    The reason it is harder than stock to get into neutral is because to pivot point of the shift lever is moved forward by a substantial distance, effectively making the throw of the shifter much shorter, while also decreasing leverage at the end of the shifter. It now takes more effort over a much smaller distance to get into neutral, which makes it very easy to skip neutral and end up in second. The rose joint/heim joint/rod end bearing method is a much better way to improve the feel and precision of the Grom shifter without adversely altering its geometry. The linkage also protects the shift shaft from damage in the event of a drop, as you mentioned.

    Removing the rubber casing on that middle linkage on that OEM will allow you to remove that middle piece before anything else and then you don't have to loosen the rear set at all. That's what I did when I installed the IMS shifter. 🤙🏻

      +MSX WarHawk thanks for the advice!! Glad I didn't cut that casing though cause the stock went back on.

      Grom Garage yeah I cut mine to get it off a little easier! I was committed from there on lol.

      But, I agree N is VERY hard to get with this one. Even harder then the stock! Maybe it's just something I have to get use to again being its different. Hopefully.

      +MSX WarHawk only took me a couple days to get used to it.

    Not difficult getting into N at all. I used to ride dirtkbikes and this shifter is a thousand times better than the stock one. More responsive and much better feel overall.

    Just so everyone knows, Straight up pumps has a neutral shift plate for $30 that is supposed to make shifting into neutral easier. Could make this aftermarket shifter practical.

    I have reverse shifting in all my bikes, and I actually reverse shifted the grom as well with all the stock parts, meaning I had to take out the lever and the whole link and put it together in a different way, at no point had to touched the rear set bolts.

    • @GromGarage
      @GromGarage  6 років тому

      Just makes removing the shifter a bit easier without having to force the parts off

      Glad it helped ya out! We feel the Z is a more refined bike than the Grom was. The Z feels like a much better bike stock for stock compared to the Grom.

    Easy fix for your gear stick foot.Cut some leather from an old belt and glue to your shoe where the gear stick hits it.No longer will you have a sore foot.

    I always in 2nd and barely tap on it and it will go into neutral so easy. do that alot as I'm rolling with the clutch in at a red light or pulling into my driveway

  • @motion-tk4176

    it’s not hard to find neutral at all. lears how to ride and actually wear gear and it’ll be better than the stock shifter. don’t tell other people to not get something just because you don’t like it.
