Now I'll try undervolt with curve scan. Trying to find my bottle neck. It may be my RAM rather than my GPU
Definitely with 3600Mhz RAM and 1800Mhz FCLK you'd get more out of it. Still, strictly for gaming and not for benchmarking, I think your best bet would be to Undervolt both the GPU and CPU, the 1660S as shown in the vid and the 3600 to around 4Ghz static!
Buddy, be careful, because there are no temperature sensors on the memory banks of the 16th line of NVIDIA graphics cards. Chips can get warm, and you won't notice, because this statistics is not output, because there is simply no temperature sensor that would track temperature changes on memory banks. Also, those who do not have this sensor are advised to monitor the "Hottest point of the video card", somehow it is called that, although it shows the temperature increased directly, I tend to get plus or minus truthful information, you need to take an additional -10 degrees Celsius away from the current value of this sensor. Also, if it's not a secret, can you tell if you serviced your video card before overclocking, whether you put thermal pads on the memory chips of the video card and from which vendor do you have a video card?
@@paparealist I never serviced my 1660S other than cleaning the dust off fans. I didnt put thermal pad on memory chips, is that easy to do? I have asus tuf overclocked with dual fans. Pretty new at this stuff, my question for the gpu runs with undervolt i need to keep afterburner open or it will stay that way after i set it up? Thanks
Yooo, this saved me! I was planning to play Baldur gate 3 but my temps were too high (around 80C to85C) and this has decreased the temps to 72 C on medium graphics!
so under volting for different versions of the GTX 1660 might be good while some just make it worse like for me I have a GTX 1660 ti by gigabyte and I did a comparison of a over clock thing I had and I did this tutorial as well I did see a huge difference. The tutorial one get a 1931 score with the average 74 fps and the lowest 19 fps and did around 101 WATTS and temps were 59C , while as mine did 2100 score and average 90 fps and lowest 38 fps and did 140 WATTS and temps were 61C. So under volting might work very well for some other cards like just the bare GTX 1660 or maybe the gtx 1660 super but for the TI it really does not. by the way this was on max settings for unigine benchmark. The settings for my over clock is on EVGA precision X1, clock is 160+ and voltage is at max, memory is 200+ clock, and power is at 123%. Also If you are having problems with temps I would get fan control and setup a custom fan curve or just use like MSI afterburner but fan control can also do CPU fan if the motherboard can do that. all and all if you want a simple way to keep the noise down for a pre built or something or you are on a budget I do like the tutorial.
You’ll get better 1% lows and better frame stability, overall a better experience. You can also aim for around 2000Mhz on the core with 950/975mV and actually get the most possible FPS so yup, much better way imho!
Hello friend, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Before the undervolt I had a 1660 SUPER GPU at 74ºC at 1890Mhz and 1040mV. Now with Undervolt I have 68ºC at 1890Mhz and 925mV. I originally have 1800MHz @950mV (86C-87C), I set it to 850mV but temperature only dropped to 83C. Do you think it is safe if I drop the mV more? Say, 700mV-800mV?
you didnt unlock temperature fixes via settings. Check to settings tab in afterburner . Other saying : when you reduce your mv without unlocking temp fixes it automates your whole system to adapt it , thats forcing to overclock your cores and it heats and overworks again
Please i have been looking for a answer everywhere do I need to have msi afterburner open on startup or have it open all the time in general for all the setting to stay?
You need it open on startup, the settings will then last until you turn off your PC. Setting it to start with windows and to stay minimized is what I usually recommend!

Dude thank you so much my you temperature dripped from high 80s to 65-70 and my fps increased from 85 to 117fps also I just can't believe it thank you so so much ❤️💕🙏🙏

first of all great tutorial also a bit late but does afterburner still work after closing it or does it need to be running in the background for it to take effect?

Hello @ImWateringPSUs i follow your Step my Gigabyte Gtx 1660S got 1860-1905mhz Stress test, so ill use 1860mhz with 875mv and its run okay, Im confused if ill go for 900mv? thinking that 875mv is low for 1860mhz? thanks for reply..
Doing the lord's work
Thanks bro.
tested on gigabyte gtx 1660super oc
temperature good on gaming and now with your settings
Old temp 76-79
Now 69-67
Test on Battlefield 2042/warzon 2.0 /forza horizon 5

effects on your fps?
Thanks a lot, my Gainward 1660 Super went from 120W to 100W and stopped running like a vacuum
Can you make a video showing the fps difference in any game of stock and your undervolt settings ?
You can expect about a 5% gain on average, the REAL gain is gonna be the better .1% lows
this video is adhd friendly thanks man
I have a g1660super in the MSI 6GB gaming edition, it does what is shown in the video, but the mV increases instead of decreasing. However, the power consumption level does not change and everything is as it was.
How does this work? I thought undervolting means underperforming. But it doesn't underperform at all. Very helpful thank you
hello do I need to do this everytime I open my pc or it automatically saves without me opening it again each time?
zotac 1660 super
900 volt
1890 clock to 1950
7000 mem to 7500
~83ºC to ~75ºC
That’s REALLY good!
hello my friend, hug from brazil. thanks!!!
thank you so much dude, before doing your method i get 85 celcius full load, but now the highest temperature i get is 67 celcius and more power efficient
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :)
that's a weird graph, not sure how it works. It shows a celling for MHz (that it not gonna go above 1920) not mV, or mV are derived from MHz?
its so fast but its already in my head haha thx for the vid!
great...my asus oc 1660ti reduce temp from 75-80 to 60-65
nice bro...fps still maintain
Pretty new at this stuff, my question for the gpu runs with undervolt i need to keep afterburner open or it will stay that way after i set it up? Thanks
You need to have it running minimized!
@@ImWateringPSUs Just to clarify here, setting msi afterburner to startup with windows is not enough?
Yooo, this saved me! I was planning to play Baldur gate 3 but my temps were too high (around 80C to85C) and this has decreased the temps to 72 C on medium graphics!
Glad it was helpful and I really can’t thank you enough for the detailed feedback!
Thank you. pretty easy and great results.!

good video mo gtx 1660 ti in ratchet and clank it reached 75 degrees now it not only consumes less but it managed to drop almost 15 degrees to the gpu
Glad it was helpful and I really can’t thank you enough for the detailed feedback!
I have really good cooling should i undervolt i dont think ill get sny performance gains. Should i instead follow your overclock tutorial
so under volting for different versions of the GTX 1660 might be good while some just make it worse like for me I have a GTX 1660 ti by gigabyte and I did a comparison of a over clock thing I had and I did this tutorial as well I did see a huge difference.
Overclocking obviously will give out better performance, but UVing is the more efficient, cooler and less jumpy option!
@@ImWateringPSUs yeah this is true
Will I gain more FPS from undervolt ing or overclocking? In your overclock video you suggested undervolt ing to be better.
You’ll get better 1% lows and better frame stability, overall a better experience. You can also aim for around 2000Mhz on the core with 950/975mV and actually get the most possible FPS so yup, much better way imho!
@@ImWateringPSUs my settings are overheating. I have a 1660ti and i7 cpu. What should my range be for voltage?
Hello friend, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Before the undervolt I had a 1660 SUPER GPU at 74ºC at 1890Mhz and 1040mV. Now with Undervolt I have 68ºC at 1890Mhz and 925mV. Could you tell me if an almost constant consumption of 98% of the GPU in Microsoft Flight Simulator could harm or decrease the life of the graphics card, if so, what alternative would you give me?
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! No worries, the GPU won’t suffer from it :)
1915мГц 0,850мВ
Hello, why do you lower the curve by -200 when others set the curve up first before flattening the curve in other undervolting vids? Thank you!
If you get it higher first, you will overclock the curve in the lower part, potentially causing instabilities
Someone said when undervolting is not good simultaneously with increasing the memory clock 500+? Will it really reduce GPU usage time? Is there an alternative, for example just adding a memory clock of 100+?
i cant download benchmark heaven everytime i click the download link it just says the page didnt could not respond, its not my internet cuz i can do everything else and download anything else, i have even tried switching browsers do you know a solution
Hello, i have same gpu & i tried the same settings given in the video (925-1920) but apparently my gpu rarely exceed 1870 mhz, Any advice to do on this situation.?
I got a problem before i did any anything my MHz on default is 1530 but when i undervolted exactly the same as you did in the video my MHz remained 1530 the number didnt go up, Why is that?
Thanks for such a great tutorial. Got mine GPU stable with -5 C, 925/1965 and +500 memory clock. But I'm not shure, is it good result? Or 900/1935 and +500 will be better in terms of perfomance?
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave some feedback! :) I’ve also got a few build videos on the channel and more coming, if you like the content consider subscribing as it really helps me a lot!
That’s a great result, no need to change it
DO NOT overclock your gpu while undervolting wattage. Your processor cells shortens their lifetime and even could phsically damage due to overworking. Just turn to factory values back and try again to undervolt !
I have the same graphics card, and the first time it worked flawlessly now it just crashes everytime
Hello! I followed your settings at the beginning (925mv / 1920mhz + 500 Memory Clock ) and tested it out ingame and im seeing my core clock stabilizing at 1890mhz when the card is just 60c... any help? or is that normal
That’s normal! Great job there!
Does undervolting decreases gpu lifespan ?
ty unvolted my 1650 super ! stable and eco friendly !
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :)
my mhz is 1545 and the volt is 787mv and the temp 85 c when i run furmark is that normal?
Hello, on your computer at what temperature does it remain during the game?
Around 70C, but it depends on the fan curve! Undervolting lowers your temps tho
I did this exact tutorial but my voltage went up by 100, does anyone knows why?
my gpu is Nvidia GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X , i did same thing as it's shown in the video so should i be fine? MHZ went up to 1935 and mV to 925 which i guess is better
Yes it will be fine!
@@ImWateringPSUshey its me again, so i have reinstalled windows, undervolted my gpu again with same parameters but now every time i shut down or restart my pc it resets the undervolt settings to default
well turns out i had to click save config on startup to keep undervolting but another thing is when i set it 1920 on 925 , it sometimes changes to 1935 on 925
@@JjustMero i have the same gpu and experienced the same thing
I had it set to 1920 but it moved to 1935 too
I just did it today, how about you, did it go smoothly?
@@manofculture274 hey, i tried to re undervolt it while gamimg and sometimes while browsing and a miracle happened, it stayed since then. Check if you have your videocard drivers up to date and try to undervolt it while gaming, but don't forget to reset the custom one. for the best shot restart your pc after you reset the custom curve and undervolt it as soon as your gpu gets used.
Thank you dude!!!!!
My pleasure:)
Hello, I have had a problem for quite some time and I don't know how to solve it, it happens that when I am playing my PC loses image and the graphics fans speed up, I tried cleaning the ram memories with an eraser and the problem seemed to have been solved but now It's bothering me again, does anyone know what it could be? It happened out of nowhere, I never had this problem and I haven't changed anything on my PC
Thanks for the great info, buliding two computers for teens each with a 1660 super.
Great value right there!

Hello, I have a 1660s msi ventus xs oc and I undervolt it to 1950mhz with 875mv and everything is fine, the temperature does not go above 57 degrees but after a few minutes the core clock drops from 1950mhz to 1935mhz, why does this happen?
It means that either the power target or temperature target is reached. It's expected behaviour in the Turing architecture, unfortunately
@@ImWateringPSUs I'm having a same problem bro, Is it okay to just let it be set to 1950mhz but maxed out at 1935 or need to change from 1950mhz to 1935mhz?

Seria hermoso un tutorial de este mismo pero aplicando usando el programa GPU tweek III de asus
soo...what you recommend? overclocking or undervolting? its a big difference of fps between them?
Personally I prefer undervolting, overclocking does give you around 10% all the way up to 20% more fps though, but UV really increases frame stability
@@ImWateringPSUs ye,i tried both of them and with undervolting its more stable thanks!
i cant believe this worked, i have the same graphic card and the fucking coil whine was killing me, after this my GPU dont heat, i have great fps increase and no fucking noise !!!!! thank you so much dude !!!!!!!

How much watts is needed to power a gtx 1660 super ?
Do I have to leave msi after burner open all the time for this to work or can I close it ones I’m done adding those settings?
You should keep it minimized and set it to run with windows!
@@ImWateringPSUs ok thanks and this should work with the new mw2 and wz2
@@Marcus-op9kw Yes!
Hello bro! I did this undervolt on my GTX 1660S Asus TUF 3 but in the Furmark test its TDP still hits 120/125. Is this normal?
hope you answer this 😊
is increasing the clock memory (+500) just a like what you did , it is necessary?
and if i do it will it decrease my gpu lifetime?
It’s not necessary, it’s just to get a bit extra performance! It won’t decrease GPU lifetime!
@@ImWateringPSUs thank you so much !🙂
My doesnt even reach 900 it only uses 800 .. so nothing works. Do you know how to fix it?
You need gpu demanding programs to reach higher voltage
ihave 1660super but volt stays 0 is it okay or what pls tell me
In what wattage can you translate this? I don't know if that is answerable but considering 1660S is 125W, how significant this undervolting decrease it in numbers?
It could for sure get you to 100W and slightly under!
is 400w psu can run with gtx 1660 super has undervolting???
Yes!
even 300W would be enough after undervolting if you dont have some crazy powerhungry cpu like brand new i7
my voltage is zero on my 1660 super, can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with my GPU but i keep blue screening in game. temps seem to never stop rising either
Set it to 900mV 1800Mhz with no memory offset and you'll be good! Also you need to go into settings and enable voltage monitoring and voltage control!
mine was underbolted to 1775hmz 800v i get 63degrees in gaming warhammer40k in high setting 1920x1080 res.... before at default setting im getting at 84degrees in low setting in warhammer how that happened
It seems like magic but it’s simply the best way to run cards! I’m really happy it was helpful :)
I'm getting Temp's of 85-87deg.... what could be causing this?
Did you follow the tutorial? Which settings did you use specifically? Have you set a custom fan curve?
This is usually my gpu temp (GTX 1660 OC non super/Ti), Lmaoo after repasting the thermal paste it only went down to 82-83 deg.
@@aeuon2496 Have you tried following the tutorial?
Sorry, I forgot to add that those tempts were before I undervolted my gpu, thank you for the great tutorial!
@@aeuon2496 Oh that's really good! My pleasure :)
please do a tutorial on 2060S and 3060ti
I actually have one for the 3060 Ti and the 2060S shares the same settings as my 2070 one! :)
my gtx 1660 tuf gaming ( bad cooler design )at default settings it reach 1900mhz with 1.050mv 85°c than drop to 1785 83°C
but after undervolting i managed to get 1830mhz at 0.850mv, temps is 77°c max after 2h and 20min of gameplay
thanks ;)

Wow i should try this, thx for the information
I originally have 1800MHz @950mV (86C-87C), I set it to 850mV but temperature only dropped to 83C. Do you think it is safe if I drop the mV more? Say, 700mV-800mV?
I’d say to keep 1800Mhz the lowest safe spot would be around 825/800mV!
I cant open msi after burner whith heaven benchmark on the background. It minimizes the benchmarking app and the gpu runs back to 15% only
You need to uncheck the "full screen" option when launching heaven
Hello!
My gpu mhz at 1500 default and when i change it to 925mv the mhz remains the same and gpu temp goes to 85 86 on Furmark.
Any help?
you didnt unlock temperature fixes via settings. Check to settings tab in afterburner . Other saying : when you reduce your mv without unlocking temp fixes it automates your whole system to adapt it , thats forcing to overclock your cores and it heats and overworks again
Hey just wanted to reconfirm it wouldn't cause any BSOD or it wont reduce GPU's life ?
Reducing the life nope, bsod you need to test it out for yourself, but I gave very conservative numbers
@@ImWateringPSUs Yea I have tested it in some pretty intensive games .... no issues so far ... the numbers were really precise tysm

Ahahaha I am Italian indeed! But actually some of my family lived in Argentina for a while :)
Please i have been looking for a answer everywhere do I need to have msi afterburner open on startup or have it open all the time in general for all the setting to stay?
