Puzzle solving without online guides, vanilla graphics, GM appearances. This is the old-school spirit of WoW.
I was thinking the same thing, haven't seen this kind of interaction and interest in the game for a long time from blizzard and the community.

Discovering that there is a GM in WoW is the greatest discovery that Season of Discovery has given us so far.

Over my time of playing since 04/05 I've seen it a few times, progressively less and less as time has gone on the interactions in-games with GMs has dwindled to near nothing, but it was always such an exciting time. Once having a GM turn into a giant boss in org on I think it was Vashj long ago.
The odd part is that people play this haha. Just like any other Private server Since 2006.

@@Yams42279 oh yeah I hadn’t even considered that… that’s a shame I deliberately chose “lone wolf” server because to my knowdge it has no major A-list streamers on alliance side at least… even so the stv bloodmoon event just gets crazier with each reset/as more people level and gear up, it’s honestly enough of a chaotic/mass gathering/mass destruction “scene” as it is, and it’s generally the sheer number of players present in a zone at a time that warrant GMs actually making themselves visible & talking to players, albeit streamers do seem to get those more lengthy “one on one” interactions that would feel way more special if it happens to me, vs. just seeing a gm appear and kill a bunch of people/mobs 🤷♂️

A GM stopped me in Classic WoW relaunch in Dustwallow Marsh I was level 15 headed to WC. He asked what I was doing out of my level zone, and I told him I was headed to WC, he released a monster and he and I ran from it all the way to WC it was fun, but the GM ran WC with us, and it was pretty huge lol. I can't tell you what he did in WC I said I wouldn't, but it was great, and I got 5 free levels out of it.
Honestly with all the botting that was intentionally ignored this is hard to believe you were stopped by a gm for leaving an appropriate level zone, feel free to give more info but sounds off, no offence intended, the sentiment of "I have a secret but I promised I wouldn't tell anyone" is not a behaviour exhibited by mature/older honest individuals, generally a younger sensationalising mindset uses this language

@@sekijou3622 but you won't be able to get a in game response from a gm, you'll get pretty much a email no back and forth this is nothing like old school this is oh there's a bunch of streamers let's show face so we seem like we're cool again... don't be fooled
Sadly, this is just the facade of old school MMORPG. They literally only show up for streamers, give streamers all the priority for loot and info, and endlessly promote the streams. The real WoW community has died and was replaced with the Twitch community.
@@ratburgler facts, I tell people to open a ticket and watch them not respond in game message and will pretty much send you a email oh that email didn't answer your question to bad now you gotta wait another week to get that answered
I bet the GM hitting the boss adjusted the health pool -- like how when in retail when more ppl hit the boss, the HP flexes to the size of ppl hitting it.

Honestly this is one of the best pieces of wow content I've seen in awhile, this is what has made WoW special for all these years, moments like these where 150 nerds show up and try to do something crazy ~ Wish I was there~!

I haven’t played since 2018 (started in 2005) but damn this brings back memories!
We were once doing some sorta attunement for some raid and we were in a cave in maybe blasted lands or something - but out of nowhere multiple npc’s from the zone, all dragonkin, all come blasting through the cave and directly through walls. Then a GM appears and says “lol” and then leaves.
Gates of AQ was wild. Single most memorable gaming event of my life.

Theres got to be some intent behind a GM stepping in. Probably they just didnt expect it to be attempted this soon, or they wanted it to be more involved like possibly killing it under the moon as in the picture.

That's because the loot hasn't been added to loa boss, it was supposed to be for a later phase. Can't let people kill the boss and see nothing on it

@@wes2k3b10 not a matter of joking a gm showing up and trolling the kill. Means it's highly probable that it had no loot table because even at phase 2 launch they talked about the loa boss and how it will be worth killing in a later phase

@@venumus1you fool! It’s more probable that it HAS a loot table and the GM doesn’t want them to see the item yet. No loot table is the dumbest thing I ever heard. If there’s no item then there’s no reason the Gm comes.
People would kill NPCs with no loot table for no other reason than “it’s hard and we did it!” Maybe they worried the players were a bit too fragile to kill the boss and find nothing other than the glory of having done it.
Or what if there IS loot on the boss which is meant for later and they didn’t think people would be able to organize and kill through the chaos of the event.
The no loot table argument is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s clearly because he drops items no one is supposed to have yet.
@@double_joseph327 then the idea that they put items no one is supposed to have yet within reach is dumb and they should have just left him with no loot table until they intended for him to be killed.

I think there was a similar event was back in the original WoW where it took 2 40 man raids, one alliance and one horde to beat a big boss.

i haven't played played SoD or classic, i love retail too much however this is what i miss in retail the fun i used to have back in tbc and wotlk, this had me sitting on the edge of my seat willing you guys on remembering what the game used to be like and seeing the GM there was awesome made them feel less like robots.

I think I get it … you dps him down with your bloods on then get him to the “enrage” point where you get him on that alter and everyone then cashes their bloods in as when you did the arena he took massive damage from what I think an “oops” cash came in and then without bloods they died and gave him massive heals … If that helps you 😅
Reminds me of when SoE stopped people from killing a boss in EQ that was meant to not be killed.

Maybe try using detect magic on him? A lot of tools GM's use to make changes that are temporary are buffs. I remember way back in the day at the end of each PTR cycle the GM's would summons bosses inside the cities and give people buffs such as "Test Grow" and such.
I remember when such thing was a norm back in 2005'ish era, when GMs were popping in front of you playing with you and chatting.

Chances are there was nothing in the loot table to begin with, so they're probably going to add it in the next event, so for the next kill it actually has something in it. No guarantee on the mount tho.
the bengal tiger isn't a drop it was added for a make a wish kid there will only ever be that one person with the mount forever that's their legacy after death

Just the other night I narrowly avoided a massive alliance death ball I didn't see coming until it would have been too late. They definitely saw me but didn't change directions from their objective. Really had that "I shouldn't be alive" feeling. lol

IMO: More likely to be a Hakkar drop from updated ZG since they said they want to update the rewards to be on par with BWL.
I suspect that the boss will not be killable this phase, possibly not till 60 (ZG phase), it’s meant to draw attention / get people excited & continuing playing the game

What does one need to do to become gm?
Degreelessness means, state of without degree. and an old school lingo. Id Delta Quit Delta. A fraternity Dave Taylor founded after learning that, Quitting or dropping out of a course gave him a statistically better grade than failing a course. 'Degreelessness Mode' because just like quitting a course, skipping straight to the end, you don't technically succeed but finish anyway.
