  • MAPS is a non-profit organization developing medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana. We are currently seeking funding in support of MAPS’ mission to make psychedelic therapy a legal treatment around the world.
    * Give the gift of healing: maps.org/give *
    In MAPS’ completed Phase 2 trials with 107 participants, 56% no longer qualified for PTSD after treatment with MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, measured two months following treatment. At the 12-month follow-up, 68% no longer had PTSD.
    Based on these results, the FDA granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation to MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD in August 2017. By granting Breakthrough Therapy Designation, the FDA has agreed that this treatment may have a meaningful advantage and greater compliance over available medications for PTSD.

      Oregon is going to offer it sometime this year or early next, it's slowly becoming an acceptable form of therapy as research shows the possibilities. For now, ketamine therapy is the closest most can get professionally.

    I just had the most profound breakthrough in an mdma session I only partook in as a way to feel slightly less depressed for a while. I'm a long term sufferer of a dissociative disorder called depersonalization/ Derealization Major depressive disorder and Bpd (borderline personality). For the first time in 10 years I got a glimpse of reality seen from the point of view of the body and how I felt like I was in control not because I felt the need to repress something but I started feeling like my old self. Things were making sense to me for the very first time in all these years. And the tears just I started balling my eyes out in joyous gratitude and glory. Because when you're stuck in your head all the time you stop feeling your body and with time that compulsive thinking detaches you from who you really are and given enough time you'll loose all self worth and empathy for yourself and I really struggle with self hatred but that all just came apart as it occurred to me that I don't have to hold on to all the negative stuff that piles up and obscures the being underneath. Sorry long comment, But let's just say I'm a firm believer in mdma and it's healing capabilities.

      Are you able to cry about childhood experiences? Cuz my feelings got stuck in childhood and I can't feel anymore and feel numb all the time, even if I remember all my painful experiences, I can only shed a tear or 2 and my feelings stay buried.

I managed to stay off drugs and alcohol for decades now, but I've been a walking wound for 30 plus years. Just in emotional pain all the time, 24/7. I'm willing to do anything at this point.

    I gave myself a concussion from a suicide attempt. I now have post conussion syndrome, severe asthmatic condition, and need to be diagnosed with PTSD. I've been to therapy for years. The pain has gone down about 30 per cent. But im still barely functional. Relationships with others are a nightmare and my abuser is my father. Im stuck at a crossroads. Go it alone, or try or be an immobile wreck in my families home.

    • @AlecTheStar
      @AlecTheStar 4 роки тому +2

      Your never alone. Never ever think that. There's always someone that you can talk to, friends partners, exc all come and go. But family is forever. Family will always be by your side, no matter what you do. They have a uncontrollable feeling of love towards you that will never go out.
      There's thousands of places you can go online to talk to people who are having similar problems to you, sometimes just talking while having a panic attack can withdraw some of the anxiety around it.
      There is an app called 'discord' it allows people to talk and chat. People can make servers and invite people to it exc. You can find hundreds of server dedicated to purely helping people work through things, and talk to someone else. The best part is that for the most part it's anonymous, you don't have to worry about people judging or calling you names. To be fair there are probably people working through similar things on there, just waiting to chat.
      Well enjoy man, and if you ever want to talk im here. Good luck with you situation, I know how life can get hard, but eventually little come right 👍🤙

The results from the studies in the Maryland institute back in the 50’s through the 70’s showed so much promise it kept its spark and now it’s being made available for healing.

    is it uncommon for mdma to create traumatic feelings for an extended period after a hard comedown/crash period? i think that happened to me about 10 years ago. i have used psychedelics since and they have helped me along a bit, provided me with optimism and insight. i have not used mdma tho in 9 years though, i have a lot of trepidation around it.

      There are ways to greatly reduce or even completely prevent the crash/comedown by taking the right supplements alongside MDMA. See Rollsafe.org for more info, backed by scientific studies. I would guess that the same or similar precautions are part of the clinical use context.

      There are currently some clinical trials going on at Johns Hopskins, General Mass, and 2 other major research hospitals. You can try to get on a list. And also MAPS will work to help get it FDA approved after the clinical trails price safety and efficacy.
      If you do it, try a therapy session with a trained guide, to help you understand and work through everything that comes up. You’re doing the work at that point and doing it alone could mean you end up having a bad trip and the experience has a negative outcome. I want psychedelics for motivation and anxiety and social issues. But I also have adhd and schizophrenia (and seasonal affective disorder and computer addiction (undiagnosed)). I am going to try whats legal but what interests me is mescaline because its effects sound like they would be more appropriate to me. I would love to try peyote because it has diverse alkaloids but, obviously I don't want nausea plus its illegal etc. Why not lsd- it can promote overthinking, which is basically my default anyways. Why not shrooms? Idk. Maybe they would be fine. I tried sublingualing salvia before, really anticlimactic. I tried pot, laughed alot then later minor anxiety laying down in bed with light closed eye visuals, but thats it. And I am trying some hawaiian baby rosewood seeds sublingual, I tried 3 (chew 30 minutes spit it all out to avoid nausea) last weekend and it did some jaw grinding sensation but I didnt oblige it and someone told me that magnesium can stop that so easy fix. But next weekend imma take all my electrolytes n stuff, then chew 6 because I didn't get any notable effect. I mean, its similar a little to lsd+beer they say but without visuals so may not be the best but eh. Its legal. And after that if thats anticlimactic imma try smoking salvia, or a larger dose of woodrose.
    But a problem I foresee is therapists abusing people to get repeat customers to keep their job, like how therapy already is, right. Plus selling the mdma themselves of course. I would feel alot safer if all this stuff were just plain legal, no gay(non-literal) therapy needed. Why trust others and put myself at risk. Though, thats just me being very frank, and its obviously related to my psych issues, there is a real world concern as well. But I do have swords and stuff here so, hopefully I don't get too weird with all my belongings lol. But hbwr and salvia have body highs so I doubt imma get too freaky.

    You need to study the weightloss effects of mdma which can be both a mental health medicine in which also has weightloss side effects for obese patients with low self esteem and possible ptsd from obese shamming and bullying. Mdma can serve as a catalyst to autophagy thru fasting by helping control appetite while also stimulating feel good chemicals to encourage fasting induced autophagy. Mdma fasting can promote hgh and is not counteracted by mdma. What make this a better weightloss/mental health med than other amphetamines is that they are less habit forming because of its psychedelic nature because when an amphetamine is addictive there is too much autophagy going on so much it’s eat up at brain, muscle, teeth and bones. This can also be prevented with proper nutrition and better dosing maybe for addicts if they need to continue self medicating how they choose. Ppl that are amphetamine addicts experience autophagy without any regeneration or giving their liver breaks also. As well as kidneys. Every amphetamine addict needs to carry a multivitamin. As same for those who will eventually use mdma for weightloss. Mdma will be prescribed to children just like they do adderall. This will be perfect for the chubby boys and girls out there desperate for a solution.

    Isnt this drug-assisted EMDR? Is MDMA a must? Thats what I'm asking myself, and if someone could respond and give me the reasons why its more effective than EMDR I'd appreciate it

    • @user-jw6yh4ev4n
      @user-jw6yh4ev4n 3 роки тому +1

      No it doesnt use EMDR. It is also more effective, often people need just one or two sessions

    Isn't there a question mark over MDMA? It's been suggested that it may cause minor brain damage. Specifically, ablation of the dendritic spines... This is just a query, and I should say I'm not at all opposed to the use of psychedelics for psychotherapy (quite the opposite, in fact, as I have myself had deeply healing and transformative experiences with an ayahusca analogue).

      Ablation of dendrites, lol...
      I can just picture millions of MDMA molecules with little sandpaper molecules (between 60 grit and 220 grit, perhaps?), Ablating away at ones network of dendrites and whatnot...

      MDMA can cause brain damage when abused but. Very, very little - no brain damage is caused when MDMA is used responsibily. Especially In a therapeutic setting like this. Taking MDMA under 6 times a year with 2 month breaks at least and under 200mg doses won't cause your brain any noticeable harm (if there is even any).

    Well the name is a bit tragic. Your good works with be over shadowed the the "pedophile" community. Sorry folks, can't say i'd blame you for changing the name "MAPS". Once again, bad people fucking it up for everyone else.
