There need to be NIL contracts and when you sign one, you have to stay at the school unless your coach leaves college football sucks right now there needs to be salary caps on positions
When education does not matter, there is very little reason to remain loyal to a school. Sadly, fans years ago got far too comfortable with the lie that it was OK for players not to study or meet any real academic standards. Once school doesn’t matter, it just comes down to business decisions. If football players don’t really value academics, then it’s just who offers the most money. College football isn’t the same when the college part is removed.
The true Trojan players going forward will likely by and large be the role players, very good players themselves but not “superstar” level. It will be interesting to see how public universities justify hundreds of millions of dollars being spent to field men's basketball and football teams. This whole thing is spiraling out of control. I guess if the revenues offset the expenses its ok. But something tells me this is quickly reaching a breaking point.
Xavier Griffen is as good as gone. If he’s already taking visits, don’t expect him to stay committed to a school, across the country, over a year from now.
@@sowayouttoast4823 He said at the Navy All American Bowl practice that while he’s locked in with USC, he’s going to be taking visits in the Spring and Fall of 2025. It's hard to blame Coach Lincoln Riley if he ends up going 6-6 record. The current college football landscape is characterized by a new problem: let’s be honest, the loss of most top talent will leave for the highest bidder. In the past, loyalty and commitment were valued, but now with the emergence of NIL it's a completely different game. No wonder Coach Saban decided to leave. He probably saw this mess coming and wanted nothing to do with this disaster. The part that is frustrating/confusing with Pregnon is that he is jumping in the portal.......I think most SC fans could understand if he said "sorry, I changed my mind about the NFL draft, it's too good of an opportunity" but instead he decides to go to another school? The other frustrating part of this to me is that I've gotten to the point that I just don't trust this staff (Riley mainly) when it comes to anything concerning roster construction
Marc, is there such a thing as college commitment anymore? The half life of a recruit is now 1 year. The Pros are committed by contract and union agreement. Need same in college. When?? Until then, the recruiting scheme of "living in the past," is dead in 2025....
I would've been fine with EP leaving for the NFL as originally thought, but he came back and signed a new NIL to return,it hurt our depth we would've retained because he was returning? Allegedly he lied.
Every year we are recruiting more players, therefore, the existing players have to be sure they’re well situated ($$). Football has a very short half life. They must optimize their options. After all, they’re in college…to get ahead or trying to. When money is involved, things naturally get complicated. Things will sort themselves out eventually.
LA has the Superbowl in 2027, the Olympics in 2028, Hollywood, Beaches, LeBron, Chargers, Rams, Dodgers, etc. AND USC CAN'T CONVINCE 18-23 YEAR OLDS TO COME TO USC? We need to get a GM and Recruiting apparatus that knows how to connect to young people. Assume the $$$ is at par with all other top 25 schools......we can't sell USC? Ridiculous.
This NIL thing is really just unrestricted free agency run amok…if we are completely honest, we should just say, player so and so was paid, a (cough) bonus (bribe) to transfer to name your university. Each year the player can sell himself to the highest bidder. So this season he picks a large bag of cash, and big chest of Nike gear and shoes. Next season he picks up a new Dodge Charger Hellcat and a hot Southern Girlfriend while developing a bit of an accent and gaining 20 lbs from a diet totally different from the Pacific Northwest. Rinse and repeat. Might be a great deal for the players, not so much for fans. Some structure/regulation is needed ASAP. Just my opinion. ✌🏻
Sulkin Kulkin get over it . Every player is for sale to the highest bidder. College degrees don't mean squat to high school athletes nowadays. 3-4 % make it to the NFL so they're looking now for the cash . Sad

Yes, money is wasted on developing him so he can take his services to another school. I believe they get paid monthly but they do have to fulfill certain obligations.
its about playing on a .500 team.. these kids want the bag but they also want to be on a relevant team.. one thats got a chance to play for a Championship.. with the top of the Big10 locked up with Oregon, Penn St, Ohio St, Mich. Indiana,,.. USC will never see a Championship game and therefore never see a playoff game.. these kids want a "chance" at least.. there is NO chance at USC...
Nothing surprises me with this program, I’ve come to expect the worst, the culture created has shown me it’s the norm. What surprises me is when others are surprised, good luck to EP, he knows his worth and been a dog in the trenches. He paid his dues and earned the right to choose to make them bags 💰💰 and most importantly win. We obviously can’t pay players their worth and we certainly aren’t favorites to win the conference yet alone any playoffs 🤷🏽
Marc What can we say . The 2025 team is looking worse than 2024 . It is hard to believe that USC invested in Riley , the defensive coaches a new 200 million dollar facility and we are a third rate Nil collective and Ca recruiting program . It makes no sense . Unless they pull a rabbit out of a hat , 2025 looks like a mediocre season at best . We loose 21 players - at least 6 we needed to keep and two really needed to keep ; Joyner and Pregnon and we have only got 6 . Only a three that can start . We are getting running backs where we need now Ol players who can start . Another QB1 or to give competition to Jayden , and he might leave . Linebackers, still some safeties. I know this is fluid but we are only getting a downgrade in incoming players and not filling the needed positions . Where is the money we are saving on the 21 who are gone. This whole thing looks like a second rate effort we look like a UCLA or Cal. Not a program trying to make the playoffs. I’ll wait until we suit up next year , but so far this looks like a program In disarray and going no where . Your thoughts ?
In addition we are too thin with linebackers. With the big ten football we need depth on the OL, DL and linebackers . Plus we need a competent consistent QB. We only have two QBs , one who will loose us more games with turnovers and a rookie .
Oh please match whatever market is for this guy . Find some nil money from second and third stringers let them walk pregnon if healthy the difference of two games next year obviously the pay raise was NOT competitive . THIS IS S BUSINESS . What I DO detect is the entire media industry built around a college team is fundamentally threatened the closer we get to a pro team . Why should any college grad follow support a semipro team that’s mediocre when can u root for pros and competence on say chargers andNOT get hit up for donations??
Yeah well now with everyone getting paid the SEC and Georgia won't make championship gave every year. Those days are over and who will throw him the ball? Gunner Stockton? 🤣 🤣
Well he said the brotherhood at Georgia the coaches ability to develop players and get them ready for the pros and a chance to compete for a national title .... Maybe it's a locker room issue with USC or something we don't know about

Need some type of contract that can take the NIL back if they leave after excepting the $.
College football is leaving a bad taste. But fight on we will ✌️
If he made a new deal then changed his mind did we waste money on him? Obviously today's players don't sign binding contracts but are the NIL payments typically divided into monthly or biweekly payments? Signing bonus? Can players essentially get NIl from two schools simultaneously?
Yes, money is wasted on developing him so he can take his services to another school. I believe they get paid monthly but they do have to fulfill certain obligations.
C’mon y’all we got that tailback the #1 Juco what thunder and lightning 5.0 possibly.
@Mr Marc Kulkin Fight On ✌🏽
its about playing on a .500 team.. these kids want the bag but they also want to be on a relevant team.. one thats got a chance to play for a Championship.. with the top of the Big10 locked up with Oregon, Penn St, Ohio St, Mich.
No rules means Wild West, agents rule
I look for Peterson to transfer
DJ's pass protection grades are not good
I imagine American Peterson will leave
This - so far - does not look promising
Marc
What can we say .
Beg to differ, this years team looks more promising. Let’s wait for until we sign all the new additions.
How are we more promising . The QB no , the OL - no , the CBs - no . The only improvement I see is the DL and tight ends .
In addition we are too thin with linebackers. With the big ten football we need depth on the OL, DL and linebackers . Plus we need a competent consistent QB. We only have two QBs , one who will loose us more games with turnovers and a rookie .
@@danberman6848adding that we still don’t have a LB Coach.
There is no true nothing anymore
Welcome to new mercia 😢
I no longer care, quit watching nfl,
F… em all.😂😂
💯🌈🤡🌎. 🤷🏿♂️
💤💤💤💤 Please wake me up on 8/30/2025 at game time 💤💤💤💤!!!
Maybe the Branch brothers want to play for a national championship? USC has never made the playoffs, unlike Georgia
We are not losing nothing with the branch brothers going to Georgia
Yeah well now with everyone getting paid the SEC and Georgia won't make championship gave every year. Those days are over and who will throw him the ball? Gunner Stockton? 🤣 🤣
Well he said the brotherhood at Georgia the coaches ability to develop players and get them ready for the pros and a chance to compete for a national title .... Maybe it's a locker room issue with USC or something we don't know about
Zach was given lots of opportunities, he’s was a great returner his freshman year, but nada this past season. I don’t know how many passes he dropped…but it was a lot. I hope he comes around, but wouldn’t bet any money on it.
@@monstamack93 Players use coach speak too. Let's not pretend that Zachariah didn't get the most touches at his position but performed the lowest. Zion has dealt with injuries since he arrived, and when he was on the field he was a liability in pass coverage.
Good luck to them. But USC has done pretty damn good putting WRs and DBs into the league.
