    If you have a peep sight twisting problem, this video is to show you on of the ways how to fix a twisting peep sight to achieve proper peep sight alignment. It's easy to fix a twisting peep sight and can be done with a few minor adjustment. In some cases you may have a peep sight rotation problem, which may be because of tuning or low quality string. A few adjustments and you can eliminate your bow peep sight twisting problem. A Twisting peep sight can also be eliminated by using a peep sight with a tube, but prefer a tubeless peep sight.

    Great video, the string's bedded in on my first compound and the peep's twisted about 40 degrees to the right. I watched a bunch of videos about peep re-alignment and felt overwhelmed 'til I found yours. Thankfully I have access to a press at my club and a bunch of competent people to help me address the issue 😆
    Thanks for the replies to all the questions below, I now understand exactly what I need to do... No swapping strands or re-tying serving required 😉

    in the actual video,you twist the string to the right, away from you, toward the wall, but in the end of the video you desribe twisting it toward you, or toward the camera. so which was should you actually go? Imassuming twist the string in the direction you need it to go?

      Thanks for pointing that out Jared! My apologies that it was confusing. You are correct.....twist both ends of the string in the direction you need to rotate it to correct the peep and get it lined up.

    Hey, I’ve been shooting my bow quite a bit recently, and the string twisted. My peep sight is not how I want it to be, so I’m going to take it to the shop to fix it. Will anything they do to rotate the peep sight mess with my groupings on target? With deer season coming up I want to make sure I’m zeroed as possible and fixing the peep sight may delay that in my mind.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there! Generally, if all you are doing is rotating the string to get the peep aligned, it shouldn't mess up your tune. Depending 9n what the shop does though, any small adjustment or change in the tune can affect point of impact. Should be a quick move of your sight though if something does change on you.

  • @ronroberts8036

    You twisted both ends of the string 1/2 turn. Wouldn't that turn the whole string (and the peep) 180 deg?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Not necessarily. It seems to have a much smaller affect than that, but each bow may react a little differently. It's a bit a trial and error to find the sweet spot for your bow.

    I am using a peep sight with four string grooves and 0 degree to the string , definitely not ideal, but solve the problem quite well. The downside is that the peep sight becomes an oval rather than a circle.

  • @wrxified
    @wrxified 2 роки тому +1

    Dude I’m totally confused. I understand what you did. But what confuses me is turning both ends exactly a half turn the same way. Isn’t that the equivalent to just pulling the string and flipping it over? How does it not just flip the peep 180 degrees so it is now facing you?
    Am I over thinking this or missing something.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  2 роки тому

      Good question! Maybe overthinking it a bit😁. A half turn based on where the string attaches to the posts isn't a half turn of the string itself. I could definitely see your train of thought though! I'd say it's more like 4-6 half turns will rotate the peep about half way around.... something in that ballpark.

    • @wrxified
      @wrxified 2 роки тому +1

      @@BackwoodsPursuit Thanks for the response. I guess it wont hurt to try it out. I’m struggling with a peep that just started to rotate to the left slightly and want to fix it.
      Still my head is pounding thinking about how it’s not just flipping the bow string 180 degrees. Like I’m visualizing myself holding the bow string out in front of me. Let’s assume it has the right number of twists in. So I’m holding the left loop in my hand and I rotate it counterclockwise towards me 1/2 half a turn. Then I grab the right loop and also rotate it counterclockwise a half turn towards me. This doesn’t just flip the bow string 180 degrees?
      I’ve heard people say try to flip the string 180 degrees on one side or the other and that if you flip the top it has a bigger impact because it is closer to the peep. That makes sense to me. I just don’t get how flipping both ends 180 degrees doesn’t just turn the bow string the other way.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  2 роки тому

      @@wrxified yeah, go give it a try both ways and let me know what you find! Just be careful not to twist just one end of the string too much so you don't shorten or lengthen it. I'd be interested to hear what your results are! Thanks!

    Hi there. I see you're using the bowmaster mobile press. I'm keen to get one to be able to do some things at homeand when I'm hunting however, some people say the hooks jump off the limbs and then also Bowtech has issues with guarantees using these I've seen. I have the Realm X. Would you recommend it? Is it definitely safe?

      Yeah, if you need to rotate the string, you've gotta have a press in most cases. You can get a little bit of adjustment by rotating the D-loop. If it's close right now, that might do the trick. Worth a try anyway.
