Continuing his visit to flood-hit areas in Metro Manila on the wake of Super Typhoon Carina and enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally assessed the Navotas City navigational gate on July 25, 2024.
The gate was damaged when a barge forced its way through the channel last June. When Super Typhoon Carina brought in heavy rainfall to different areas in Luzon, Navotas City was among those that suffered the worst flooding due to the damaged navigational gate, which was supposed to serve as the City's barrier during high tide or under continuous rain.
During his inspection, President Marcos Jr. distributed relief packages to residents he met while passing through the flooded streets of Navotas City. He also passed by the Tanza National High School in Barangay Tanza 2 where around 183 families or 862 individuals took shelter after being displaced by the Super Typhoon and habagat.
