Hi. Mary. Oh Bunnys house I have met Bunny and have the great privilege of being at her home, its wonderful, fabulous and special, Bunny is a special person. Thank you for another beautiful presentation. Your Easter table... beautiful. Nice job on the tray looks great. Thanks. Happy Easter.
I have never met Bunny. I would love to visit her Connecticut home. I'm sure it was fabulous in every way. I love John Rosselli. Was he there? Thanks for watching James, and for commenting. Happy Easter!
I like Bunny Williams, but I've never really loved her work. I guess it boils down to the realization that her passions are not my passions. That being said, I love that she is so invested in her "forever home." We live in a world in which our younger generations see everything as temporary or disposable... even homes. My aging parents sold their "forever home' of almost 50 years a few years ago and relocated to an age-friendly condo. It broke my heart. Hopefully Bunny will inspire younger generations to build and cherish a forever home of their own, too.
YES! I thought of the John Ruskin quote when I read your comment, as I do not view things as temporary or disposable at all. Owning a home for 50 years; that's a lot of memories. Was the decision to sell difficult for your parents?
@@thetartantopiary More so for me than for them, I suspect. They downsized when they were in their late 70s to a 3-bedroom condo (all on one level), which was a lot easier for them to manage. No lawn, no stairs, etc. Fortunately, they kept their interiors much the same, so I'm still surrounded by childhood memories when I visit. 🙂
I have like many people loved and enjoyed Bunny’s designs and her wonderful book. I didn’t know that the inspiration for her began at a visit to the Greenbrier. I have a postcard from my father when he was at the Greenbrier in the 1960’s on a business trip. And a photograph of him in front of a fountain there.I have kept it all these years . Sadly at the age of 43 he passed away suddenly. He had shared how beautiful the Greenbrier was and wanted to take us back as a family one day. Thank you for sharing that. Your tray came out beautifully.I wish you and your family a very Happy Easter and a happy Spring.
What a great thing to have from your father. Have you been to the Greenbriar? If not, you should go. It would be a way to connect to your father. He must have been impressed with it, especially if he wanted to bring the family back. I did a video on a book about the Greenbriar written by Carelton Varney. He was a design assistant for Ms. Draper and until his death, last year, worked very hard to keep the hotel exactly the way Ms. Draper had designed it. Thanks for sharing that story. Happy Easter to you!
I adore Bunny's style, creativity, and her inspiration. As one who has to " take what you have and work with it" she has taught me how to do just that.
I thought the same thing. The only thing that dates this book were a few of the color choices, but you are right, great design will never go out of style! Happy Easter to you as well.
Thank you. I met her once several years ago at the High Point Furniture Market. She had been answering questions and signing books all day. She was still charming and took the time to converse with everyone.
I too am working on an old commode, also! Doing almost what you have done to your tray (which I LOVE )! I purchased new knobs, one of which is a bunny for the cupboard part, not the drawers. Im doing the gold trim and taking some watered down stain and going over it lightly to give it an aged look! you are such an inspiration to me .! I love taking trash and making it a pure treasure! Happy Easter! I love your table!
Thanks, Shirley. I would love to see your commode. Just out of curiosity, does it have a marble top or wood? Thanks for watching and I hope you have a happy Easter as well.
Great book choice for Easter! I love everything about Bunny Williams and I think I have all but one of her books. I have this one. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. Also for sharing your project! I have several items, including a very similar tray, which could use this treatment. Now my head is spinning with ideas. Thank you!!
I had the same problem, as my head was spinning with ideas for the tray. I almost went with a Willow Blue theme. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a wonderful Easter.
Thanks for giving us this glimpse into Bunny Williams beloved home. It is apparent that a lot of love and hard work went into creating such a comfortable and beautiful home. Also the roses are exquisite. I love roses!🌹
Omg I’m surprised to see your DIY tray! I’ve been searching the internet and YT on how to DIY my own papier-mâché furniture and decor in that typical Victorian English style. With it being mostly black and hand painted gilding and usually flowers with varnish.. how did they make it so smooth and strong?! I thought, “Dang, is it so niche that I can’t find ANYTHING??” Well look what I stumbled across… different materials but the same look! Yay
Hi Mary! Oh this segment really “tugged at my heartstrings” and Bunny’s home and gardens are beyond beautiful. Your review is so interesting, giving us details that we didn’t know. I love your home and the renewed tray. We have lots of lizards and although I haven’t named them, I speak to them as they look up at me from their place in the plants or porch chairs! We also have tree frogs and toads. What a thoughtful and gorgeous gift for your mother and the card is beautiful too. Sharing another look at your Easter table is a treat too. Thank you and please, keep doing what you do so well!
I'm glad you talk to the little creatures as well! It's the eye contact that motivates conversation. Thank goodness there isn't a hidden camera in my garden. Thanks for watching, Janice. See you in the next one!🦎💗
😊I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who names lizards; and birds and squirrels and fish. Your tray is lovely. The gold accent with the image you chose makes a beautiful statement. I learned of Bunny Williams from my mother and grandmother when I was very young. Bunny is the best!
Yes- Bunny is really one of the great designers. I can't think of anyone else alive today that can say they worked with Sister Parish and Albert Hadley. Tell your lizards that my lizards said "hello". 🦎😁
I love her work, it’s too overdone for me, but I love it and I’m fascinated by it. It’s just amazing! And I take away ideas for my own home. Her attention to detail is fabulous. She and her husband are so talented.
I appreciate that you can see the talent, even though the style is not for you. Many people will discount the talent of a designer just because the design is not to their taste. Good for you! There are many books I feature with rooms in them that I could never live with. Design is subjective for sure!
Hi Mary! I love Bunny Williams and her style of decorating! The tray you refurbished turned out beautifully! You are so talented! I look forward to the next review and wish you and yours a beautiful and happy Easter! Hugs! :)
My favorite book! What a dream, Bunny's home is. The Forever Roses are a classic; they look lovely in your minty blue green space. Love the black/gold tray update, too. Thank you for the visual treat! Happy Easter to you & yours!
Bunny Williams is one of my favorite designers that I have found. I do enjoy her approach to design and mixing the styles to make the eye happy. I made sure to purchase all of her books when I started collecting. Another great book review. Happy Easter 🐣🐰
I love Bunny also; especially her connection to the past and southern roots. The fact that she was inspired by Dorothy Draper to become a decorator and actually worked for Sister Parish and Albert Hadley is pretty fabulous. I hope you have a wonderful Easter as well!
I love Bunny Williams designs and homes. A reminder one does not have to live in a stark white home with no details. Maximal will return. The hostess did not state how she fixed the card to the tray but an easy way to do this kind of project is using high quality stickers. I recommend John Derian's Sticker Book! Full of great period images. And not terribly expensive.
The gold paint kept the chinoiserie print in place and the varnish permantly adhered the print to the tray. That’s a great suggestion about the John Derian stickers.
@@thetartantopiary And John Derian's Wallpaper gift wrap book is great too. I really enjoy your channel. While you don't actually visit these homes your videos often present much clearer pictures from the books than the swooping around hand held videos of other channels. Keep up the good work.
Mary, have you written a book? I know a garden designer who put her 30 years with one garden into a book. I think your house and garden are inspiring. I did keep 12 crystal bowls out of the 80. I gave some of those to relatives the following Christmas unused and in a box. I traded the 68 for blankets and place mats!
I have written a book, but not about design. It is a history book about my hometown of Wallace, NC. I will probably put the tray outside, but in a covered area.
Hi Mary, lovely book!! Bunny has a beautiful home, I have seen it several times on youtube and admire it every time. Your tray turned out Beautiful! Enjoy! Thank you for sharing another wonderful book. Hope you have a Blessed Easter!!✝️🙏🐇🌷🐣
Good morning, as always it is my best channel to watch but specially today for you have restored a tray like one I have , I have a project to start for when I return from KY ., thank you for such a great work you always put your soul and spirit in your doings. With sincere love an early Happy Mother's day to special person like you .
Oh Mary, thank you for this beautiful video. Bunny Williams is a treasure. I love the tole tray that you decorated. I just purchased the Forever Roses for my daughter for her Mother’s Day gift. What a great idea! Thank you for the code. Happy Easter Mary to you and your family. 💕🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
I have the same trays and it hurt me to see that particular one get painted over because that one was the first one I bought that started my collection. However you did do a nice job recreating a new version.
I absolutely love Bonnie ! So happy to see you share her new book with the rest of us. Looks like a must buy. The reason you are not seeing too many tree frogs it’s because they’ve all gone to Tallahassee to my home. Let me know if you want to come by too see them 😊!!!! Liked the chinoiserie tray. Happy Resurrection Day.
Thank you and Happy Easter! I'm glad to know that tree frogs are plentiful in Tallahassee. There is something sweet about them, in my opinion. I realize this could be just a little strange also. 😁

The good thing about downsizing is the money leftover for your elderly parents to spend time with others who travel and tourism is good for the soul

Bunny Williams: The greatest interior designer in the US -- her talent is inherent to who she is!
I think you might be right. Thanks for the comment!
Loved this book for years. Great design never goes out of style! Thank you Mary and Happy Easter. 🐣

I absolutely love this book and Bunny’s style. The mix of so many styles and elements is what thrills me.
Yes- it's layered and acquired over time. It also probably helps to have a husband that deals in antiquities. 😁
It's always good to have an expert agreeing with the wife
Loved the tray tutorial, and the peeks into your garden!

Nope....I have a degree, with honors, from Chamberlayne in Boston.......this is garbage......
Do you consider all seven of Bunny's books "garbage" or just this one?
