    Loves Brewfather. Inventory is probably the most under rated feature of the software. I love how it keeps me organized.

    I have used the inventory system for over a year and it works!!! It tells you everything you need and will even figure out how much your batch costs. One trick I do is if the batch you are brewing takes your inventory to zero, then add one more gram or ml to your brew to make it a negative inventory. This way you will see what needs to be ordered. ( If the inventory is zero then that skew disappears from your inventory list)

    Thanks again Brian, I have used the inventory but wasn’t aware that you could add products to it so very helpful.

    Hey Brian, Loved that you covered this topic. Brewfather is my go to brew software. I just renewed for a second year. One thing I find useful is the grocery list. At 9:00 in your video, there is a print button in the inventory section of the planning phase/tab. Clicking this will download a pdf that can be printed and taken to your brew shop. It lists what your recipe needs and what what amounts you are missing. It breaks it down by category: fermentable, hop, etc. Nice work as usual! Take care. 🍻🤓

    The cloud based Inventory system in BF was a killer feature for me... used to try to use inventory in Beersmith, but it was stored on one PC, so using cloud recipes on different devices wouldn't work too well with the inventory.
    One thing I'd love to see is an inventory location since I store my speciality grains in different pet food buckets.. so it's a huge time saver to just look in the one bucket instead of searching all 6. I use the notes field currently, but in the batch planning screen, which I love, the notes aren't shown. Anyhow, an inventory location that could show on the batch planning screen would be huge for me. Great video!

      Just add a number to the grain description so it shows on the brew screen

      Haha yeah I hear you. Put a small dry erase board on the lid of your buckets and then write what's in them. 👍🍻

    Love the video! I've been using Brewfather for about one year now and it's incredibly useful. I love being able to check my inventory and design recipes from anywhere.
    One feature I'd like to see would be for Brewfather to show me which of my recipes I could brew based on my current inventory. I usually plan well ahead but occasionally I'll have a free day and decide to do a spur of the moment brew day.
    Also, I hadn't heard of OO Flavors in the past but I'm going to check them out. I love blueberries but getting the flavor of them to come across in a beer or cider has been a challenge.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  2 роки тому

      Yeah I thought a similar feature would be really cool. Try some of the flavoring. Beats Brewers best hands down! And last FOREVER! At 1 ml for 5 gallons. Only thing I use for blueberry beers now. 👍🍻

    Another tip: from the planner tab you can print inventory list and use as a shopping list. But who needs a shopping list on paper? You can use the list shown in the app as the shopping list. And to update stock: just stay in the planner tab and click the pen-symbol next to the stock number shown to add a new value. No need to switch over to the inventory list.

    Awesome video Brian! I've noticed if you have the same hop from different years or different AA% in order to add it to inventory you have to copy the original or newly added hop in inventory and edit the info. Just something to think about! Cheers!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  2 роки тому +1

      Yep that's how you do that. Would be good to add the year to the name. "Citra 2020"

    • @exit12homebrew
      @exit12homebrew 2 роки тому

      I believe the year is reflected regardless though, in inventory and during recipe building so if you include the year with the hop name it may reflect twice.

    If you don't know the cost per pound, you can hit the + and put in the total price you paid for it and the number of pounds. I like doing that when I receive my order.

    Thanks for this great video!
    Question, dont know if this is possible though. If I download a recipe from the community can it change the recipe easily so it matches my inventory? For example I do have all the hops but they don't match the once in the recipe because of different Alpha accid. Would be nice to add the hops you have and it automatically scales.

    Thanks for the video - another Brewfather question - the Brewfather pitch rate calculator lets one select either "calc viability" or "PurePitch". If I'm using white labs yeast, should I choose the PurePitch option? The PurePitch options gives a higher viability number.

    I can't seem to figure out how to add multiple forms of the same type of hops. For example I have 12oz of pellet hops and 10oz of cryo. Do I just have to add a new hop item even though it's already in there?

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah just add it as a new inventory item and then you can add it to your recipes. I how to do that with some Citraa Lupo Max recently.👍🍻

    I am still debating BeerSmith 3 vs Brew Father. I have a free year from BeerSmith for subscribing to Craft Beer & Brewing so I will spend some time with it but I like the UI of Brew Father better, too bad they didn't give the option of the free service.
