Another turtle?? Well, a Red-eared Slider to be precise.
This slider was my friend’s whom he had for a solid 8 years. Now he has decided to pass it over to me, as he does not have the proper sized enclosure for it anymore. Not to worry - It’ll be happily dipping in and out of my fish pond as he pleases.. and did I mention there are THREE females awaiting his arrival? xD

I think he (as in exoticlair) was annoyed too but didn't want to say anything too scathing - at least publicly. Also, and this makes me feel uncomfortable even just saying this, the country that he lives in seems to have very different standards for pet care and what is deemed suitable for keeping live specimens for a wide range of species. It's hard to explain and *not* an excuse for that behavior but it affects the quality of care for animals phenomenally. EL's family seems to have a deep love for animals though and they seem to have taken pretty good care of their pets in the past.
I understand completely how you feel. But can also understand from exotic lair perspective, rather than publicly shaming someone giving knowledge and then helping to rehome the animal is healthier for the mindset of the person, especially if they really don't or didn't understand in the first place.. I've been in a few of those situations, where rather than following everyone else and shaming the person, helping them instead and saving a bunch of animals in the process.. Its a hard thing to do but even a slightly larger tank for the turtle could've been a lot better than that small one.. I really don't understand some people's mindset though, its baffling really

Honestly I sympathize with the guy bcs I had one and couldn't afford to buy it any products as a 10 yr old. My parents hated them. I had no internet access for research before getting them. I had to struggle to feed them and care for them. It was so much hard work just to give them their basic needs. I finally got my own money 8yrs later and bought them a huge ass tank WOOP WOOP🎉🎉. If an adult with money is treating them poorly then that's when I can't really sympathize :/. As a child with mostly unsupporting parents(when it came to pet keeping) it was difficult but I'm now taking good care of them :)

@Huck Finn If animals do not have emotions then explain why elephants mourn and cry over the bones of other elephants that they are able to recognize and remember from their past? Emotion is not unique to just humans, and in case you didn't know humans are a species of animals. There are things that can set us apart from many species as a whole (such as language and using tools), but there are other animals capable of doing the same thing. Also, it is possible for animals to suffer from depression (such as cats and dogs) which can even lead to some deaths, such as broken hearts when they lose a loved one. Maybe next time you should do some research before you tell others false information and judge them for feeling bad for animals that may be suffering.

She could not stop wimpering... My dog who heard her in the kitchen ran up to her which had scared her a little bit... He wasn't a big dog but he just started coughing which made her scared... (My dog I used to have had a medical condition that made him cough a lot before he had passed away) so I just sat there comforting her while she was sad... I also petted her gently too... My mom got her a bath, a collar, and food... She posted on Facebook to see if anyone had lost her and turns out the owner did own both dogs but they somehow ran away... My mom gave them the collar which was a little bit big on the puppy when she went to return her...( The puppy didn't have a collar on when my mom found her)

I mean I don’t think this turtle has a reason to “calm down” or “chill” especially because he’s been in such a small enclosure for 8 years. This is probably one of the few times, if not, first time, in his life that he’s gotten the chance to experience living in a large space and he’s probably just really excited.

Your friend should never have taken care of that turtle. Surprised it even lived that long. They need to be able to go fully under water and come back up to dry off under a UV light.

Okay but like why?? Yup! We got a baby turtle, and here it how you tell: basically you try and look at your turtles tail, and if the tail is much thicker/stubby on the top more than the bottom its a male. Female: the tail should be skinny at the top, and not much smaller at the end.

I was trying so hard to see his face in the pond
We had 6 turtles growing up, when they got too big for their enclosure my papa released them into a pond in Florida (he is a cross country semi truck driver). He regularly visits them when he drives to Florida. All 6 are still happy and healthy and they recognize my papa. When he visits the pond eventually all of them will come to him.

I dunno how deep the pond is but some parts he might be able to touch the bottom. Plu without the muscle required for swimming, he can stand on his back legs to breathe. Hell most likely wander the yard which will also help him gain muscle mass. Plus they can hold their breath for like 12 hours I'm sure he can figure out how to get out of the pond by then.
