  • Rather turbulent approach into an overcast Birmingham after a short hop from Paris, though touchdown wasn't too bad. First time flying Air France, have to say, the crew was wonderful, but that was about the only good thing I can compliment really.
Connection experience at Paris Charles De Gaulle was a mess, simple to navigate since staying within the same terminal for a non Schengen connection just different pier, but the security was terrible. Long lines, no one directing anyone, rude staff. My smaller personal item was sent for secondary screening, the staff at that end seemed more interested in sipping coffee than doing their job while multiple bags piled up. After all their swabs passed they said I was good but kept my bag well past the barrier, yelled something in french and literally threw it at me when I asked them to pass it to me (lightweight bag but contained a fragile item)...Sorry but at most airports reaching past a security barrier will probably end up with you in handcuffs so no need to be so hostile.
Terminal itself (2E Pier K), dirty, smelled like a sewer, and who designed this place MC Escher? Stairs everywhere, at least 3+ sets of stairs just to get to the restroom, which was also disgusting. Didn't get a chance to check out the lounge as it was a very tight connection. Got to my gate and was nearly denied boarding, in all the frustration getting that far I didn't realize how much time had actually passed, fortunately I wasn't the only one running a bit late so they were waiting.
Aircraft...Dirty, worn out, also smelled terrible. Lucky it was a light load that morning, and the crew was lovely so that kind of made it better.
Overall, would I fly with Air France again? Maybe, I would like to try out their long haul offerings, but the thought of passing through Charles De Gaulle again makes me not want to even consider it. Flying primarily SkyTeam partners I can't help but choose a far superior Amsterdam Schiphol if given the option. Though with SAS joining I will hopefully be able to give them a try sometime and see what their hubs are like.
Enough rambling, will have to excuse the audio quality, this video was filmed with my phone as I was in such a rush and exhausted I forgot to grab the GoPro from my main carry on before push back. Totally spaced trying to film the takeoff from Paris.
