Issue being is none of the QC weapons really have a distinctive sound, which is imperative for you to know what weapons are being used in the area, unless you want to turn a corner and walk into a rocket.
yea I think they're alright, I actually like the new machinegun sound more than the old one but I did like the old shotgun sound because it feels heavier than the new

@Xaero you're probably Id S. fanboy. Unreal Tournament came 10 days earlier than Quake "3" Remastered Multiplayer, was overall better in graphics, art style, weapon diversity and gamemodes.
Nothing like giving us long time of sounds from Q3 that we all know (or who played Q3 or QL at least) to shorter from new one. I still prefer old ones, but that's nostalgia and I know it.
It's because it is a mix of two. That design first appeared in Q2 I guess, and then reappeared in Q3 with minimal differences. The sound and reload mechanism are identical to Q3. You can unlock the Quake 1 rocket launcher and I'm 80% sure it makes a different sound. Model is in the middle of the screen though ala Q1, might not be everyone's cup of tea.
yeah it was a bit weird though. In the middle of the game suddenly you get a centered rocket launcher. So I'm currently still using the stock rocket launcher
And yeah Stock RL looks better too. I mean nostalgia is great, but I have more nostalgia over the Q3 weapons, and the QC is modelled after that so I love it. The Q2 railgun is pretty nice too. It reminds you of Q3 enough, but also the old days. Those two were very similar. Wish they would add colour changes to the rail fx. That would be dope.
in a way i agree with you but the new sounds are more realistic. Q3 sounds are more fun to my opinion and the rocket laucher sounds are why i still love this weapon. Overall when i blew up corpses 😂😂😂❤
It's easy to say that now when the sounds are etched into your head almost two decades after it was released. I have no doubt that quake champions sounds will become just as iconic to those who play it for the years to come.
I agree. I really feel the sound department has failed. Sounds are way to generic overall in the game. In q3 you can hear from the sounds exactly what model the enemy is playing as, what weapon and how far away. The generic feel of QC ruins this for me. :( It feels like they've tried to 'turn up the volume' when designing champions but to me they feel so 'edgy 12 year old'.
Extreme reverb in QC causing unnecessary audial artifacts which make the overall sounds less distinguished. But a couple of the sounds are still better like the gauntlet and I kinda prefer that LG, especially if they used less reverb and removed that 500hz-2khz bassdrum click it has
Not sure why people think champions are better, the game's supposed to be a futuristic non realistic FPS, but now all the guns sound like they're from call of duty.
They have a beefier, more visceral sound that lets you know that they're dangerous weapons. They sound and look like they're gonna hurt if you're shot by them.
The old guns sound like cymbals in a video game. The new guns sound like power tools in a warehouse. They're both fine, but it's very hard for me to prefer the new ones. More realism, less loud, cartoony, videogamey exaggerated personality.
The shotgun and rocket just have less bass and more grainy detail. I honestly prefer that since I really want to hear other people on the map more than my own gun. The q3 railgun is in the game. I don't like the skeletal design on the new one as well, it's just too confusing and obstructive.
Railgun better in QC Shotgun better in QC Machinegun better in QC Lightning gun better in QC Rocket better in QC Nailgun better in QC Gauntlet better in QC

I remember that it kinda had the gameplay of battlefield, and by that I mean that you could be a medic, sniper, assault. And all that, there were vehicles and big maps. EDIT:I googled it and It's enemy territory Quake Wars.
New sounds are good but if you use the other skins it also changes the way the gun sounds. Example: using the Quake 2 railgun skin for quake champions also uses the same sound from quake 2. Same with the lightning gun skin for quake 4.
It's just a matter of the fanboy effect. Familiar stuff seems better. Though they must have reduced the power on most of the sounds for the sake of map awareness, and I welcome that choice.
It was four variations of CTF, maps for them, a few neat powerups like Double damage (Weaker quad), Scout (Weaker haste) ETC, a chaingun (Faster machine gun) Nailgun (X2 projectile shotgun) and a proximity mine (Copy of the Quake 1 DoE expansion weapon), and three player models (but their reskins, not much value). It definitely felt like a content update you payed for. Now you can get Quake Live and get all of this content for much cheaper and with some polish.
Technically the super shotgun sound and animation style is that of Quake1.
