No progression system is not a con / negative. It is a pro / positive strength of the game where you can just step in and play any mode, use any gun, with any attachment. This game is obsessed with weapon details and realism and your progression is tied to you learning how to use each weapon and get better at the game.
Aside that, which I realize is a subjective difference of opinion, great review. This game is a lot of fun.

Best game ever! The fact that there's no crouch button is my favorite part. You have to do the work if you want to be sneaky.
Absolutely love this game . Basically COD in VR which is amazing. Graphics are awesome and gunplay is fun. It can be a little hard , but as soon as you get used to it, becomes very enjoyable

Great review, and maybe the best value PSVR2 game right now. I can see myself dipping in and out of this game for a while to come. My one criticism is the tutorial can only go so far. For instance, there's nothing in game to tell you what all the roles do in TTT, what they are, how to use all those gadgets, what they are for, etc. Or how they can be an asset to one side or the other. It's all learned through word of mouth, searching the web & trial by error. These modes have gotten added over time to the pc version.
The best value has definitely got to be pistol whip. Endless fun, great music, accurate shooting and emulation. And above all else it's cheap.

I just picked up a PC and an Oculus in exchane for PSVR 2. If you ever do, try Pavlov on PC. The mod support makes you fall in love with PVP again.
They've uploaded all the old COD maps, you can play Black Ops 1 maps (Kino Der Toten included) with zombies, they even have a D-day map that extended to beyond Normandy. Def a game changer with mods

Great review but here are my issues. Pop in is more than once in a great while and happen on even small boards. Hit detection especially up close is poor. You will shoot someone point blank in center mass and it will not register at all. Spawns are crazy bad. You will spawn right infront of a whole team then respawn there twice more getting slaughtered immediately. The game is fun. Very fun. Once this goes cross play it will be hard to argue against getting it especially at cost. A few patches and this will be a great value but fix the hit detection And spawning.
Play in lobbies with lower ping & your shots will register. I have around 20-38 ping where others have over 300 because they are not using a lobby in their own country.

This turned out to be my favourite PSVR 2 title so far. The TTT mode is just hilarious and many times I've had to remove the headset from tears of laughter making everything blurry.
This has been my favorite PSVR2 game by far!

Edit: Without a Crouch Button, I can't play due to space restrictions and disability.
Like others said, it is also for me the most fun I had in vr. What I like it is that you can play it "Cod style" or "SWAT style" . What I mean by "SWAT style" it is that you can apply real life tactics in the way you clear rooms, the way you shoot, reload, cover etc. A lot of fun and replayability. Just wish there was the modded modes and maps from pc (didn't see any in the server list yet ). And for finish great review as always !
Do you think something like this could be a training tool?
For personnal purpose yes, but as an official tool for example law enforcement, I don't think it is appropriate. Like you use joysticks for deplacements, which is not a good way to learn realistically how to walk in real life to clear a place, engage threats, take cover, etc. Like i said you can apply real life tactics in the game and the weapon manipulations are pretty good for most of the guns, but in my opinion, it will never replace the real thing.
@@alexlafreniere2599 the military already uses simulations to train, I don’t think it’s meant to replace the real thing-more of a supplemental program…but you can pick up the basics, no?
Love this game. Most fun I've had playing VR since my first PSVR experience in 2019, and the PSVR2 community on the game has generally been super fun, rarely have seen a lot of rude people. Will be playing this one for a *long* time
It honestly was a little weird for me. The transition from pcvr pavlov to psvr2 pavlov but after a couple plays I love pavlov all over again. I've had more fun in the past week than I've had in a long time in that game.
No grinding just gaming
It's also one of the crispest looking psvr2 games, great clarity, really feels like a next gen title.
Great game. A few more medium sized maps would be great. Hopefully they can get us on their community servers in the future (which I believe is the plan).

I love the no progress XP deal. It means you can use all weapons from the start & someone who has been playing longer has no advantage in weapons because all because they unlocked better weapons. This game needs multiplayer target range so you can have competitions with others. OmegaBergs

For real! I've been playing it for a few days and I love how I don't have to think about grinding for anything. You know how some games feel like work, after a while? You don't get that with Pavlov. It's just fun all the way. At least from the 20h I've played.

It could do with a little customisation to help the longevity. Because right now you can't even choose what gun you use except in S&D
@@DanFarrell98 I'm guessing you mean "can't"? Because in most modes you can select whatever weapon and Loadout you want when you spawn and keep it for the entire match (or change it again next time you spawn). It's only random if you don't choose something.
Great review! Love to see modes like TTT and prop hunt living on after their GMod haydays, but now in VR and on a current generation game console too!

TTT being called like among-us when it’s existed for much longer made me feel old
TTT was added to Pavlov in 2021, Among Us has been around since 2018. Don't worry, we're all old here lol

Biggest plus for this game is the tracking. It works so absolutely well making you feel like you're really inside that world. All the other games I play had wonky tracking compared to this, or lower graphics, or unrealistic relative size of surroundings.
It really is the best game on PSVR2

Cosmetics would be the only thing I would want be added to the game to unlock. I love how you can just jump in and use every gun.
Like the look of the game but no interest in multiplayer or the social aspects so hoping for a single player fps

Why does this look better than when I play it with quest link pcvr
The game is great but I really hope the rumours are true and the workshop comes to psvr2 where you can play custom maps like the PC version. If it does then I think games like firewall and Alvo might have a hard time pulling players back to them
Once Contractors VR got mod support on Quest, all the other games slowly withered away. Mod support is so important.. Once a game has it, few days later we'll all be playing Call of Duty maps all day long, and loving it. CoD maps are sooooo good in VR!
My one complaint about Pavlov is the lack of a crouch button.
I'd love to play seated, because I can't stand for long periods of time on account of my arthritis... so if I play I'm either perma crouched or in a lot of pain standing for long periods.
But that aside I always have a blast when I play.

Some people use a bar stool to play. So you can sit in real life and still stand. And you can pick things up when necessary
This game is the best online shooter i ever played. The people are awesome particulary if you disable the crossplay with pc. The voice chat and specially the hand gestures are hilarious yet immersive. After small learning curve with weapons and finding your favorite weapon every1 can be decent player in pavlov. Even me im so proud i was #1 of the winning team of TDM today i had 2 superb matches. 45 kills 30 deaths. There are so many funny and memorable moments and the gunplay in vr2 is just so rewarding. 100x better than controller. And pavlov dont have crouch button so you need to get down on floor yourself. Today i literally sat behind a sandbag or something like that and it was an excellent trap at the bridge i was hugging floor. I usually have stiff back but "pranks" like these get the best out of me. Killed many enemies like that. The rifle with medium scope that cost like 2300 is the best one. Today i dropped it 2 times and both times my team member stole it and didnt give it back :d. Also the hand gestures when i played infection and i was the monster and teamed with other monstet player and the gestures were awesome. I did this hands on side shrug like showing i dont know what to do here(my first infecgion match and map) and he start doing these comedic hand gestures how i go up the stairs etc. Also the hand signals when you accidentally shoot your team mate are hilarious.
Cant believe how much better psvr2 is than playinh with flat tv and controller. Ofc i enjoy games like dead island 2 and Elden ring still but VR is where im the happiest and most emgaged.
It released later in Scandinavia. So when I got the game I already felt like I was way below everyone else in terms of skill. I kept getting stomped whatever I played, this is after I practiced for hours in the shooting range and against a friend. I had crossplay disabled as well. Haven't booted it up since.

Play offline against bots until you feel comfortable enough. Even the hardest difficulty is fairly easy in team deathmatch offline.
Played pavlov more than anything else yet on pvsr2, its lots of fun.
Though think the game would be better if more maps had set sides for spawning in team deathmatch, and it would be nice if the programming was smart enough to not spawn people (in any game mode) where people are looking and waiting. Ive been killed instantly after spawning many times and have smoked several others when they spawn in and it always feels like a cheap kill. The maps are big enough that they could have way more spawn points to avoid this.
Can you play mods, like maps etc? I once played it on PC and some of the most fun I had was on the role play style modes.

No progression system is WHY this game stand out. I'm so sick of that in CoD and the like.
Ahh yeah I'm sure if you play the annual Call of Duty games then you'll be sick of the things they've been doing for 2 decades now. I don't play them (I think the last one I spent time with was Modern Warfare 2 on PS3) so if a game doesn't have some kind of progression system it feels a little empty to me.
I prefer no xp. Its all fun and skills. Counter strike is the most popular shooter ever on pc and there was no xp.

Tho it's abit repetitive. Lack of modes/maps. If you get a good group going, this is top 3 VR games. The problem is lack of everything. It feels like more a beta play test than a full release. The lack of alot of basic features. But its a great game specially for its price tag.
Is it only private/friend lobbies or is there a search queue?
One of the only issues I have is with your own footstep audio. The audio moves places as you turn your head which makes it harder to tel if it's your own steps or someone else's at times... it isnt just me right? Anyone else find this?

Haven't had as much fun in VR, via a social community probably ever. Solaris was great fun however.
Since last week my latency has been horrible on 1 gigabit fiber optic. PS5 gets around 160-250 mbps wifi. All was good previously, now I am hitting 200+ ms ping on average. Low as 88, but jumps up every few seconds. Can't even reload, anyone else have this issue?

Tried playing with a friend who has pc. He hates the game as they have a rampant cheating issue with people flying across the map. But for ps5 players its really fun

If you are not planning to play online, I would not recommend Pavlov. It is a multiplayer shooter. That being said, even if your real friends aren't playing with you, there are a ton of cool people playing on here that it doesn't really matter. You will have a blast with strangers and they will strategize with you (for the most part).
Any feedback on prescription lenses with PSVR2? I am considering Hons or VR Optician. How clear is the image? Do you slide the lens on? Any issues with eye tracking? How long to deliver? I am getting me prescription updated this week ... had PSVR2 day 1 but haven't opened the box. Have been waiting to get prescription lenses.
Nothing yet. I want to get my eyes checked and get a set for myself though, so if I can make that happen soon I'll let you know!
I just got my VR Optician ones. Highly recommend them. Made a big clarity difference for me.
Hey I need some help so I just bought Pavlov and psvr2 and for some reason it only lets me point and click and not move with the joysticks so I figured I just needed to learn the game in the tutorial but I go to the tutorial and it tells me to sprint but the sprint was not working for some reason either do I couldent make it passed even that pls is there some setting I need to enable or something plz somone help I get that I just got this thing so there is a learning curv but all the let’s plays on the same setup seemed to just work I dident see them mess with any settings or anything pls sos
Hey! You've got to change your movement settings in the in-game menu. The problem is that every game calls their settings something different. The "point and click" movement you're talking about is usually referred to as teleportation, whereas normal movement is called "smooth locomotion" --- but it goes by quite a few names. Let me know if that helps at all :D
@@WithoutParole thanks im so new to the vr space i just used my brothers quest two and was blown away so i waited for the psvr2 to come out bought it and flipped when nothing was working but right now im waiting for one of the controllers to charge sense i put it on wrong i guess the first time also can the official chargeing stand charge both controllers at the same time? i tried it on the last one and one of them was fully charged whilst the other one was still dead which was frustrateing after waiting 2hrs
yea so plugged the headset in and it emidiatly started working with all games only one i have not tried is no mans sky @@WithoutParole though for as fun as games like pavlov were even in my small room i felt kinda underehelmed for some reason maybe because i bought into the youtubers who were hypeing the vr2 to the moon along with the games. but if i compare it to the vr1 which was my last headset its pretty nice but idk still enjoyable enough i suppose but i only just started so it would be unfair to just judge it based on 3hrs or so of testing it out and basicly playin through the tutorials of the games i bought

Full locomotion with Thumbsticks. Buttons do things depending on what you got in your hands.

Reach behind your left lower back. This gives you the map in your hand and and if you use the trigger button will allow you to zoom in and take a closer look. Basically, it’s on the back of your left hip.

Don't you have an issue with finding lobby? I still didn't have chance to play zombie coop online, there also 1-2 lobbies with gun game which usually are full, join to any game is a huge success
Yea that suck man. When I bought psvr 2 I expected to mainly be solo so I’m not surprised
It uses the old server browser system, so you have to play at the right time of day and day of the week to play the less popular modes

Nonexistent. Chose a server, click on it and play.
I bet its nice to not have to play with a million kids, since the cost of entry is much higher than the Quest. Im definitely looking forward to picking up a PSVR2 at some point.

Not weird. On Quest it's the truncated Pavlov Shack and it's still in Beta.
I wish I wasn't so curious about missing out on something special. Would refund it, but PS store policy is lacking even in EU. Don't like the "usual players" so far and the gameplay loop isn't mine neither. If I had to choose one game I regret buying it would be this one. 🙄

I can identify with this. I was only into single player adventures until PSVR came around. Still though - I have to be in the right mood to play with other people. And by "other people" I mean friends, not randoms online lol :D
@@WithoutParole definitely, I've had some horrible experiences that completely turned me off of multiplayer modes in games.
I remember i was playing the division at some point and some dude started telling me where to go and where to wait to ambush the enemy.
When i didn't do exactly what he wanted he started yelling at me and call me all kind of names.
I was done after that.

Outside of F2P games, you need PlayStation Plus for ANY online gaming. So yeah, Pavlov needs Plus

I'm so jealous of people who can just run in a game like this while in reality just stand still. I wish these games had third person modes.
You can get used to motion sickness,play other games first. I played horizon sitting first.

@@stefandinu6389 I've dealt with it since years ago with PSVR1. If I regularly play games it gets better over time. But I'm busy and I don't play games regularly, especially not VR games. So after not playing for a while, I feel sick pretty fast.
And even when I do get used to it, standing in place or sitting down while moving around in space is not "immersive" to me. It's weird. It would be more immersive if I was in that space watching my character from a third person camera.
Can you play that while sitting down?

TTT is the best mode by far! BUT it can also be the worst when the lobby is full of bro bros and safe spacers always askin if you mad bro? Aim assist seems so be a thing too, magical headshots I know Im not making happen often in 1v1 encounters.

Unfortunatly it's meant to be played standing. If you are sitting or to short (for example: a kid) the game registeres you as crouching...
Is it cross-platform?
Not yet. But the announced to enable crossplay with PC somtimes soon.
How can you not mention Counter Strike??
