This video just changed my world!!! Now I don’t need to have 3 different reverb/delay etc stomps for my rig. I can make the presets to how I like them and then save the scenes!!!
I really missed your videos, they are really cool, I can always learn something new from them. I have a question for you if you don't mind... Do you think the PB is worth coming from a GB? I'm looking forward to an upgrade and I find myself choosing between Headrush and Helix.
Hi Adrian, Ok, tricky question! I've had a full Helix, a Pedalboard and a Gigboard, I kept the Pedalboard. Here are the pros and cons. Helix, Pros: best build quality, best selection of effects (Not necessarily better, but more) A Mic Pre-amp which enables you to run guitar and vocals with different effects, switching both at the same time with one button -cool- A PC editor.. Cons: on the downside, it has too many options and you're constantly second guessing yourself, Amp bias? Valve Sag? who needs that? My real Plexi doesn't have them, ok, the service engineer might give the bias a tweak every couple of years, but I have no idea what it does.. I spent all miy time tweaking and I was never happy which is why I traded it for a Headrush, which has less to tweak but gets the results way faster. the Helix amp models don't sound as good as Headrush amps (to my ears, don't argue with me Helix owners, if you prefer them then you win!, my ears prefer the Headrush, it's not a competition) But for classic 60's 70's rock tones and feel the Headrush has it beat, for modern high gain metal tones you might prefer the Helix, but that's not for me.. Gigboard, you know what it does you have one.. worth it for the amp channel switching option that doesn't exist on the pedalboard. are the 4 buttons a limitation? That might get a fix in the next update (shhhh..) Pedalboard, I kept the Pedalboard because of the routing options, the alternate out is worth its weight in gold to me.. I use it recording for a clean re-amp signal, I use it live to send a post Amp pre IR signal to a power amp and 4x12, it's the best thing about the Pedalboard. The treadle is great, I can't see the point of adding an external treadle to the Gigboard, it gets almost as big as the pedalboard and no A/B indicator. As petty as it sounds. the 3 dials by the screen make editing much faster than the sliders on the screen, I never liked them.. and they are the reasons I kept the Pedalboard over the Gigboard Oh, and the internal PSU, I hate wall warts.. If you're looking for an upgrade the Pedalboard is more of a side grade, your rigs will all sound the same, you already know the OS.. the Helix will feel like an upgrade for about 2 weeks until you start missing the organic amp tone ;) the OS is fine on the Helix, it does the same things as the Headrush but in a slightly different way.. if it's an upgrade you're looking for I guess Fractal and Quad Cortex is where you should be looking, but I had a look at the Fractal operating system and no thanks, that doesn't look fun at all.. the Quad Cortex is the one that might tempt me once they've added a few more effects and the OS is slightly more mature. I'm always on the lookout for an upgrade, but the Headrush has a mix of simplicity and flexibility I don't see in any of the other units at the moment, I don't want to spend half my life tweaking, I want life to be as simple as it is when I use a real amp and pedals.. and that's the Headrush for me. There, no help at all. :)
@@MuckingAboutWithMyHeadrush You may think it wasn't but I promise it is an enormous piece of advice... I actually bought the expression pedal and yes, it is true that it may not look like a great thing added to the GB but it has saved me more than once, specially like you use it on the "one treadle to rule them all" video (which I ended up seeing because of youtube recommendations since I am a huge GvF fan... a bit crazy isn't it?)... The problem I find now is that the GB can't fulfill my necessities specially talking about features, (mainly because of the footswitches... you have to either choose preset mode or stomp mode, the other ones are almost useless in my humble opinion), that is the main reason I want to go for a Helix or, now looking more probable thanks to you, a PB. Thank you very much, it really means a lot... and by the way, I'm also aware of what's coming hehe, any advice you can give me on the GB is still welcome!
PS I TOTALLY agree with your opinion on the sounds of the HR and Helix... To me Headrush sounds better until we get to Mesa Boogies and Soldanos stuff (although the Headrush SLOs are one of the most versatiles I've heard, definitely worth checking out if you struggle to get good Marshall sounds)

Happy to help! Now watch the gapless switching video for the down side of presets :) they're no good for amps and distortions..
Can't wait for more videos 👌👌
I've been working on one for ages about all the ways to connect the HR but I keep finding new ways to present it so I start again!
