The way Pavlov works and it's mechanics as well as map design and weapons, it's just CSGO in VR. the way you earn money to spend between rounds, the balance of weapons compared to their prices (most guns are utterly TRASH and you shouldn't even look at them for any game mode where there's no money involved. For example, the 1911/tokarev. It's the free pistol and it's TRASH, a peashooter. Balanced for Search and destroy. Same for the Uzi, Aug, shotguns and many other guns. M4 and AK-47 are meta. AK12 should have been so much better than it is in the game. Honestly, they should do away with the armor and helmet in some game modes. Even better, if they actually let us fkn decide mutators for custom matches. I would literally play this game every single goddamn day for 3 hours at least if they let me make no armor/helmet, 50% health, snipers/pistols only matches, of course with Regen health. Add headshots mutator too so i can have snipers headshots only with no Helmets matches. THAT would be the BEST thing they could ever add in the game. The replayability SKYROCKETS instantly. People will start making their own game modes with their own selections of guns and what you can buy, the amount of health you have, regen health over time or over kills or fixed health. Like m4 only 500% Regen health matches 😂 pure pain. Or... 500% health with .50 cal sniper so you gotta hit 3+ times to get a kill 😂 Pure chaos or pure streamlining. You choose. Fuck, they don't even need to have one in the chamber as a game mode, people could make it with mutators. Gun game? Have any gun you want in any order! You wanna start with all the bazookas in order and you need more than 1 kill to progress? Fuck yeah, Let's have a bazookas gun game. But all i want is Regen health option, no armor/helmet option and gun selection option for pistols and sniper rifles only matches. If they wanna go the extra mile and have something like actual mutators like splitgate, like speed, gravity, health, big heads etc... That would be awesome.
You can play Pavlov seated because I DO. I play it sitting on a rotating office chair and have just as much mobility as anyone who’s standing. The only thing I notice, is the lack of a crouch button, but very few people will drop to their knees or throw themselves on the floor anyway so it isn’t a significant disadvantage. Plus FYI, you can adjust your height, all you have to do is go into the PS VR2 settings, re-set your play area and adjust your floor height manually and therefore increasing your in game hight. Otherwise great review.
At 8:50 sums up the PSVR2 version- if PlayStation gets mod support it will be the definitive version. Unfortunately, until that happens sadly it is not. I often spend hours upon hours playing the PC version because I just want to see what map is next (so many amazing maps) when I play the PSVR2 version, I usually say, “Really, this map again”
As a new player, my first online match was TTT and I had no idea what was going on. Yeah I agree this review a lot. The UI, scoreboards, player data/progression, single player offerings, loadouts, and picking servers needs a lot of work. The gunplay is worth the cost of admission tho.
Finally a review that addresses all shortcomings. No explained game modes, no stats, no progression system, respawn systems especially in tdm are totally broken. It's a real shame because the game could be CounterStrike in VR because gun play, graphics and the rest is just great. It's 2023 and there are standards. The fact that the game is in VR is no excuse for the lack of basic things. For me 7/10. This is the time when I expect AAA in VR, I want Battlefield in VR without any cuts.

Also I don’t understand your point with the weapon wheel or preset loadouts. It takes literally 5 secs to build your full kit for a 60 minute TDM round. Also the spawns are made pretty good actually. Teammates only spawn in areas without enemies near teammates. In my 200 hours of playing it happened to me once on „Sand“ that an enemy glitch-spawned almost inside a teammate. But othertimes it literally never happened.
Reloading with trigger hand is counterintuitive unless your shooting a bolt action , but I learned to speed reload semi auto rifles keeping trigger hand on gun in order to shoot faster .
The lack of mod support is why this game is lackluster in the PSVR. I picked it up for PCVR and it's insane. Modders have imported the old Black Ops Nazi Zombies maps, including Kino Der Toten, and it's a 1-1 experience. Not to mention the WWII maps, WWI maps, D-Day experiences, the Minecraft maps. The Mod support is Pavlov, without it you're just getting a shell of what the game really is
No. Mods just add more to a game that is already full of content. All while spreading suuuuuper thin the small player base. I'd like to play these things in Pavlov, but I don't really care. The only thing I want is for options in custom lobbies. Like limiting the weapons and stuff people can buy, for example having only sniper rifles or pistols and no helmet and armor, and adding a Regen health option. With these options, i can play the current Pavlov for the next 100 hours just in tdm or a domination mode (where is such a game mode btw?? We need more objective based modes with respawns). You have to realize that most people don't care about mods. When they buy Pavlov, they don't care that the game can become battlefield or call of duty zombies. It's cute, but I'd last like... 30 minutes tops. I'd be down if they actually modded a western game mode with actual well made revolvers that work as well as the real guns. A tonne of the content that's on there now is from the modding community. Pavlov has a special bond with their community, the base game itself wouldn't be where it is now without it.

Yeah I was expecting this to itch my cod vr fix and man was I mistaken - the no seating option was already a deal breaker for me but the gunplay wasn't fun and running with your arms down, wtf was that? Haptics were amazing and run speed was decent but jumping into unbalanced lobbies that are full like 30 percent of the time and im out - firewall blows this out of the water
best psvr2 Pavlov review yet, love the perspective of various hardware comparisons. If you had it on pc would you still recommend it for the controllers? Or if you had the quest version?
I have a Rift S and PSVR2. It'll be so much better on PSVR2 in my opinion when it gets mods. Mainly because the haptics and the console VR experience is just smoother than my PC. I feel his assessment is fair although it's true for the PC version as well. (Besides the height adjustment option etc)

It is significantly better looking, and it plays much better. Pavlov Shack is free and on sidequest for a reason. It's also not cross play with PC and PSVR 2 for those reasons.

I didnt notice any of these problems when I played it, but I haven't spent a long time in it, which may be telling in itself even if I didn't feel like I had any problems with it. Hopefully the devs can continue to work on some of the issues you've rightly mentioned

Sadly Pavlov was never a full scale game. It has the best VR gun mechanics IMO. I'd rather see the dev lend his work to larger dev games.
