Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes on the SNS Travel Kettle!

  • See how we made 4 incredible crab cakes on the Slow ’N Sear Travel Kettle! What a great meal and easy to do!
    • Started with 1 pound jumbo crab meat and used the recipe below.
    • Set up the SNS Travel Kettle for indirect cooking.
    • Lit the charcoal in the Slow N Sear to hold around 350F degrees.
    • Placed the crab cakes on the indirect side.
    • We checked them out when it got to around 110 and flipped them.
    • When the crab cakes reached 165F Degrees, we pulled them off and enjoyed
    Recipe that I used:
    • 1 large egg, beaten to blend
    • 1/3 c. mayonnaise
    • 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
    • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tbsp. hot sauce
    • Kosher salt
    • Freshly ground black pepper
    • Very hot pepper grind
    • 1 lb. jumbo lump crabmeat, picked through
    • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
    • 2 tbsp. parsley

    • Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk egg, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire, and hot sauce; season with salt and pepper.
    • Step 2: In a medium bowl, mix crabmeat, panko, and parsley. Fold in egg mixture, then form into 4 patties.
    • Step 3: Placed on grill and cooked to 165F degrees. Flipped once at around 120F Degrees.
    Summary: This was a learning experience on doing crab cakes on the grill, but worked out pretty nice! These were excellent and the added spice was a nice add!

    Here in Ontario Canada winter has arrived ! I just put my SNS Travel Kettle away in the basement for the winter. Sorry to say I will be grilling on my Napoleon Gas BBQ until spring, I will be living through your videos for the winter.

      Always a tough call when you have to give into old man winter! Our winters in PA are not as cold as where you are, but I find myself using the gasser much more than I used to! I just did some long personal cooks on a 14lb ham and a 14lb pork shoulder to fill the freezer with meals getting ready for our winter as well! We have a stripped bass cook on the Travel Kettle coming out in the next month or so! Thanks as always! Cheers!
