I enjoyed watching that
Thank you
Extremely helpful - thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
fantastic video, thanks.
Appreciate that!
Thanks!
Of course!
This is actually a four light set up, key light, fill light, hair light and back floor bottom right corner light. Your wide knowledge of lights is impressive.
Appreciate that! Yes there are actually multiple accent lights in the back, but for most people starting out a 3-point lighting setup will go a long way!
Thanks
Glad it helped!
This is the most direct and informative video! Thank you! I’m trying to get the lighting right on our videos, but we are far from The subject and are also dealing with fluorescent lighting within the room. I know we need to get a diffuser for our key light (we currently have the GVM 3 lighting kit. Any suggestions?? Thank you!!
Appreciate that! I'm a fan of any Aperture Light Dome like the SE or II, or the lantern style diffuser. And I would try turning off the fluorescents entirely and adjusting the camera to just the key / fill / hair lights for a more natural look!
@@Riversidefm thank you! Do you think that could with the subject about 20 feet away? We have a very different setup but just trying to work with what we got.
You spoke so well - were you reading from a teleprompter app?
Not during this video!
Great video with very helpful advice! What are the panels on the wall in the background? I’m assuming that these are there to improve the sound in the room?
Yes! Those are sound panels from GIK Acoustics
Loved this video thank you very much, I have a couple of questions; if I buy both neewer lights and set them both at a 45% angle but obviously the key light closer like you said and the fill light further how high should I set them compared to my face? And do they both need an external soft boxes or defusers around it? If so which ones are budget friendly pls? And for my hair light can i use a Normal ring light? Also s it a must? Or can I just skip that and maybe use coloured led lights as accent lighting could that be enough?
Thanks! We would set them 45 degree to the left or right and slightly above your head angles downward. You'll need to experiment on the look to get it precise. Softbox is always recommended, and this is actually a great pack with two lights and soft boxes included. Hair light can wait if you're using accent lights behind you: amzn.to/3XfnUsf
Should probably turn that hair light up a bit 😇
Yeah, wanting to upgrade it to be honest 😉
Loved the video! For someone who is bald, what do you suggest to cut down on the glare that appears on top of the head. Even with different lighting sources/temperatures, there seems to be a shiny appearance.
Good question, have you tried different softboxes like the Light Dome II or lantern? You may need to experiment with different angles for the light and see how it affects the glare.
So helpful!
One question, what do you think of the Lume Cube ring lights? Are a good option for creator or is it better to get three different lights?
Ring lights can be helpful, but are usually harsh and don't offer soft, even lighting. If you have a ring light, try throwing a white pillowcase or sheet over it and move away from the light to help soften the look!
Am I able to use the Elgato light for both the fill light and key light? I like your desk set up with both of those?
You can for sure, I use the Elgato lights for fill and hair light, but Amaran 200x with Light Dome II for my key light
Where do I get those panels in the background? I LOVE them!
GIK Acoustics! www.gikacoustics.com
@@Riversidefm thank you! Did you paint yours white? I don’t see an option on the site for the white finish.
but what about podcasts with mulitple people in it?
A key light per person and one hair light far enough away pointing at both guests would be great! But really the two key lights do a lot of the work.
Diffusion is NOT your top priority. The position of your key light is the top priority.
Monitors don't reflect light - they EMIT light.
