I know the feeling. If you wanna get good fast there is one rule that will help you a lot: Always arrange a full song with your beats, no matter how trash they are. Just make it better next time. You will be able to produce great sounding full length tracks in no-time! This is mentally challenging but it's required if you're stuck in a rot. This way you will stumble upon happy accidents regularly, it's just a matter of time before you produce that life changing hit song.
I put every single song I write online. Share it all, good and bad. I try to complete 2 songs a week, and I complete every song I start. It's a method that forces me into finishing things.
it's like a photographer...they take thousands of photos at a wedding/event and only find a few that they deem worthy of showing. Afraid to fail/succeed has been a huge problem for me and I'm finally letting that shit go and just enjoying myself while I create/learn. Even if it's shit, you still learned something.
There is this ASMR video of an old stone engraver just chipping away at stone and talking about his craft. He said one thing that really stuck with me. That moment when you look at your art and think "god this is awful" is a moment for celebration. It means you have grown, you can only recognize it as awful because you have a vision of something that is better.
I once read an article where they tested two groups of people doing a pottery course. One group was told they can spend the entire 12 weeks on as many pots as they want, and the other group was told to produce as many pots as they could, regardless of quality. By the end the group that was told they had to produce as many pots as possible, produced like 20x more and by the end of the course their pots were of significantly higher quality than the group that could decide for themselves how much effort to put in a pot. I think this is also the case with making tracks. It is true that it is not like making a pot where you can perfect one shape. But this is how it has been done in the past. If you want to really master an instrument, you don't spend an entire year on one piece, you learn as many pieces as possible in the shortest amount of time possible, that is how you quickly learn an instrument. Or back in the baroque day, composers and players harmonized as many figured bass lines as possible, thousands of them. That process of creating something new anytime is also a skill you can hone in on, it is more abstract than creating a pot, but it is a skill nonetheless.
I think what Venus and Weaver is trying to say is you need to fail in order to gain experience and learn. This is true for a lot of things. Who do you think is learning the fastest; a person that makes 100 bad tracks (full length) in a year or a person that spends 1 year trying to make one perfect track? Who is going to get rich fastest; someone who fails with 10 different businesses per year or a person that spends 1 year per business idea? If you wanna produce trash music for the least amount of time you need to start failing asap and gain experience.
There is a difference between poor arranging and sound selection vs poor cords and melody. I did an experiment where I used the exact same midi twice just with different sounds, same drums, one sounds deep emotional, and the other sounds happy.
I know this isn't the main channel but you should show how to use serato sample and how to use guitar loops cuz there's almost no videos on guitar loops
Venus Theory is a weird guy, he's certainly good as a sound designer but a really breaks my balls when he start to lecture us about the meaning of life and how to think or create. This is just... plain...bullshit. He don't rely on anything, it's just his plain thought that we must digest in every fucking videos. I miss the time he was less "flexy" and was talking about sound. These days those "essays" are pretty much pointless unfortunately.
I cannot stand VT's voice, I keep having to say that. It grates on me sooooo much. Tbh VT is saying some dumb shit and he has a surface level of what making music is all about.
There is no irony in the mustache. Or..........is there? Tune in to WNN tonight at 9 to find out.

Kinda got me thinking in the three years it took Brakence to make Hypochondriac, how many songs did he make for only 13 to make the final cut
genuinely needed this video ive been overthinking everything lately and just end up with unfinished beats

I needed to see this video I’ve been trying to over perfect things and just end up finishing nothing
I think he should have said, "...make something awful" too. Venus Theory is a great sound designer, and I love the work that he does.

I love the points made in this video. It really is an important thing to remind yourself of. We're all gonna make some trash to get to the treasure.

You, Cameron, BennJOrdan, Zane, and Sumthin Sumthin HTK are my go-tos.

Anytime you feel bad, just watch 'rza makes a beat at guitar center" and you will feel better as a producer.👍

This makes me think of the old record about Sparky learning to play the piano.

Cameron could make a fortune in voice over work if he ever decided to quit music.
Woah yeah, people love massive dick voices!

I'm glad I dont make shitty beats anymore
I know this isn't the main channel but you should show how to use serato sample and how to use guitar loops cuz there's almost no videos on guitar loops
If you're talking about for hiphop, its because guitar loops suck, they're played out and cringe as f*
@@artkitectbeats1622 I use guitar loops in hyperpop, lofi, ect. I don't make hip-hop beats
I LOVE the title of this video. "Make Bad Music" It's a mission. 🙉
You could make 100 different cake recipes and the analogy holds up

Can you start washing your hands when you wipe your ass
why do you look lk walter white?
i think VT deepens his voice in post. if you actually watch his mouth while speaking, the tone doesn't match the movement.
