I am a retired CHP Officer and I was on duty and worked the traffic accident this future officer was involved in. I'm grateful he survived and is currently working as a fine example of the CHP.
I find it crazy how often drunk drivers walk away from accidents. Thank you CHP for doing all you can to hold these careless people accountable. Stuff like this is why I want to join the ranks of CHP.
Great story, glad you recovered and were able to fulfill your dream of becoming a CHP officer. Thanks for your service and for making the roads safer, we need people like you!
THANK YOU ALL THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL FOR YOUR SERVICES. GOD BLESS!! PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE!!....💙🖤💙🖤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Walter Fisser from Alhambra,California
Hats off to you mate. Over coming your traumatic experience and helping the community reduce road trauma. Not many officers would do the same. Respect to you
Whenever you post a video , my first action is to push the thumbs up. I had a 37 year career mostly in various aspects of EMS with a break of 8 years of Naval Service. I started in Oakland as a BLS EMT as there were no Paramedics then. Graduated with the first group of Paramedics of Alameda County , one of my Classmates and partner went from being a Paramedic to the CHP , retiring as a Captain. I eventually became a board certified Emergency Nurse , RN CEN working in busy Level One and Two Trauma Centers. I have a problem with alcohol. I loathe drunken behavior and in the Navy and Marine Corps back then , binging and idiocy was the norm. I , as a Corpsman picked up the pieces. From the streets to the ED you see every shift what impaired driving does. Usually the innocent victims get the worst injuries. The smell of alcohol and blood is a mixture that imprints on your brain. Impaired drivers are selfish, the tertiary effects of a DUI Car crash adversely effects all first responders , all witnesses and all Emergency Physicians and Nurses. The CHP and a great deal of local LEO get many “ deuces “ off the roads , citizens have a moral duty to notify 911 in a safe manner , if one sees a DUI. Citizens also have a moral duty to ask legislators for increased penalties for DUI. Why people with multiple DUI’s are on the road vs locked up is frustrating. The economic impacts of one 11:80 due to DUI are tens of thousands of dollars. Lastly , when it’s daytime and you see a CHP Officer or any other LEO , smile and wave , with all five fingers. SF
I wish this CHP officer a great career and a healthy life ( DUI) nobody wins take a taxi 🚕 or Bus 🚌 or don’t depend on alcohol 🍺 for enjoyment life’s great sober 🙏
Watching this video ... I cannot help but feel overjoyed that you made it through your traumatic accident and went on to finish your training 👏👏👏😎 KUDOS and CONGRATS to you on your success becoming a CHP Officer 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Prayers for you to always stay safe and secure 💙❤
I got a DUI back in 2009. It was a misdemeanor so nothing bad but I learned my lesson spending a night in jail. Another thing I learned, DUI is huge revenue for the city and state. That is why they wont enforce zero tolerance.
He was driving and talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone? Not criticizing, just saying that it is against the law in California to do that. Glad he recovered and can carry on with his career.
I got a dui for sleeping in my car. I made the right decision to sleep instead of drive when I left a party. When the cop was driving me to jail, an actual drunk driver almost crashed into us. No matter how many people cops think they help, it doesn't make up for the people they hurt...
Arthur Morgan you are an are hole and I hope you never get to drive again. The reason why you were arrested was you drove drunk to the place you passed out.
I mean you could use that same argument for a lot of jobs. I mean, Physicians get told the same thing all the time. But the fact is, someone has to do it.

Thank God the officer made a full recovery and is able to help prevent others from what happened to him.
How does he do that?
rocco london By getting piece of crap DUI drivers off the road and into a cell to sober up?
rocco london Why is that even a question?
@@czi125 dude you get triggered easy, are you a cop?
rocco london No I’m not a cop and no I’m not triggered, I just don’t like insanely stupid questions.
God bless all the chp officers !!!
Damn DUI drivers. They always have to ruin everything.

12/8/2013 my friend was killed by a drunk driver, her own husband, 6 months earlier her twin sister died of a heroin overdose on 6/3/2013
Way to prevail, Zak!!
Sucks that he got rolled back to week 8 though!!
Drunk drivers and people on cell phones while driving suck.

CA used to be a good place. Grew up in San Diego. Left at 18 for the navy and never came back. Im a firearms enthusiast. Now i work in the industry.
He’s extremely lucky he survived and thank goodness he did! Hopefully the person who hit him is in prison for a long time!
Myself and another cadet were both hit head-on separately by drunk dirvers while we were in the academy. With me it was my birthday.

I like when off duty cops get arrested for DUI. plenty of them on UA-cam.

If you want to help people theirs a ton of better things you could choose as a career rather than being a highway patrol.
