Hello! My husband is currently in BMT (2nd week) and I have binged all your videos to help me understand what the Air Force life is all about! Thank you so much!
He's probably in his 3rd or 4th week or training. During this time we usually receive our Dress blues, and are prepping for BEAST which is 5th WOT. During the 4th week is also when you have your 3rd PT evaluation.
I really love this video. I've been thinking of doing aircraft maintenance but I am afraid this is a job for men like you have to be super strong and stuff and know about tools etc. Thank you for explaining things about the training and the job itself. This video really motivated me. Thank you soooo muchhh!
Michelle Faith Ashley Exactly! I have been thinking of going into the air force after completing High School instead of going straight to college. I believe they pay for the tuition but you will have to provide service, I am not entirely sure as I want to go into the Canadian Air Force. But it is great to see another woman who wants to go into this career.
I'm going in to the Air Force with maintainer job, I can't wait. This video really made me feel so much more comfortable with my decision. This is the first I've heard from someone in a similar field. Thank you for all the information!!
What he is saying is absolutely true. I'm a tech school Instructor Avionics (right now). There is no greater sense of accomplishment then getting into these multi-million dollar jets and getting them to function again. If your in my career field you will spend time on the flight line as well as running every system the pilot does making sure that it works. Believe me it is nothing short of awesome.... Nice bit of nostalgia with this video. I hope you’re still going at it! When I hit 38 and realized if I had stayed in (fuel systems) I’d be retired with my whole life still ahead of me. Great video. Loved Swing shift!

I have a question which may be a Long shot but: Do you know amything about 1C5X Aerospace Control and Warning Systems/Command and Control & Battle Management Operations?(I read it was renamed to control & battle) Trying to figure out what that entails of generally because I find conflicting info.
Hey wus up! Nice video! If you pick a certain Afsc and you got the required security clearance, are you guaranteed to get that job? Or can are you allowed to wait for an opening before signing?
Awesome Video. Glad to have Maintenance. Off Topic Question: I have glasses but I only wear them for Driving. I plan on wearing glasses for BMT but do I have to wear them during PT? I run but Ive never run with glasses.

Would you recommend a job like this for a gearhead? I'm currently in high school and planning on joining the Airforce. I'm not 100% sure what career path but it definitely has to be something that involves working with my hands, fixing something, or taking something apart
+Sam Smith I grew up working on my own bikes as a kid, then cars when I got old enough to drive (I was a hot rodder and owned a sweet '69 L78 Camaro in HS). After scoring in the 90s on the ASVAB, I got a guaranteed slot in 431x2 school. After graduation and six months of OJT to upgrade to a five level, I was an assistant then a 7-level primary crew chief on C-141s. For my second hitch, I PCS'd on a BOP to a SAC wing as a shift NCOIC of landing gear and flight control specialists on B-52s and KC-135s. I finished my second tour as a technical instructor (TTI) teaching KC-135 follow-on courses. After my second hitch I elected to rejoin the civilian world, but I very much enjoyed my AF experiences and would do it all over again. So yeah, if you have an aptitude for mechanics and can do well on the ASVAB, the AF will give you the chance to do things no one else will.
Great video thanks for the info on maintenance. I have a question though im looking into mechanical jobs for the air force and I wanna know if 2a633 and 2a631 which one is better in terms of transferring to a civilian job or if you know any other mechanical jobs good for that please let me know. I will be taking the official test soon.
If a person in this field of maintenance transitions after completion of first contract into being an officer, and what's to continue with the career; what options of training are available for him?
I might be going in as a tactical aircraft mechanic. what is life like for those guys? how is the work does it suck? do they work a lot of days and hours?
Tactical aircraft is more involved and you’ll easily be working 8-12 hour shifts. But you get to work on fighter jets and A10s and cool shit like that. And you’ll get dirty, so get used to showering, doing laundry, and smelling like jet fuel all the time. But it’s rewarding being able to fix a multi-million dollar air craft so it flies just like new. Plus you’ll get to work outside, so just hope the winters aren’t too harsh when they roll around.
I was an AD (aviation machinist mate) in the Navy. I’m looking into getting into the Air Force reserves as a maintainer. But I don’t know which AFSC to do. I hear this hydraulics afsc (2A6X5) is pretty good. Any other suggestions?
I leave May 14th and I am going in as Mechanical Open and I was wondering which job is best for getting stationed overseas or getting deployed? I’m very interested in traveling
hey , can you make a video about going in open general ? I really want to go medic no matter if it's hands on or administration or finances , I just want too be in a hospital due to the fact my initials goal is to become an RN. Im hearing that's my best bet due to the lack of medical jobs . watch a a think ?
I'd expect there to be low maintenance but a lot of learning and unfamiliar tasks because of the newness of the jet.. But there shouldn't be anything too difficult
Great!! I took the Asvab last week and recruiter told me I score good on mechanics and electronics. I love computers but I am really good at working with my hands and tools too, so lets see what jobs are aavailable for me this month. Any advice when I step to talk with my recruiter again?!?!
+SuperMagma83 my highest score was electronics as well! If you have college degrees make sure you bring your unopened official transcript to your recruiter the next time you meet them. If you have enough credits, you can skip ranks.
is there anyway i could talk to you, maybe via skype or somthing similar? i would love to get some time to talk to you, i have a little over a month before my ship date.
hi . so after bullshit high school. i wanna go into aircraft maintenance technician at some college and after that work at a airline or something like that. but what are some more option. ive been thinking about the canadian airforce but im not sure. how do i enroll in such programs to get into the military to maintain planes?
Old video, sorry. But do you ever get like "thank you" flights? Obviously not in an F-22, but do they ever take the maintenance people out on a helicopter or other aircraft as a reward?
+Emotator They do have my job in the Navy, but I couldn't just switch over like that. I'd have to literally leave the Air Force, and then re-enlist in the Navy
+IM Æ A crew chief IS a maintainer who is generally responsible for an individual aircraft, and is generally trained on all parts of the aircraft. They also coordinate with pilots and facilitate their aircraft departing/arriving
Crew Chiefs are janitors and they change oil and take tire pressure. Then they think they're the most trained maintainer in the world and claim that they are trained on all parts of a jet but don't actually know anything important. Basically, crew chiefs are pieces of shit and might as well work at jiffy lube changing oil, while claiming they are master techs. Lmfao. Fuck crew chiefs. IF you're a crew chief, don't be like the other 90% of them. They talk shit like they're untouchable. When in reality, all they do is marshal shit, service oil and tires, and sometimes fuck with some hydraulic shit.
Can you make a video about jobs new airmen will be able to work right out of bmt? Ive been told some medical jobs you have to be an officer in the Air Force but I'm putting off joining because I can't choose what jobs I'd be more interested in please and thank you .

I have a question which may be a Long shot but: Do you know amything about 1C5X Aerospace Control and Warning Systems/Command and Control & Battle Management Operations?(I read it was renamed to control & battle) Trying to figure out what that entails of generally because I find conflicting info.
Leaving march 15th for basic on an open mech contract. Hopfully I get aircraft structural main!!!!
leaving March 15 as well! munitions systems
+Jordan Strickland i'm leaving on march 1!!
+chltmdwp whats your afsc?
Shay T. im going as open! Gunning for electronics!
+chltmdwp nice! Good luck!
Hey wus up!
+KenpachiDGus You don't have to wear your glasses during PT. You can leave them in your room if you can manage to see without them
thanks for this video. .how are hard is it to go to school while doing this job..
+atasha hoffman It can be demanding, especially with changing schedules. But it's definitely possible. I'm currently pursuing a pilot's license, my Associates degree, and soon I'll be getting my A&P certification (which is more school). It's not impossible, you just have to stay focused and keep your head on your shoulders
Great video
Would it be ok if I put your name in my Air Force paper for school about people I know in the Air Force
+Jeremiah Wulff Sure!
+WildBlueYonder thanks!!!!
Your video was dope! and very informative bc i take my asvab April 5th I'm nervous and feel like i didn't have enough time to study compared to most 😩 but I'll pray about it also I've been watching alot of of ppl videos like lafeyette life and willblueyonder and they do mention that they can't say certain things or do certain things in their video bc they're watched etc. I'm just letting you know.. to save you the fuss
Would you recommend a job like this for a gearhead? I'm currently in high school and planning on joining the Airforce. I'm not 100% sure what career path but it definitely has to be something that involves working with my hands, fixing something, or taking something apart
+Sam Smith Absolutely! You work with your hands everyday in any maintenance career field
+WildBlueYonder Thanks alot!
No. The flightline sucks man. Become a nonner and have an easy career
Jacob Mills true that. I’m in maintenance now and it sucks.
Someone in the military watched this to get a gauge on the morale and status of their command. Unlike me, watching this just cause.
Wonderful!!!❤️🎉🎉🎉
Close to 1million$ just to send 18 airmen through tech training.
I got 2a5X1... I have a couple questions...so I go to Lackland for basic? Then Sheppard for tech school? How long is tech school?
I was an AD (aviation machinist mate) in the Navy. I’m looking into getting into the Air Force reserves as a maintainer. But I don’t know which AFSC to do. I hear this hydraulics afsc (2A6X5) is pretty good. Any other suggestions?
Anyone that works out on the flight line
Deals with extreme weather elements...
It can be tough...but flightline mess halls are the best on base.
Not at his base... the POD is shit... Not the shit, just pure shit.
Hey weird question on a older vid but how does the tool box situation work?
I leave May 14th and I am going in as Mechanical Open and I was wondering which job is best for getting stationed overseas or getting deployed? I’m very interested in traveling
hey , can you make a video about going in open general ? I really want to go medic no matter if it's hands on or administration or finances , I just want too be in a hospital due to the fact my initials goal is to become an RN. Im hearing that's my best bet due to the lack of medical jobs . watch a a think ?
I was an ASSS, LOL. Avionics Sensor System Specialist.
Do you have any advice for maintainers that are assigned to F35?
I'd expect there to be low maintenance but a lot of learning and unfamiliar tasks because of the newness of the jet.. But there shouldn't be anything too difficult
Hey did you ever get kicked out of your dorm and have to live off base?
Good clip.
Hey Wild, if you get deployed in overseas, how long do you usually stay there for and can you extend your stay?
+chltmdwp For TDYs or "temporary deployments" , they're typically about 6 months and no, you cannot voluntarily extend a TDY
WildBlueYonder If I put korea as #1 in my dream sheet is that considered as temporary deploymets?
Nope, if you get stationed there for a short tour/long tour
Have you heard anything about Beale AFB?
Sure thing chltmdwp I will enter as a E3. Still waiting for credit approval since I have car and mortgage payments. Then off to BMT.
days on my base work from 7am to 1430
What was your AFCS to work on B52’s would you recommend being a crew chief or Aerospace Propulsion??
Do not be a crew chief. I could write a book as to why you shouldn't be a crew chief. Trust me dude. Trust me.
is there anyway i could talk to you, maybe via skype or somthing similar? i would love to get some time to talk to you, i have a little over a month before my ship date.
+Nathan Hafley Yup! You can email me at codenamesimmons @ gmail and we can talk more there
+WildBlueYonder I emailed you.
I leave for basic April 16th and then I go to shepherds to be an aircraft hydraulic systems maintainer
hydro sucks lmfao
hi . so after bullshit high school. i wanna go into aircraft maintenance technician at some college and after that work at a airline or something like that. but what are some more option. ive been thinking about the canadian airforce but im not sure. how do i enroll in such programs to get into the military to maintain planes?
I remember that day..but I had gone to minot,.
Old video, sorry. But do you ever get like "thank you" flights? Obviously not in an F-22, but do they ever take the maintenance people out on a helicopter or other aircraft as a reward?
what's the work hours of being one ?
Power pro best job in the AF
WBY, you a staff yet?
Are you also qualified to work as a maintainer on an aircraft carrier if you wich to switch to the Navy instead? you already have the skills right.
+Emotator They do have my job in the Navy, but I couldn't just switch over like that. I'd have to literally leave the Air Force, and then re-enlist in the Navy
I going to join the Air Force after high school and do security forces
what's the difference between a crew chief and a maintainer?
Night Father tell that to a phase crew chief and let me know how that goes
Night Father Did you even work ISO?
steve removed panel. Inspected part. Installed panel. In this climate controlled hanger. Geez life sucks.
do you have to test flyit?
U would make a great sales men
I got Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice. I guess Ill have your life.
Hey, man! It's off topic to this video, but when are you getting on xbox to stream and play? My buddy's and I would love to play with you!
+Nick Anding I should be up within the next two weeks!
Nice! If you're looking to party up send me a message and I'd love to!

+Blake Dunn Sir congrats on your ship date. Message me directly.
Personal protective equipment
PPE = "Personal Protectave Equipment"
Can you make a video about jobs new airmen will be able to work right out of bmt? Ive been told some medical jobs you have to be an officer in the Air Force but I'm putting off joining because I can't choose what jobs I'd be more interested in please and thank you .
right
