheers! :)
I just stumbled across your audio dramas! I have always loved Columbo and this is a great way to listen to them when watching them is not an option! Keep up the good work!! Hoping you eventually are able to do them all!
THANKS DARTH! :) Yeah - like many fans - I'll always have a special place in my heart for COLUMBO. I think the next one I do will be a Columbo. In the meantime, I'm releasing a new "LAW & ORDER" this Superbowl Sunday (4 Feb 2018). Hope you'll check it out. :-)
As a matter of fact, YOU my friend (the sight-impaired community) are the "model" that guides my efforts. I always think "what would a blind person need to know about this particular scene?" Also - as the narrator, I am the "eyes" of the audience. Thank you again Dringsong.
my latest audio drama is not (yet) available on UA-cam, but it currently hosted on "soundcloud". Easiest route is this subdomain renunciation.projectwasabi.com :)
I am also sight-impaired. One of my issues is chronic eye fatigue, so when I don't 'need to use my eyes', I take off my glasses, stretch out and rest them.
Happy Holidays Amigo! Thought you'd like to know - the next Columbo - "DEATH LENDS A HAND" premieres THANKSGIVING DAY (22 November 2018)! It may or may not be here on UA-cam. But either way - you can hear it at DLH.projectwasabi.com Happy Thanksgiving! :-)
Brian! I love the introductions referencing the year. It's great to remember back to the early seventies but it's even cooler when you compare it to things today, before cell phones, before the Internet! Love it! And thanks for all of your hard work.
1. THANK YOU so much Kit. Sorry I only just now / here noticed your good words. 2. I fully agree with you about referencing the year. And of course - people under the age of 30 might need to be told these things didn't exist back then (sometimes I forget, myself!) 3. Hot off the Press! I humbly invite you to sample my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (not available here on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
You're extremely gracious Darrin! I'm honoured, thanks. Actually - "the two Stevens" was one of the deciding factors when I chose THIS Columbo. I think my NEXT Columbo will be one of the Robert Culp episodes (there were (I think) three "Culp Episodes"). OH! I hope you'll check out my LATEST audio drama. Law & Order Season 2, Episode 9. Regrettably UA-cam refused to let me upload "RENUNCIATION" - so Instead, I've used my own subdomain instead. I humbly invite you to visit RENUNCIATION.projectwasabi.com Thank you again Darrin. Blessings, amigo! :)
Happy Holidays Darrin! Thought you'd like to know - the next Columbo - "DEATH LENDS A HAND" premieres THANKSGIVING DAY MORNING (22 November 2018)! It may or may not be here on UA-cam. But either way (premiering THANKSGIVING) - you can hear it at DLH.projectwasabi.com Happy Thanksgiving! :-)
Hola luapworrag! My latest audio drama (Law & Order UK / "DEFENCE") is blocked here on UA-cam, but you can hear it at my website defence.projectwasabi.com . Cheers!
FROM CANADA!! I feel so 'globalist'. Thanks Divot, for the good words. You just made my day. By the way - i only recently learned the meaning of _"divot"_ while watching some True Crime show on ID. Great word! Finally - if you enjoyed this programme, i humbly invite you to visit us online at projectwasabi.com - where you'll find more such audio dramas (true-crime documentaries as well) based on Columbo, Law & Order, Dragnet and others. A few of which are not found here on UA-cam, but only at projectwasabi.com If all goes well - the next audio drama _(another Columbo)_ premieres this Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28, 2024). Thanks again, for the great start to my morning. Blessings! - BN
DUDE! Thanks for the mention man! If all goes well - our next story should drop on Independence Day / 4th of July 2022. In the meantime - we hope you'll come visit us on the web, where more such audio dramas can be found.
Another grrreat job well done, dear Brian Newberry!!! How well I remember the days of radio before TV, and these audio dramas of Columbo are my favorites!!! Since my eyesight is gradually failing, what a joy it is to be able to just LISTEN!!!
Thanks for the good words, man! If all goes well - i invite you to check back this May Day (May 1st 2020) - for the *_North Hollywood Shootout 1997._* "Thanks for listening & we'll talk to you soon!" :)
Not sure if I mentioned it, but the gold pinky signet ring Ken was wearing actually belonged to Jack Cassidy and he was wearing it when he died, it helped identify him. His son David had one that matched as well.
That's really neat; no i never knew that. That "ring-to-identify-the-wearer" practice.... That tradition is common among the wealthier folks, isn't it? I don't know why i noticed the ring in the first place. I think i'd just previously done "PRESCRIPTION MURDER" and here in "MURDER BY THE BOOK" and mens rings were still fresh in mind. If you want to hear me REALLY take liberties - I hope you'll check out my adaptation of "CANDIDATE FOR CRIME" - and specifically the CHP Vehicle Maintenance Stop as well as the mandated repairs ordered by the Highway Patrol. Thanks for your comments. Good talking to you man! :)
I humbly invite you to check out my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
THANK YOU so much for the good words. We only just today (6 March 2022) saw your nice comment, and we're grateful. More such stories can be heard at our website ProjectWasabi.com Blessings, Friend! :)
Chiaroscuro Amore Thank you, dear friend! It's my way to show honor to the writers Link, Levinson, and Bochco, and of course director Steven Spielberg.
Thank you Sonia, so much! The bad news is here on UA-cam some of my recent programmes are BLOCKED by NBC Universal. The GOOD NEWS is - these blocked items ARE available at my website projectwasabi.com I hope you'll come visit! :-)
What a nice way to start my morning. THANK YOU MIRABAI! If you enjoy THIS story - I hope you'll visit us online at projectwasabi.com If all goes well - our next programme "MURDER INVESTIGATION TEAM" should be out by or before Halloween 2020! Cheers! :)
Amazing job. Not sure how you even did this, but brilliant. I'm going to take it to my mom's house, she can't see tv well anymore, and we'll listen together. Thank you! And this is the best columbo episode ever.
ALRIGHT JACK! Blessings to you and your mom! As a matter of fact - when I'm creating these I always do everything with the sight impaired folks in mind. Most (but not "all") of my dramas are here on UA-cam. For a complete list of ALL my narrations - I humbly invite you to visit my website! projectwasabi.com
It's an honour Bette! Thanks for the good words. My next audio drama should be out by or before New Years' Day 2019 - if not here on UA-cam, you can find it at my website projectwasabi.com Blessings Bette! - B
Right On, Man! It really _is_ a whole different way of experiencing a story, isn't it? As you probably know - Spielberg was having technical issues with "Bruce the Shark" - which is why we nearly never actually "SAW" the shark in _JAWS._ It was all our imagination - which made the film so much better than it would have been otherwise. In short - Bruce's "breakdown" might have been one of the luckiest moments in Spielberg's life(?) LOL / and in the moment it was happening - i picture a frantic Spielberg, terribly upset that he'd had to do a "work-around", thus thinking it wouldn't be as good - and in fact it was quantum better. And thank you so very much, for the good words about this audio drama. If time permits, you're humbly invited to come visit us on the web at ProjectWasabi.com Blessings! :D
Mr. Newberry. Please permit me to congratulate you on a job exceedingly well done. Please be so good as to seriously consider adapting two of my favorite Columbo episodes into your creative/hybrid production. Namely; A Lady in Waiting and A Friend Indeed. In eager anticipation I remain - an avid follower. Thank you.
HELLO REZA! I'm sorry i only just now saw your lovely comment. Columbo is especially difficult as NBC Universal takes them down. However - if you come to our website ProjectWasabi.com - we have DEATH LENDS A HAND, and other Detective shows not available here on UA-cam. If all goes well, our next programme is due out Independence Day / 4th of July 2022. Blessings! :D
I agree, Thank You So Much for these descriptive audio Columbo episodes. I am not visually impaired, only near-sighted, yet I'm one of millions of workers who have to stare at monitors every day, both at work and at home. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, many of us seek a distraction, or "entertainment", through television, DVD's, or books - the former two requiring us to, again, look at monitors. Your audio episodes allow us to lean back, close our eyes, and listen to your voice as you wonderfully describe what is happening "on the screen". :) Yes, many times I've fallen asleep somewhere along the "journey" through which you are taking us, but I sometimes awake near the end where Columbo catches the murderer/murderess. Additionally, as a strange benefit, I can actually hear your voice in my dreamscape, and I can honestly tell you that you've made it possible for me to "see" episodes in my dream, where I physically become part of this unusual dream, like some strange witness, who is able to talk to and/or interact with the characters. A very nice and unexpected bonus. :D I Thank You, and my eyes Thank You! :D
AHHHH AMICE! - you just made my day! BLESSINGS FRIEND. Like you - my wife & I often fall asleep listening to audiobooks, and we're not visually impaired either. Just we enjoy - for exactly the reasons you said. WOWWWWW!! About the dreamscape. I'm honoured; thanks! :) If all goes well - "STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO" comes out Labor Day - Sept. 4th! And if you visit my website projectwasabi.com - you'll find Sherlock Holmes, Law & Order, and Dragnet! Thanks again Amice, and God bless! BN
"YES, I GET YA"!! I'm delighted to hear you're looking forward to next audio drama. It will be a "COLUMBO" coming *NEW YEARS DAY 2019*. First - the bad news is: NBC-Universal will likely block it here on UA-cam. The Good News is - you can hear it at my website projectwasabi.com Blessings DYGM - and "we'll talk to you soon!" :-)
I like the part when Ken tells the dingy store clerk “Why would you want to do that” before she blackmails him while ken is on a date with a hot dame and is forced to drop the date
i spent the weekend listening to all your work again. pearl of death law and order but i love the columbo ones the most. you really have put new life to them. let me know what your next project is please. when you know cheers for now.
WOWZERS! I'm delighted! WOW! Per the request of my beautiful wife - my next project will most likely be "THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO". If all goes well - it should be out (we hope) by or before Sept. 4th / LABOR DAY 2017! THANKS AGAIN PASCALL! You made my day! :D
What a unique presentation. I wasn't sure until about 10 minutes into the program and started back from the beginning. I hope there are more. Thank you.
BLESS YOU CARRIEANN! Thank you so much. To answer your gracious question - "YES" - there are more, all at my personal website - projectwasabi.com ENJOY! (& thanks again!)
Paladin! i only just now saw your gracious comment. *_THANK YOU!_* Coming Soon - our next programme premieres just as soon as the WGA Writers Strike is resolved. In the meantime, we humbly invite you to visit us onlie at ProjectWasabi.com Blessings! - BN
I love this- I've been listening to BBC radio crime dramas those are great too-but this is a great twist - especially Columbo- a couple of years ago I watched all of or mostly all of Columbo episodes- I wanna say this was either the 1st or 2nd one- you do a fabulous job editing and narrating!! That's a lot of work because you have to choose how to accurately describe what the listener is supposed to imagine without sound monotonous-it's not like u have a script- so you're awesome!! I can't wait to check out more and read the info you provide as well I haven't done that w this one yet. Anyways new sub thank you!!
What a lovely comment! THANK YOU SHAELYN! :-) My next audio drama should be out by or before Halloween. Glad to see you plan on reading the description as there is a LOT of good stuff there. Blessings amiga!
@@BrianNewberry De Nada- Amigo- one more question - will you ever do any other detectives besides Coloumbo, Dragnet? Like maybe Rockford Files or Spenser for Hire(I can't seem to think of any detectives at this very moment from that era- I know they did a Mike Hammar show w Stacey Keach for a bit..-I was 4 when those shows came on but I watched the reruns -and still do!
Thank You Geoff! Noticing the Arthur Conan Doyle video on your Favorites list, may I humbly invite you to check out my adaptation of PEARL OF DEATH. sherlockholmes.projectwasabi.com :)
Hi again Geoff! Since it's not on UA-cam - I thought you' like to know my newest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
Nikki! What a lovely thing to say. Your comment made me smile. If you like this story, you might also enjoy my OTHER stuff, all available at projectwasabi.com Blessings Friend! :)
Hi again Nikki! Since it's not on UA-cam - I humbly invite you to sample my newest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
@@BrianNewberry In some things, never got into Star Trek but Nimoy is just so rad. And if I had to give one, maybe two more Columbo suggestions, I would say "By Dawn's Early Light" and "Columbo Goes to College".
this is such hard HARD work, Brian(!) I salute the research you do in the socio-cultural aspects as well as your sense of humor in describing the non-dialogue parts the fake writer, the failed writer, the faux writer hahaha I am already rather familiar with the Columbo series and still- your work here is highlighting details I don't always pay attn to. truly appreciate your passion. *standing ovation**
Ciao Edio! Thank you again for you kind words a few months back. Thought you might like to hknow - I recently completed my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (not here on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
Edio! I just had the pleasure of reading your kind words from last year, and I wanted to comment. (please click "Read More"). 1. Since you wrote your gracious comments - my last three or four audio dramas were removed from UA-cam by NBC Universal. SO - I posted them on my personal website projectwasabi.com 2. Since you mentioned the "research" aspect - I really hope you'll check out "APOCRYPHA" ( LandO.projectwasabi.com ). at 1 Hour into the timeline - I used Google Maps' "STREETVIEW" to describe the streets & surroundings of the *_Manhattan Criminal Courthouse_* as well as the real-world Italian restaurant (Forlini's Tratoria) one block north. The motorcycle parking area is "TRUE and accurate" based as of last year's Google Maps. Thank you again Amigo, and God bless! :-)
Also wondering if you or anyone can find episodes of the very short series" Mrs.Columbo" in fact they may have ran them as tv specials that were 90minutes long. So there's not many but I swear they do exsist and when I Google it nothing shows up except the quirky fact of how the audience never meets Mrs.Columbo but he always speaks of her. I'd really like to check those out again. If anyone knows where they can be found please let me know :):)
Hey Shaelyn! Sorry - I only just now saw your comment here. I only know the PILOT episode is available on one of the COLUMBO DVD Box Sets (from the first 7 seasons - but I can't recall specifically which). SIDE NOTE: In Columbo terms the first 7 seasons were the best. Just like LAW & ORDER - the first SIX seasons were the best. So in each case - my wife & I refer to those first best seasons as "The Old Testament").
At last...the candyman (AKA Brian Newberry) gives us another Columbo!Appreciate your work on these. They are awesome. Thanks so much! You are appreciated. :)
Hi Charlotte! Hot off the Press! May I humbly invite you to check out my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (cannot yet upload here on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation
Hey Brian, brilliant storytelling on Candidate for Crime. You put it together so well, and your voice (if that is you) is music to the ears lol. Seriously, sensational stuff, and I did indeed listen to it at work. A sheer joy to take Columbo to work with me. Any chance Murder by the Book is gonna be available for download? It's my second favourite episode. Great work, man
Production Note (there will not be a test). at 25 minutes into CANDIDATE / the scene in his dentists office - Columbo & Dr Parenccio are listening to the opera RIGOLETTO (i.e. - this music is already / inseparably part of the original TV soundtrack.) Immediately before THIS scene - my narration introduces the scene and takes about a full minute to describe everything going on. Again - 1st my narrative - then the Dentist soundtrack. So to accompany my "pre-scene" narration - I use the same part of RIGOLETTO as you hear in the TV soundtrack. In fact, I synched it up exactly so that "my" rigoletto leads straight into "columbo's" rigoletto. ;-) If interested (& it's OK if you're not) - here it is, cued up ua-cam.com/video/yOtBsOY9DgE/v-deo.html
Ciao Spidey! Thought you'd like to know - Hot off the Press! I humbly invite you to sample my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (not available here on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation

Thank you Neil! :) If all goes well, our next programme is due out on US Independence Day / 4th of July, 2022. Not all our audio dramas are available here on UA-cam, so we humbly invite you to come visit us online at _ProjectWasabi.com_ :)
luapworrag thank you my friend! Right this moment I'm doing LAW & ORDER UK, and if all goes well, it will premiere this coming Labor Day Weekend / 2018 September 3rd. I hope NBC UNIVERSAL allows me to upload it. But if you don't see it here on UA-cam, then it should be at my website projeactwasabi.com Then a new Columbo - probably New Year's Day 2019! (each drama takes 3 or 4 months)! Thank you again luapworrag, for stopping by, and we'll "talk to you soon"! ;-)
THANK YOU CALVIN! "More" eh? Two answers: 1 - my next programme will be broadcast on Labor Day 3 Sept. 2018. 2 - Not everything I do makes it to UA-cam, so I hope you'll visit my website: projectwasabi.com Blessings Calvin! :)
Hey! Thanks Steve! If all goes well, our next programme (set in UK) comes out Christmas Day 2021! in the meantime, other episodes available at our website ProjectWasabi.com :) Blessings amigo! - BN
What a lovely comment! Thank you, amiga! Alas - this next one won't be Columbo. But the Good News is - that DOES take place in Los Angeles, it's "true crime" (non-fiction) and the heroes win in the end! :) Can you guess what it is? Here's a Hint: If all goes well - it's due out sometime before 27 February. Blessings Beryl - and *_we'll talk to you soon._* . :-)
DUDE! Thanks man! If all goes well, my next "Columbo" will be out New Years Day 2019. In the meantime, I'm currently working on a new "LAW & ORDER U.K." which should be out this Labor Day, 2018 Sept. 3rd. Once in a blue moon - NBC Universal will BLOCK my audio dramas here on UA-cam - but either way (where here or somewhere else) "ALL" my stuff is "corralled" at my personal website projectwasabi.com Finally - for OTHER audio dramas, I hope you'll check out this UA-cam's "DESCRIPTION" above. Click "SHOW MORE". :-) Thanks again Rev for the good words!
Johnny Fear - Blessings Good Sir! HA!! Regarding your gracious comment of "a lot of work put in" - TRUE! Each episode takes me about 3 months. But it's sort of a happy addiction of mine! :) No promises but I was seriously considering one of the "CULP-LUMBOS" for my next project. In the meantime, I humbly invite you to check out my OTHER Audio Dramas at projectwasabi.com (my favourite is CANDIDATE FOR CRIME). Blessings Johnny!
Ms. La Sanka (she had the overbite) and the reporter who interviewed Ken at his house also had an overbite which leads me to think that the character was written to have an overbite and the reporter was probably someone who auditioned for that role. Marcia Wallace is also in this episode and she had the overbite thing goin too. Ken's date at the theatre (Anita Ford) was one of the original Price Is Right models.
WOW! What cool background notes. Thanks EC! :) Sadly, the actress who played "Ms. La Sanka" died shortly after this show was filmed. She & a fellow actor had just finished a session at a Venice Beach acting class. As they walked out to the parking lot - they were both shot at. She died immediately, but her friend was able to file a report with LAPD - and then he died just a few minutes later. According to the police report NO ONE (including the male victim) knew why they were shot! Sad. :(
When I read that a few years back I was shocked. I looked her up on the IMDB and found out. First noticed her last acting gig was around 1975 and I wondered why she stopped.... then found out.
Hi again Electric Clock! Hot off the Press! I humbly invite you to sample my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" (cannot available on YT) - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation if you like it - i hope you'll share.
Dude! Thanks for the good words!, and to answer your gracious question... Yes! A couple are here on my *_UA-cam_* Channel, and others are at Project Wasabi's *_Facebook_* page - but you can find "everything" all corralled together at our website *_ProjectWasabi.com_**_._* BOLO for our next feature which premieres Christmas Day, 2021. Thank you for your service, and may God protect our troops! :)
This is one of my favorite episodes. Thanks so much. I know this process is time-consuming, and I appreciate your hard work. Will you be posting more "Columbo" episodes?
Hey filmnoir50 ! Thank you for the good words! My next one out is "LAW & ORDER UK" (due out Labor Day 2018 (3 Sept).) Then probably a COLUMBO New Years Day 2019. :-) Every so often NBC Universal will block my uploads from UA-cam. So I hope you'll come check out my website - projectwasabi.com Blessings! - BN
LOLL ("Laughed Out Loud Literally) - so for each 16 minutes of TV episode - I need one month to convert that 16 minutes. So once we remove the commercials - a 1 hr episode becomes 48 minutes, which takes me about 3 months. Then I plan my "PREMIERE" for whatever special occasion or holiday comes AFTER that 3 month period. E.g. Christmas, Tax Day, Super Bowl Sunday. Any "special occasion" that most people recognise. Butin terms of actual "content", Columbo episodes are a little LONGER than 1 hour (including commercials, each Columbo is 1 hr, 30 minutes.)
Happy Holidays FilmNoir! When last we spoke - I mistakenly said "New Years Day" but it's sooner than I thought. The next Columbo - "DEATH LENDS A HAND" premieres THANKSGIVING DAY MORNING (22 November 2018)! It may or may not be here on UA-cam. But either way (premiering THANKSGIVING) - you'll be able to hear it at DLH.projectwasabi.com Happy Thanksgiving! :-)
HEY SPIDEY! I only just now saw this wonderful review; bless your heart! How do you download . . ? I'm happy you'd ask. Let me work on this and get back to you! :)
Hey SPIDEY. Thanks for the great idea of a DOWNLOAD ("DL") version. --> DLcolumbo.projectwasabi.com Remember - the Download button is in the TOP RIGHT! :) So far, I've done "CANDIDATE FOR CRIME" (my personal favourite audio), and I'll get to others soon! Blessings Amigo!
WOW! That's a great observation. Since you asked, i listened to that part again & again, and & again, and it sounds like you're spot on! It's _possible_ he's saying "Thank you for that," but honestly i'm reaching, and your observation sounds spot on. If all goes well - our next programme is due out this Christmas / Chanukah 2024. _Thanks for listening, and we'll talk to you soon!_
Man, this was really good. I want to make audio dramas myself, so do you mind me asking what editing software you used? Also, what mic did you use? Again, great job, have a good day!
Dude! Thanks for your kind words - and I'm _delighted_ to talk about the software. Personally - I've been using the free download _AUDACITY_ and also _Acoustica iMix_ (the best $ 30 i've ever spent!) Here's a Free Demo of iMix --> download.cnet.com/Acoustica-MP3-Audio-Mixer/3000-2170_4-10029712.html Acoustica says they no longer "SUPPORT" this software - so they're giving it away for free. download.acoustica.com/legacy/Acoustica-MP3-Audio-Mixer-Installer.exe (don't worry about the "cybersafe warning" - i can vouch for this company, as i've been using their software for nearly 20 years (iMix first came out in 2001)). I record everything on Apple iPhone (early on the iPhone 4, then the iPhone 6, and now iPhone SE 2020). I'm sure Android is every bit as good! Scene by scene - i write each line from the episode, and write in my own narration, one scene at a time. I made the mistake once of writing the whole TV script up front, all at once, and "THEN" adding in my narration. BIG MISTAKE. Far better to write it scene-by-scene. For me at least; don't know why. Try to only "narrate" when necessary. If the audience can tell what's going on just from the dialog - then no need for narration. Sometimes - the characters say something inaudible. When this happens, i - the narrator - take the obscure phrase, and work it into my narration - just before the TV character says it. That way - the audience has the phrase fresh in their ear, and they're sort of ready for it. If you have any questions - please ask here in comments - *_OR_* you can email me at brian@ProjectWasabi.com If all goes well - our next programme comes out this Christmas 2021. PLEASE send me your first audio drama - i would LOVE to hear your work. :)
@@BrianNewberry Thanka for the advice. Can't wait for the next one I'll definitely send you the audio drama when I finish it, just gotta find time to actually make it haha. Have a good day
By the way - regarding microphones - over the years - i've purchased dedicated microphones, as well as the TASCAM digital audio recorder (which is a self-contained microphone and mp3 storage device all rolled into one). NOTHING works as well as the Apple iPhone Mic. (again - the same might be true of Android mics, but I'm not as familiar with Android). Point being - try using your smartphone mic BEFORE you spend money on a dedicated microphone which might not be as good as your smartphone. By the way - in order to get the sound *FROM* my iPhone *TO* my Windows PC - i send it to Google Drive. Once there, i can download it to my PC. If you can do it with your USB cable then more power to you. Personally i was never able to do this with USB cable; hence the Google Drive.
Happy Holidays Radium! Thank you for your good words. :-)
Now on this one - I didn't have a specific "REASON" for changing it. I just remembered it wrong. Yeah - when I'm writing the narration - sometimes I'll be writing with that scene right in front of me - then other times I'll write from memory. I allow myself the freedom to be wrong - unless of course it's something specifically necessary for the story.
@@RADIUMGLASS No kidding! QUESTION: Did you just take a liking to that specific chair from watching this Columbo? Or had you always wanted a chair like that, and that's why you so vividly recall its type & model in this episode?
@@BrianNewberry Saw the chair in this episode when I was 10 years old and never forgot it. Kind of a weird thing to remember, but I could never remember anything for a test lol. I even tried to draw it then. In 1987, I saw the "Haunted Mouth" narrated by Caeser Romero on a film projector and there was one similar to the blue one in that film and that was another one I never forgot. I never came close to getting one of those, but was able to get one from 1960 that resembled the one in the oval office. Using it for 20 years, it's due for an overhaul. Here's the one in the Haunted Mouth ua-cam.com/video/V6A_iuZORQQ/v-deo.html
Thanks Deborah - for your kind words. If all goes well - my next audio dramas should be out by Thanksgiving 2020! Since you enjoyed this programme, I invite you to come visit my personal website. There you'll also find a few dramas not available here in UA-cam. Thanks again Deborah and STAY HEALTHY / SALUD! :-)
Right On, Scott! Yes Sir. This episode has always been one of my favourites - partly BECAUSE of Spielberg, and also good to note - it's WRITTEN BY Steve Bochco (Hill St. Blues & NYPD Blue). Thank you so much for mentioning the Spielberg element! Not just because he's Spielberg (which is reason enough) but moreover - because he did such a good job on this episode.
Hey Josh! Thanks for asking! Next one is due out LABOR DAY (3 Sept. 2018). "LAW & ORDER UK". How about that! The narrator is a yank; all others Brits! Wish me luck! :)
By the way - you might already know this but just in case you don't. Once in a blue moon, NBC Universal will BLOCK my uploads here on UA-cam, so I must host them somewhere else. So for this reason - I hope you'll check out my website projectwasabi.com . Unlike "UA-cam" (which has "most" of my stuff) - my website has ALL OF MY STUFF! CHEERS!
everything all together at my personal site projectwasabi.com / / I'm so pleased you would ask.... My stuff gets taken down so frequently - i end up hosting them at different sites, often switching around like a shell game. so for this reason - i try to keep everything up to date at my personal website ProjectWasabi.com Blessings! :)
Oh - there's just one more thing... if that link doesn't work - then try my wordpress site - projectwasabi.wordpress.com - and thanks again for stopping by! :)
Columbo - my favorite TV series of ALL time; it's riddled with imperfection and hokum but too much is right for complaint. Nice to see you take it to task in your inimitable way.
Peter Falk would have had a good voice for radio, had they adapted "Columbo" for radio. I compare it to Casey Kasem, who I think would have made a nice second choice to play the detective.
Just that phrase gives me a pleasant chill up my spine. LONG LIVE COLUMBO, and the decency and honour of which he gently reminds us. There ought to be a "St. Columbo". Anyway - Thanks for the good thought. Blessings & Good Health to you, Paul! :)
Jack Cassidy wasn't a nice person. He was a diva. In an interview with his ex-wife Shirley Jones, she said that he was very jealous of his sons popularity, and when she decided to divorce him because she'd had enough of his verbal and emotional abuse, the boys asked her if they'd could go with her! They didn't want to be with him either. :\
I have heard similar things about Jack Cassidy. Sad. With all that he had going for him (women, men, a loving family, drugs & pills, money, a rewarding job, nice car, nice apartment.....) - you'd think he'd have been happier, more grateful.
Hodgepodge Buhgodge Many would agree. Personally from what I've read, he was a dick head, but maybe not a "devil". I think he did more harm to himself than he did to others. He was bipolar (I think before they knew what bipolar was.). Not uncommon in the arts. He was non monogamous, and did a variety of drugs. Killed himself accidentally at a young age. I kind of feel bad for the guy. Not that he was a saint (tsk) I dunno....
@@hodgepodgebuhgodge3739 yes - a lit cigarette on the couch. I heard that too. They found him on the floor near the door, apparently after the fire started, he awoke, and tried to either walk or crawl to the door.
Brian, what happened to the Prescription Murder audio drama? You had it. Did you have to take it off? I have the Columbo complete series on dvd, but I like listening to you. Let me know about Prescription Murder and when you are going to do more. Thanks.
Beryl - you just made my day! :) Prescription Murder ("PM") 1. You're right - I had to take it down _(& relocate it)._ 2. Now it's on my Facebook Page - "PROJECT WASABI") Or you can use this address: PM.ProjectWasabi.com More Columbo's and others available at my personal website sites.google.com/view/projectwasabi To put it another way - *_Some_* of my stuff is on UA-cam, and *_some_* is on Facebook - but *_EVERYTHING_* can be found at my personal site / sites.google.com/view/projectwasabi :-) PLEASE let me know if you have any trouble. Thanks again, Beryl - for taking the time to ask. Stay Healthy / _SALUD!_ - B
Hey Kevin. _"What if I killed ... you?"_ Hmm. Sorry. i don't follow. Of course such a phrase could easily find its way into any Levinson & Link project. But i can't recall it being in anything they wrote. Again - i'm not clear on what your initial comment means. LOL / and being the OCD type i am, i'm even trying to find meaning in your ... elipsis. Does that indicate a missing word? What if i killed _all of_ you? What if i killed *_some of_* you? LOL / dude - i'm not saying, "You don't know what you're talking about." What i'm saying is _"I don't know_ what you're talking about." :)
Picture Levison saying it to Link, or vice-versa. They were a mystery writing team, just like the two guys who created Mrs. Mellvllle. So I am picturing Levison saying, "Imagine if a mystery writer (a guy like me) wanted to kill his partner (a guy like you)." It seems to be art imitating life. This two-man mystery-writing team invented a two-man mystery-writing team and pitted them against each other. Presto - a premise for a Columbo episode.
I would only mention that I must manually create those "no dialog" parts. I don't say this to nit-pick, rather because this is the most difficult (& addictively "FUN") part of each project! I humbly invite you to check out my latest audio drama (Law & Order) - currently hosted on "soundcloud" - - soundcloud.com/emailnewberry/audio-drama-law-order-renunciation Cheers! :)
THANK YOU! I never knew exactly what that meant. So (if memory serves) it was Ken Franklin who used that term, and you're saying he used the term incorrectly(?) Thanks for that.
@@ianmangham4570Dude - i *_wish!_* i really do. Sadly - Columbo & Law & Order are the most likely to get pulled by NBC Universal. They've allowed me a couple, but they've taken down others. I don't "blame" them; it's their content. But i do wish they'd cut me a little slack. Best i can tell you is i'll keep putting up "SOMETHING". Blessings man! Stay Safe, and thanks for the feedback! :D

Good call.
Whoever has compiled these stories from the tv series, has certainly done a fabulous job. What a joy when only up to listening-reclining not watching/sitting up. Having watched most of the series in years gone by, these is a pure treat.

I wanted to throw on some Columbo in the background while I was at work, and I stumbled across this. Next thing I knew it was time to clock out! I fully agree! Steven Spielberg and Steven Bochco. Where's the down side!
Your production work belongs in that sentiment. Well done!
You're extremely gracious Darrin! I'm honoured, thanks.

@@BrianNewberry greatly appreciated! The narration, it’s almost like watching the episode.

Always enjoy these. Thanks!
THANK YOU DEB, for the good words! Cheers! :D
When you have to use your imagination, it's great . I grew up with the Fat Man , The Shadow Knows, etc, so I appreciate the audio.
In short - Bruce's "breakdown" might have been one of the luckiest moments in Spielberg's life(?)
LOL / and in the moment it was happening - i picture a frantic Spielberg, terribly upset that he'd had to do a "work-around", thus thinking it wouldn't be as good - and in fact it was quantum better.
And thank you so very much, for the good words about this audio drama.
If time permits, you're humbly invited to come visit us on the web at ProjectWasabi.com Blessings!

Yes, many times I've fallen asleep somewhere along the "journey" through which you are taking us, but I sometimes awake near the end where Columbo catches the murderer/murderess. :D
I Thank You, and my eyes Thank You! :D
AHHHH AMICE! - you just made my day! BLESSINGS FRIEND.

Absolutely love what you're doing with the best show on television,
looking forward to the next one
Paladin! i only just now saw your gracious comment. *_THANK YOU!_*
Coming Soon - our next programme premieres just as soon as the WGA Writers Strike is resolved.
My next audio drama should be out by or before Halloween.
Very well put together, Thoroughly enjoyed it, Thank you ;-)
Thank You Geoff! Noticing the Arthur Conan Doyle video on your Favorites list, may I humbly invite you to check out my adaptation of PEARL OF DEATH.

@@BrianNewberry In some things, never got into Star Trek but Nimoy is just so rad.

this is such hard HARD work, Brian(!)
I salute the research you do in the socio-cultural aspects
as well as your sense of humor in describing the non-dialogue parts
the fake writer, the failed writer, the faux writer hahaha
I am already rather familiar with the Columbo series
and still- your work here is highlighting details I don't always pay attn to.
truly appreciate your passion. *standing ovation**
Right on Edio! Thanks man! LOVE LOVE LOVE Columbo! :D
SO - I posted them on my personal website projectwasabi.com
your work is so well cool.
So in each case - my wife & I refer to those first best seasons as "The Old Testament").
that one episode of "MRS. COLUMBO" - that's on Columbo SEASON 4! Hope this helps.
At last...the candyman (AKA Brian Newberry) gives us another Columbo!Appreciate your work on these. They are awesome. Thanks so much! You are appreciated. :)

Great work, man
MBB as a download. Sounds like a good idea. :)
THANKS SPIDEY! For the good words.
Production Note (there will not be a test). at 25 minutes into CANDIDATE / the scene in his dentists office - Columbo & Dr Parenccio are listening to the opera RIGOLETTO (i.e. - this music is already / inseparably part of the original TV soundtrack.)
Immediately before THIS scene - my narration introduces the scene and takes about a full minute to describe everything going on. Again - 1st my narrative - then the Dentist soundtrack.
So to accompany my "pre-scene" narration - I use the same part of RIGOLETTO as you hear in the TV soundtrack. In fact, I synched it up exactly so that "my" rigoletto leads straight into "columbo's" rigoletto. ;-)
If interested (& it's OK if you're not) - here it is, cued up

luapworrag thank you my friend!
Right this moment I'm doing LAW & ORDER UK, and if all goes well, it will premiere this coming Labor Day Weekend / 2018 September 3rd.
I hope NBC UNIVERSAL allows me to upload it.
But if you don't see it here on UA-cam, then it should be at my website projeactwasabi.com
Then a new Columbo - probably New Year's Day 2019! (each drama takes 3 or 4 months)!
Thank you again luapworrag, for stopping by, and we'll "talk to you soon"! ;-)
Thank you for your Great work,,,,more,,,,pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

Alas - this next one won't be Columbo.
But the Good News is - that DOES take place in Los Angeles, it's "true crime" (non-fiction) and the heroes win in the end! :)
Can you guess what it is? Here's a Hint: If all goes well - it's due out sometime before 27 February.

Thanks EC! :)
Sadly, the actress who played "Ms.
HA! Exactly my same observation / discovery path. As my wife sometimes says - "two minds of a single but!!" ;-)

But either way (premiering THANKSGIVING) - you'll be able to hear it at DLH.projectwasabi.com

Does Ken accidentally say Columbo’s first name at 54:30? “Thank you Frank”
Personally - I've been using the free download _AUDACITY_ and also _Acoustica iMix_ (the best $ 30 i've ever spent!)
Here's a Free Demo of iMix --> download.cnet.com/Acoustica-MP3-Audio-Mixer/3000-2170_4-10029712.html
Acoustica says they no longer "SUPPORT" this software - so they're giving it away for free.
download.acoustica.com/legacy/Acoustica-MP3-Audio-Mixer-Installer.exe
(don't worry about the "cybersafe warning" - i can vouch for this company, as i've been using their software for nearly 20 years (iMix first came out in 2001)).
If you have any questions - please ask here in comments - *_OR_* you can email me at brian@ProjectWasabi.com
If all goes well - our next programme comes out this Christmas 2021.
PLEASE send me your first audio drama - i would LOVE to hear your work. :)
@@BrianNewberry Thanka for the advice. Can't wait for the next one
I'll definitely send you the audio drama when I finish it, just gotta find time to actually make it haha.
@@BrianNewberry Thanks for the extra advice :)

3:56 the desk chair wasn't fake leather, it was fabric.
@@BrianNewberry I've been searching eBay for a chair like that for years lol
Here's the one in the Haunted Mouth

Were you aware Steven Spielberg directed this episode? I just found that out.
Let's not forget the great cast in this episode !!!
When can we expect new audio dramas?
Hey Josh! Thanks for asking! Next one is due out LABOR DAY (3 Sept. 2018). "LAW & ORDER UK". How about that! The narrator is a yank; all others Brits! Wish me luck!

Thanks for your input Kenneth. :D
Riddled with imperfections, seriously! You would not be an easy person to work with . I thought it was brilliant and very enjoyable.
Peter Falk would have had a good voice for radio, had they adapted "Columbo" for radio. I compare it to Casey Kasem, who I think would have made a nice second choice to play the detective.
''Oh! There is just one thing sir!
I heard he feel asleep with a lit cigarette on a couch and burned to death. A fitting end for a devil.

There is no video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
no good?
You can see where Levinson & Link would write this. "What if I killed ... you?"
LOL / dude - i'm not saying, "You don't know what you're talking about."
What i'm saying is _"I don't know_ what you're talking about." :)
Picture Levison saying it to Link, or vice-versa. They were a mystery writing team, just like the two guys who created Mrs. Mellvllle. So I am picturing Levison saying, "Imagine if a mystery writer (a guy like me) wanted to kill his partner (a guy like you)."
It seems to be art imitating life. This two-man mystery-writing team invented a two-man mystery-writing team and pitted them against each other. Presto - a premise for a Columbo episode.
@@kevinobrien9626 right on man. Good one!
Oh, I see. You took the actual episode and provided narration when there is no dialogue. Clever. 😉
Thanks Bronte! :)
I would only mention that I must manually create those "no dialog" parts. I don't say this to nit-pick, rather because this is the most difficult (& addictively "FUN") part of each project!

Corpus delicti means of course, body of evidence. But it means the actual evidence found at the scene NOT the body of the victim!

Brian Newberry : Your welcome. :D
Very well done. But, I think this episode of Columbo has an extremely weak "gotcha" ending. It doesn't prove he was the murderer.
Colombo lies to catch his man.
