Absolutely. I have tried for years to find out who the singers are. Was disappointed that that version wasn’t on the soundtrack. So amazing and moving.
I found this movie on VHS many years ago and finally found the digital Movie CD here on You Tube. To my shock, they didn't telease this song preformed by the original cast. The CD did include the version sung by Michael Bolton. Wished they would've included both as I really love this song (and the movie).
If any movie deserved a Blu-Ray Special Edition, it is this movie. I wish the soundtrack had this version and not just the Michael Bolton version. I saw this in the theater when I was 13. A commentary and documentary would be great. Everyone is so moved. It seems like Lorraine Bracco and Patti LaBelle are really feeling it!!!!!
if you look up Sarafina One More Time sung by James Ingram this is the closest version I have been able to find. Also Romance is one of my top 5 favorite songs! Be safe and healthy. XO
Thank you Mr. Jilette a million times for this. I'm 63 yrs. old. I introduced my kids to this movie and song when they were about 12 and 13. The mid '90's. They fell in love with it right off. I was thrilled to tell them today, I had found it. We all were crying on the phone together. My sons and my daughter. And they're all in their 30's now, lol. I had been looking for this song on here for about 2 yrs. Couldn't find it, gave up. Found it today. I had it on VHS. But somebody stole it about 10 yrs.ago. We're all musicians, so we really appreciate wonderful music like this. Thank you again for putting this on UA-cam. I got it forever now.
Me and my brother would watch this scene and sing along with it. I mean we weren't pros like them but we loved this song. He's no longer with us but it brings back good memories :)
I rewatch this clip every so often. It reminds me of my mom. When I was a kid, she made me watch this movie a few times and as I got older the story and scenes hit me with more of an impact. These days I wish they’d rerelease the movie on digital so I could share it with my family. Such an underrated film.
I doubt anyone reading this will overstand the significance of this scene and song. This song helped shape who I am. It amazes me how much truth they told us but we didn’t have the skill set to read the signs. They purposely dumbed us down but our ancestors never tired and we’re patient with us. I am so grateful. This song saved my life when I was in some of my darkest moments. I knew something deep down that said keep fighting never let them win by stealing your love away. Then I realized I won because I could love despite all the cruel trauma I endured. I didn’t let bitterness eat me alive. I achieved enlightenment but because of social engineering and medical genocide I doubted my worth and integrity. It’s sad to know you have a global Kabbal out to wipe you out because you became your best self! That’s crazy! Then to realize your own family are agents like Anderson with no problem attacking a disabled widowed single mom out of spite & jealousy. Yet, I still rise. I thank my ancestors throughout the day. I never realized how differently I viewed the world from many. This society is violent and unsustainable which means the people are expendable. This play was a call for help but so few actually grasped that! Thank Goddess for Debbie Allen!
Just randomly woke up at 3:33am, had a dream with this song in it, couldn't remember what film it was from so after an hour of half awake searching, here it is.
Dude for like a decade I thought I'd imagined this movie. THank you for making sure I knew it wasn't in my imagination. Now if only I could find a good video of Life Ain't worth Living, too.
+Carrie Krouse Do the dvds have other languages or are they only in english? We are german and my mother loves this movie. She had it on a videocassette but we don't have it anymore...
It's criminal! Wonderful movie and GREAT songs!!! Should have been a huge hit! Even more criminal that the movie version of the song "One More Time" was not put on the soundtrack since it's 10 x better than Bolton's!

I love the hope that this song evokes. It's one of those songs that can touch a person deeply through the melody and the lyrics. My favorite 80's musicals. I wonder when they are going to bring this show to broad way.
Funny thing is, I've never seen this whole movie, just this scene and this song has stuck with me for years! Anytime I catch this movie on T.V. it's always this scene. I was at work today I thought of this song after a long time and I had to find it lol. I didn't even know Michael Bolton sung this. I just now found out the name of this movie lol. It goes to show you how powerful a scene or song can be.
I saw this at the movie theater the weekend it opened. After, drove to my fav Music outlet, purchased the soundtrack and played the hell out of it :) When the movie was released on VHS bought that as well. One of the most underrated musicals. Pure entertainment with a message that endures all time. If you don't get goosebumps, you're not living!!
I saw this movie when I was 24 and recuperating from a lung operation. I have to tell you, I’m 46 now and It STILL had me crying and gave me goosebumps. I’m going to watch it again with my kids tonight.
The record companies always go with who they think will sell more records ,CDs etc. A lot of soundtrack hits will be stolen by famous singers who step in and take the song re-record it and the ones who sing the soundtrack will lose out. Even when they may be famous too.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the studio during the recording of this song. So much raw emotion. They definitely should have released this as a single. Gene Miller is awesome.
Ah, I remember watching this many times when I was a kid. This is one of my favorite scenes of this movie. Would be nice if there was an electric guitar cover in of this song, personally lol :-)
I really wish it were possible to get a studio quality copy of this performance. The OST has Michael Bolton singing but in the film it's sung by Gene Miller and I prefer the film version to the Michael's to be honest.

Why didn’t they have this version on the soundtrack?😡
The official soundtrack was almost as big a travesty as the fact that this movie never got a DVD release.

@anettos Its a awesome Movie I have seen it many times
We'll remember and we'll all sing
One more time
This was an awesome ending to a wonderful movie and how true to facts/reality and Very possible for our schools across our country closing
Don't look back
Don't be scared
We've got dreams and we're still young
Just think about how far we've come
Think of all
We have shared
It's a wonder we survive
But here we are and we're alive!
Can we hold on, hold on?
Take a moment to celebrate
Now before we are gone
Take a moment to celebrate
There's music in the wind
Let's dance one more time
There's a rhythm deep within
Let's dance one more time
One more time
Sing the song
There's a power in our voices
Hopeful and strong
Years from now
Somewhere down the line
We'll remember and we'll all sing
One more time
