I just got crew chief and ship off March 29th lol. I’m a little nervous about this job. This is exactly what I needed to see. A WOMANS perspective on this field💓
I’m so excited for you!! I was a little intimated/nervous too, but mostly excited! I think you will end up loving it! Just keep a good attitude and try to stay positive when it gets hard. Most days won’t be easy but it’s definitely a rewarding job and the people you work with will become your family.❤️ Feel free to DM any time if you ever need advice or have any questions!
Don't sweat it . follow the QC.. you'll be fine.. you have the best support group on the planet.. don't be afraid to ask for help.. believe it or not if you ever get deployed to a combat theatre it becomes easier because their is only mission readiness at stake and most training takes a back seat..crew chief tech sgt F 4E & F 15C ret..
Go Girl!!! I spent 20 yrs on the flightline. Dcc of F15C #530 as a Vampire, and 2 Dmodel's when I psc'd back to states. Kept short hair because back then we had to keep it up, no FOD hazards allowed and always had hydro fluid in it anyway. Worked swings most time, slamming JFS's and CGB's and hydro pumps. No shorts back then, our uniforms were a mess, we always wore out the knees. I was swings expeditor when I retired. I was the only female most of the time, so I can relate, but I know you can and will persevere. I am so proud to see you guys doing what you do!!. Thank You for your service.
That’s awesome! I was on C & D models in Japan and loved it! Sounds like nothings changed over the past 20 yrs, they always break for the same thing! Always a jfs, cgb, or a Nose wheel steering issue lol! But thank you I appreciate that! And thank YOU for your service as well!
Aspiring crew cheif here. Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail a day in life as a crew chief. Im very excited to go to basic and finally become a crew cheif myself. This video really helped by letting me know what to expect my days could potentially be but i find this video very useful, thank you!
Really enjoyed learning more about your job and the process of going into the AF. I think this video will be helpful for other females considering their career options in the AF.
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently in tech school at Sheppard and have been feeling a little bit discouraged about being crew chief because there’s not a lot of women in this field.
I was AR Shop/Crash Recovery in the late 70s at Osan. Any time we got ZZ birds(RF-4C in those days) in bound we knew there would be at least 1 IFE. Just from listening to you it sounds like they've cleaned up their act since then. That was the best job I ever had, mostly due to the overseas comradery you mentioned. I went on to crew 130s then retired in '98 as a Shirt. Good on you for what you do every day. Keep 'em flying.
Nice to see they finally allowed shorts. Always sucked wearing pants. Course most of the time we wore shorts under coveralls lol. Love seeing eagles. 1031, 3010 were my birds. Also worked phase and crash.
What is the reasoning behind using a speed drill vs using a battery powered drill to drive all of the fasteners? This is something I have noticed on several maintainer videos. Awesome video by the way!!
Thank you! Our career field doesn’t authorize us to use power tools on the flight line. Some career fields are, but as crew chiefs speed handles are what we’re issued and we can only use what we’re issued. Power tools would definitely make life a lot easier though😅
Thank you for making this video. I'm in the process of joining the air guard and I have been trying to find youtube videos on what people think about their jobs so this was very helpful. do they let you listen to music while you are doing maintenance?
Omg thank you for the video! It’s so hard finding female maintainers let alone crew chiefs! I’m headed off to be a c130 crew chief soon, I ship June 7th!
Hi my son is going into tactical aircraft matimence. You said in the video that you have learned alot and that you have opportunities. What would my son be able to do when he gets out of the airforce? Would he able to work for airlines or private companies as aircraft matimence? I any information would be greatly appreciated.
My ex-hubs was USAF aircraft maintenance (avionics), & when he got out he was soon hired at a aircraft manufacturing company building new planes. Paid well.
You can work at any airport, there are contracted jobs as well on base even after you get out! You can work for Boeing, & Lockheed Martin. If you get your Airframe and Power-plant license (which I recommend because the Airforce actually pays for the course for you) then you can apply for any aviation jobs on the outside or power plant/job that works with jet engines!
Yes! It’s called an incentive flight! If the unit you’re at offers them (depends on the model of jet, it has to be a 2 seater) then it’s definitely possible to get one!
You see it in this entire video. She used men to get advantages. Her stripes and pay were enhanced because she is a she. She also couldn't do as much as a man and needed a man to do her job.

Don't ask a man to help you lift something they do on their own jet by themselves. CGB JFS anyone?

Great video and appreciate the fact the best part of being a Eagle Keeper is the family. That family never fades even after retirement.
Leaving for this job after basic in Jan/Feb! Thanks for the video and your service! 🫡
Thank you so for this vid! Just got crew chief and a ship date super exited !
That’s awesome! I’m excited for you! It’s tough starting out, but I think you’ll end up loving the crew chief life! You know what airframe yet?

Thank you for your service! My nephew is a dedicated crew chief on F-16s at Misawa.
So cool to watch! I learned a TON about your work life! Also loveee the earrings :)
Yay! Thank you so much! The earrings are from my amazon haul vid!

As a former AF pilot, I loved my crew chiefs. It's their aircraft - I only borrow it for an hour
I would LOVE too see more videos like this Hannah!!! soo cool, !! Thank YOU FOR UR SERVICE!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for your service. From a fellow Eaglekeeper. I am a retired Eaglekeeper myself. AFSC 2A373A
I appreciate that. Thank you for your service as well!
Cool seeing some positive content about/by crew chiefs. Crewed Eagles '04-10, Raptors 10-16
Thank you! That’s awesome you had the opportunity to crew both airframes!
You have such a cool job! Thank you for your service
Thank you!
I’m leaving for basic on June 18th and I’m going 2a333 can’t wait to be on the flight line.
Love love loved this one!!! Tell us more about Okinawa!!
Thank you so much! I would love too thanks for the suggestion!
Wait you guys can wear shorts now!? Im so jealous!!! I was an A-10 crew chief back in the day and I wish we had the ability to wear shorts!!
Great Vid... Glad you stuck it out through the "Hump" for sure :) and I totally agree Kadena Rocks!! Keep doing your thing, your doing it Very Well.
Yes it was well worth it! Thank you so much, I appreciate that!
This is a better life and experience than going to party university. No student Loan, no bullshit. Your life looks awesome.
lmao
So proud of you, Hannah! Love this video. Some of your non military watchers may not understand your abbreviations fyi. regs, tdy, mids, etc...
Thank you so much! You're right I'll keep that in mind if I go into more detail in another video!:)
You’re a bada$$ Hannah!
new subscriber here working f15 at saudi
Shorts? That's new. Is that a guard or reserve thing? Crewed eagles for 10 years and miss it terribly.
Nice to see they finally allowed shorts. Always sucked wearing pants. Course most of the time we wore shorts under coveralls lol. Love seeing eagles. 1031, 3010 were my birds. Also worked phase and crash.
w00t, Crew Dawgs!

They have to be “explosion proof “tools on the flightline
There would be too many stripped screws and busted nut plates. Sheet metal shop would lose their minds.
How are you a F-15 crew chief.?. They phased me out in 09' to F-22
Thank you for making this video. I'm in the process of joining the air guard and I have been trying to find youtube videos on what people think about their jobs so this was very helpful. do they let you listen to music while you are doing maintenance?
I'm at Sheppard for this AFSC going to Kadena AFB lol
That’s awesome! Kadena is the best first base you could ask for! Hopefully you go to blue AMU! Best of luck!
I’m in love with f15
Actually I am co-chief on f15SA And I’m so happy so happy about that
That’s awesome!
My sister is sooooo cool!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Great video. Sounds like you will really miss it.
Thank you! And yeah I think I might:/
Omg thank you for the video! It’s so hard finding female maintainers let alone crew chiefs! I’m headed off to be a c130 crew chief soon, I ship June 7th!
That’s awesome! So excited for you! Good luck with everything!
Herk BIrds Rule!
how did it go?
@@raphael7606 it went amazing, I’ve been at my unit for a while now and absolutely love everything about the Herk and my job so far!
Do you get lunch breaks in the flight line? Can you eat at the defaq?
Hi, I quick question when do you get to eat and are you provided food or do you need to buy/bring food to work?
So cool! Thanks for this video. Can I find out what your afsc is?
Thank you! Ya my AFSC is specifically 2a3x3L.
Tactical Aircraft Maintenance in general is 2a3x3, but the L is for my specific shred
(f-15 crew chief)!
God I love the eagle
ALSO UR NAME ON THAT PLANE!!!!??? FREEKING AWESOME YES!!!
Haha yes! You get that as a dedicated crew chief!
Are you interested in getting your a&P. Best wishes.

My ex-hubs was USAF aircraft maintenance (avionics), & when he got out he was soon hired at a aircraft manufacturing company building new planes. Paid well.
Can you switch type of planes at any time? Or are you stuck with 1 type of plane?
You get coded for certain aircraft so maybe coded for fighters or heavys ect.
What civilian job opportunities are there for you with this experience?
You can work at any airport, there are contracted jobs as well on base even after you get out! You can work for Boeing, & Lockheed Martin. If you get your Airframe and Power-plant license (which I recommend because the Airforce actually pays for the course for you) then you can apply for any aviation jobs on the outside or power plant/job that works with jet engines!
To add onto what she said, if you get your A&P, you usually get offered jobs from sponsorships making absolute BANK in the civilian world
Do you ever get to fly on the jets?
Yes! It’s called an incentive flight! If the unit you’re at offers them (depends on the model of jet, it has to be a 2 seater) then it’s definitely possible to get one!
@@hannahmcconnell8326 wow, I didn’t know that!
Can I see a video of you doing a CGB and JFS change without a heavy lifting jack? I've never seen a female crew chief do it.
Lmao got the same pic yesterday in the boy. Just finished track
I also just got Okinawa as my first duty station
That’s awesome! Did you get blue or red??
@@hannahmcconnell8326 I got Red! Hahaha
♥️
Lol saw the tdw haircut that’s the worst.

yo why the negativity though, im sure you wouldn't be too happy if this was your daughter/wife.
Pretty girl can't do the job.
